This weekend saw the latest dealership in the UK network open it's doors to Lotus owners, future customers and enthusiasts. With a full complement of the current range of Lotus cars available to test drive, Lotus sent ex-F1 driver and Brand Ambassador Martin Donnelly to accompany customers and offer real hands-on advice on what these cars were capable of. Lotus COO Aslam Farikullah confirmed for Snows Lotus Hedge End opening

Lotus boss Aslam Farikullah will be making an appearance at the opening of the newest addition to the Lotus dealership network. Lotus Hedge End, part of the sizable Snows Group will be holding a VIP open event starting this Friday through to Sunday (17th to 19th May), details of which can be found here. Aslam Farikullah will be attending the event on Saturday the 18th at midday. Government again approve Regional Growth Fund £10m for Lotus

Business Secretary Vince Cable has said that the government has given Lotus the green light for it's £10m Regional Growth Fund cash boost, according to Norfolk's EDP newspaper. This was first approved under the companies last CEO Dany Bahar in October 2011 when Lotus promised 1,100 new jobs in the region from increased manufacturing output however following on from last year's takeover, the grant was scrapped and has since been re-applied for with a change of management and business plan under new owners DRB-Hicom. Lotus to manufacture rolling chassis for new $135k EV

Lotus have confirmed that they will be manufacturing the rolling chassis for the new Detroit Electric SP:01 Electric Vehicle. The $135,000 EV will be based on Lotus' proven small platform as used in the Elise and Exige and the rolling chassis will include Lotus suspension, steering & braking with the suspension slightly modified to deal with the change in weight distribution. Once supplied to Detroit Electric, they will transport the chassis for final assembly in Wayne County, Michigan, USA for American bound cars or to Lochem in the Netherlands for EU cars. Evora gets 12 more months to comply with US advanced airbag requirements

The USA's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has granted Lotus a 12 month exemption to the requirements for 'smart airbag' system regulations for their only USA product, the Evora. Under the regulations (FMVSS No. 208) the airbag system must be able to detect if the occupant of the front passenger seat has their seat belt buckled or unbuckled, allowing it to vary the force imparted to the airbag inflation in stages.
