There are 2 ways you can post an image to the forum.

Firstly, you can add it to your post with the 'attachments' system. To do this, you'll see below the writing pane in the full editor a section called 'attachments'. Click on 'Browse', find your image, click on 'attach this file' and your image will be included in the post. Should you then wish to place the image in a certain position in your post, click the cursor to where you want it to go and then click 'add to post' to the right of the screen.

The problem with this is that many images take up much room on the internet (when they say a picture can paint 1,000 words, that also works out about right in kilobytes so 1 picture takes as much room as a thousand words on our server!) so basic accounts don't get much space, full forum members get more.

Secondly, and the recommended method is to use off site hosting. Websites such as http://www.photobucket.com are free to use, very clever and make it really easy to host pictures. Sign up for a free account and follow their upload instructions and once you've uploaded your images you'll see links to the image either as a file eg

http://photobucket.com/my_album/picture.jpg

which you can post on here using this button above, or you'll see a link to a forum ready image which will be enclosed in [ img ] wrappers eg

[img]http://photobucket.com/my_album/picture.jpg[/IMG]

which you can paste directly into your post.

Exactly. As a full member, you get 10mb of space and you've used it all up. Click on 'Manage Attachments' in your settings and you can delete some old attachments in there. :D

Bibs I followed the vid above as I am trying to embed a youtube vid in the "driving music" thread. I clicked the special bb code buton, selected media then pasted the youtube url in the box but the vids arent showing just a link? I must be doing something wrong?

Cheers in advance

Are you using the long link from the address bar on youtube? If you click on share, they give you a youtu.be address which won't work.

Buddsy,

I have fixed 2 of them. The third link in the middle was the same as the first one - Arctic Monkeys.

What I did.
I clicked on your links from your post. What I noticed was the code for your links had embed in the link url. All others I have seen do not have this. So I went to youtube and searched for the video. I then copied the link from the address bar and pasted that in.
That works.
I am not sure why, and I'm sure Bibs would be able to tell us, but it appears the best url link to insert is straight from the address bar on the search results page.
Give it a try with your third vid and see how you go.

Michael.

Michael the post was a bit mixed up as I tried various things and different links. Im not that fussed with that topic but thought it was time I should learn how to post a vid!

Cheers

No probs posting pictures, except in a "Gallery" where there seems to be no option of using Photobucket to host the image ?

You upload images directly in the gallery, it's not for hotlinking from elsewhere.

Click on 'more reply options' rather than just using the quick reply box. Bottom right of the box you're typing in...

Guys,

Having another problem posting photos. Moxie made several suggestions. None have worked so far.

After writing my post, I click "More Reply Options". Then "Browse" Files. Choose a JPEG file from my library. Click "Attach". Nothing happens. Don't know what changed. Did get one photo to post directly to Moxie though on a PM. Haven't been able to duplicate it. Any assistance will be appreciated.

Lyn

It's all working fine. How big was the image, less than 10mb I assume? Did you try the alternative uploader?
