Victory for Gregory Rasse in Lotus Cup Europe Dijon

Race 2 start

Gregory Rasse proved to be too quick for Jon Walker in the battle of the V6 drivers as Lotus Cup Europe headed to Dijon-Prenois. The Englishman's Exige was the class of the field in qualifying but when it came to the races, his Belgian rival was able to keep up the pressure in the Evora, taking the lead on both occasions. Xavier Georges headed the chase in his four-cylinder 2-Eleven but despite an impressive performance in qualifying, was unable to stay with the leaders. He took a strong third in race one, before losing out to the more powerful cars of Nikolaj … [Read more...]

Podium

A thrilling battle for the lead of the second round of the 2013 Lotus Cup UK Championship was fought between the Evora of Andrew Bentley and Marcus Jewell’s 2-Eleven, with the former taking the honours on the  Silverstone Grand Prix circuit. The pair fought from the very first lap, along with Adrian Hall, until he made the first of a series of unscheduled pitstops. The lead changed several times in the closing laps, and the margin of victory was little more than a second after an hour of racing. The Lotus Cup Europe pacesetter was unable to match polesitter and early leader Michael Lyons for outright speed, but timed his pitstop to perfection. Returning to a clear track, he was in position to pounce when Lyons handed the 340R over to owner David Harvey in the final half hour, before an alternator issue ended their challenge. Steve Train was crowned Lotus Cup UK SuperSport champion at Snetterton after a tense final round, in which both winner Rob Fenn and runner-up Glenn Sherwood, sharing with Jamie Stanley, could have taken the title. Polesitter Fenn was passed by a charging Martin Donnelly at the start, and the Evora led much of the race, with GT and historic ace Michael Lyons also in contention. However, making up for an extended safety car period, the pair made their mandatory stops too late for the pit window, incurring penalties. This left Adrian Hall to claim the final podium … [Read more...]

Race one

The second round of the 2012 Lotus Cup Europe season saw the drivers return to the Magny-Cours circuit in central France, home to the French Grand Prix for nearly 20 years. A fast track, with several technical corners, it would provide a challenging lap for the competitors, albeit one that many had driven on two previous occasions. The Rasse brothers would be facing tough competition from Olivier Georges, the star of round one, whilst Jon Walker and Magny-Cours specialist Christophe Lisandre were also expected to be at the head of the field.
