UK delivered vehicle imported into Oz - I have owned it since 1991.  Although it is an S1 as it was built in 78 it has an S2 wiring loom , twin motors on the headlights and some other S2 bits.  Between then and 2006 I have fitted an integrated air conditioner/heater and replaced most of the non stressed nuts & bolts with stainless steel, zinc plated all the brackets etc that were just mild steel, treated the chassis with rust preventative, totaly rebuilt the rear bumper mounts, replaced the clutch & pressure plate, reconditioned all the master & slave cylinders in clutch & brakes with stainless inserts, renewed rear springs, replaced all shocks with Spax Adjustables,  re-trimmed the interior with leather and re-carpeted the interior.  Replaced the speedometer  with a Lotus metric unit, and since then-till 2007 have only managed to do about 350Km
2007 added "hi-speed stabilisers" to the front air dam.  Replaced "boards" in the rear with lightweight foam sandwich material & re-carpeted the interior.  Fitted Pertronix  Igniter ignition kit & coil.
In the last few years I have replaced all the gear linkage bushes with urethane ones in an effort to smooth out the shifts, but I didn’t get a real smooth shift until I modified the engine mounts according to instructions by Rohan Hodges that I downloaded from this site :  replaced the dreaded red clutch  pipe with a braided one from The Elan Factory in Melbourne, fitted another Odesy Battery and added a Fuel Star to the fuel line to cater for unleaded fuel.
