S300 engine removal

Posted by mike_sekinger, in 4-cylinder Projects 23 April 2011 · 17 views

Finally after the S4s is away, I had chance to return to the S300 project.

The final preparations for the extraction, complete with the engine loom

Engine will be rebuilt with lightweight rods and billet steel crank - should be good for some serious power   :construction:

Cheers,

Hey Mike,

I know some people would really like to see how the brace over the engine is attached to the chassis!

Hope this'll be as picture & info rich as your usual posts.

What turbo are you going to use? Stock? Also, any thoughts on O-Ringing the liners or head for a better squish?

Hi Artie,

I´m taking advise from Garry Kemp on the engine options. Ultimately, it is the owner who has to decide how far he wants to you go with the build.

I think that the turbo is good for close to 400bhp, so we´ll be sticking with the standard S300 T34 set-up.

Cheers,
Mike S

gotcha! I'll be puling the engine tomorrow once again, hopefully for the final time! Lol! I have new ARP head studs and a new gasket. Ever considered O-Ringing the head? I'm not happy with this "head gasket" failure every 400 miles!

Artie - my Lottie's engine was rebuilt and improved to Garry Kemp spec by her interim owner Gavin - who did the spannering and Garry provided the expertise. She allegedly makes 370-390bhp, and certainly feels like it although I'm not tempted to dyno her to prove anything. Gavin fitted a sheet copper head gasket which didn't last long - she's now running a 'standard' Goetze gasket reamed slightly to clear the ARP studs.
