OK my disks have failed inspection and need all four corners replaced. We gave him one of the disks and he said where did you find that....washed up in the tide ...Not funny

I am going to stick with AP's but want to go for a size I can get off the shelf here in NZ. We have a mate who can get us some disks at a reasonable price. I have heard you can go to a larger 330mm disk with a spacer? Also is this the same size for the rears? What are the cons of this please and any other set-up issues.

Not interested in PNM's 30mm thickness disk as my disks failed at 29.1mm thickness.

Thanks mate I have emailed Marcus to see if he will sell the disks without bells. His rotors look rather sexy

Hi Kylie,

I can't understand why you are not interested in PNM discs? I can't recall excactly what the specifications are but I do know that it's the relative thickness of the disc to wear limit, i.e PNM disc is 30mm thick, minimum thickness is 28mm. It's the percentage of metal worn away.
Iam just waiting for the maximum and minimum thickness for AP and I'll get back to you. Iam guessing that if yours failed at 29.1mm then they must have started out in life as 32mm.

I don't think there is an AP replacement disc you can buy direct for your S350 as I've heard the PCD and internal diameter won't fit onto the existing bell you have. There are one or two people on this forum who say that they do fit but I haven't seen concrete evidence of this. I think Jonathan was one person. I've love to know if this is true and get to the bottom of the AP replacement disc problem.

If you don't mind paying silly money then get the Lotus ones. PUK are the best bet if they are more than 30mm.

I'd be more worried about shipping costs as they ain't light.

If you get stuck and the PNM discs become an option then pm me and I can do you a good deal on them if you buy them from me.

If you want Marcus' discs then you will need new 'hats' too. I believe Dave is right and the mounting holes PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter) are unique to Lotus on the OEM AP equipment. I have not confirmed this myself but it should be easy to do the AP website reports all the dimensions of any standard AP disc.

I too am very keen to get to the bottom of this issue. I would like to go to the 330mm x 32mm (Dave your guess was correct 32mm is the original thickness) or even the 343mm x 32mm discs if they will fit inside the 17" rims. I think they will fit but I'm not 100% certain.

So in summary if you want off the shelf AP discs you will need new 'hats' and an adapter for the caliper mounting to allow for the increased diameter of the discs.

You can have these made by a local machine shop if someone has drawings of the originals (anyone???).

Lets hope someone has all the answers. :-)

cheers

-Chris

I have pm'd Kylie with some details. Basically a replacement rotor will cost £190 for one, £180 each for two and £175 each for four. As Kylie lives in NZ, there's no VAT

I have done several drawings of the AP, PNM, Brembo and Hi-Spec brake disc, caliper and mounting brackets so this is why I know the the aftermarket AP stuff has a different inside diameter and PCD. You will need new bells I think if you buy from AP direct.

As for 343mm disc, Iam not sure with using an AP caliper but I can tell you that if you went for a mega monster Hi-spec 6 pot and a 350mm disc, it still fits in a 17" wheel because the caliper is designed to be low profile. Not sure how low the AP wraps around the disc

Hi Dave I pmed ya back, cheers  I just need to get the facts correct before proceeding any further

The discs from PNM come complete with Bells ?

If not will the fit the original bells off the original discs ?

Am more worried about timing if he has to make them. I kinda need them here in a week.

Hi Kylie,

I have sent you a pm with answers to all your questions.
I will find out if they can do them quicker for you. I'll let you know either way.

I know they have a full set on the shelf but I think they are sold.
