I need a replacement brake light bulb for the high mount rear brake light on my 1993.5 Esprit. It takes 4 bulbs and I can't seem to find it locally? Cross reference with who?

That's an aftermarket spoiler.

Here is a factory S4 spoiler.

John, that is indeed a factory spoiler and not aftermarket.

It was fitted to the US only 1993.5 models... Its VERY rare and VERY desirable! :police:

The lamp was purloined from the M100 Elan. The manual lists the bulb as an 11w type 891 which may be hard to find as I think 8w is the common wattage.

That's same bulb as used in the high level stop lamp of the Elise, so any Lotus dealer or specialist should be able to help.

The brake light is from an '89 Corvette, if that helps. 891 is the correct number.

And from my recollection when I bought them for my late 93, they were not cheap!

Hi guys,

I can find the 891 in 8W online with no problem. Anyone have any experience with the 8W bulb vs. the 11W bulb called for in the owners manual?

Thanks!

Andy.

891 is a standard lighting industry type number, so I wouldn't worry about the wattage quoted in the manual. The worst that can happen is the light output might be somewhat less, but I'm going to suggest it's a typo in the manual.

Thanks, Sanj.

Yeah, that makes sense. I replaced all 3 bulbs in my 3rd brake light with new 8W bulbs to avoid any issues with possible differences in output across the bulbs.
