Lotus Evora Long Term Test – Intelligent Precision Shift

After 3 months of supercharged goodness the next quarter year will be spent in an automatic Evora. Yes, an automatic. I know, I thought the same too as I've never been much of a fan of automatic gearboxes and the Evora IPS uses a torque converter, often referred to as a slush box as the clutch is replaced by a hydrodynamic fluid coupling attached to a planetary gearbox. To start 2012 here's a great image of the Lotus 88B being driven up the hill by Dan Collins at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Not only did he drive it well, he drove the hill the quickest and won the Fastest Time of the Day shootout, well done Dan and all the team at Classic Team Lotus. The Type 88 never raced in F1 due to it's twin chassis design being outlawed before it even made it to the grid following practice, not the first time some of Colin Chapman's innovations fell foul of the rule book. Indian driver Sailesh Bolisetti to race for Lotus in British GT

Lotus Sport UK has signed Sailesh Bolisetti to race in the 2012 Avon Tyres British GT Championship. The 23-year-old from Visakhapatnum, on the east coast of India, will race the Lotus Evora GT4 which took three wins last year, the team’s maiden season. Bolisetti began racing in 2007 and went on to winIndia’s inaugural Volkswagen Polo Cup in 2010. BTCC driver Martin Byford joins Team Bullrun in the Evora GTC

BTCC 2011 driver and former Formula Ford and Renault Clio Cup Champion Martin Byford, will join 2010 Britcar Production Champions Richard Adams and David Green in a bid to take the Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship Crown. The former rivals will race a new Lotus Evora currently being prepared by Lotus Motorsport in Hethel. Team Bullrun have announced that they are to take deliver of a new Lotus Evora GTC in time for the first round of the Championship at the Silverstone GP Circuit on 24th March 2012.
