I saw an advertisment for this performance juice, 3 qts of MT-90 and 2 qts of GM Synchromesh Trans Fluid, which supposed to be for 2 oil changes on Lotus.
Question 1: Can I use MT-90 straight in 88 x180' Citroen gearbox, (in place of unavailable in US TUF-X)?
Question 2: May I use mix of 2 parts of MT-90 and 1 part GM Synchromesh in Citroen gearbox?
Question 3: None of the above?
I am not looking for an opinion, but I am looking for someone who actually experimented with fluids mentioned above
Thank you

John,
I don't think many Esprit owners stray far from the TAF-X specified from the manual. I have used Royal Purple MaxGear 85W140 and Royal Purple Syncromax and find the synchromax to be better at helping select gears. Since the sycnchromax has friction modifiers in it as does Redline MT fluids, they help the synchros engage better than a slick regular heavy weight gear oil. Royal Purple products are carried at my local Napa store so that's convenient. I have used the TAF-X for a few years and don't feel much difference between it and the synchromax. Fwiw, synchromax is GL4 and GL5 compliant according to the label.

Yes, I have gotten my TAF-X from JAE over the last few years, Jeff is very helpful and quite a big advocate for us! Great support and if he doesn't have something, he can usually get it. I will be switching back to TAF-X this spring since I'm not seeing a difference with the Royal Purple, figured I'd try and if it made the trans more compliant I'd stick with it, have used it for years in my other high performance cars with great success. BTW, Bibs, any chance we can start getting 10W60 oil over here too? ;)

We ship it to the USA on a monthly basis at the very least, we have all the correct customs documentation and send via FedEx Intl Priority. If you want a better shipping quote than the shop can work out, just ask me :)

I could probably ship that to the USA for $150 at a guess - I can send 60kgs of wheels for £150!

Some floks claim that it is a good practice to overfill gearbox by 1/2 to one pint. Do you know why?

On the Citroën boxes it helps lube the 5th gear.

IYO, would adding ZDDP improve anti-wear properties?
