First reports are suggesting multiple wrist fractures. Not good news :no

We may get Senna back in a Lotus after all.

Robert Kubica has been 'seriously injured' in a rally accident according to reports from Italy.

The Renault driver had been competing in the Ronde di Andora rally, with reports suggesting he overturned his rally car, a Skoda Fabia on the way to a stage.

Early reports claim he has suffered several fractures, quite possibly broken legs which would most certainly rule him our for much of the early 2011 season - these are yet to be confirmed.

The Renault team has however confirmed the Pole is conscious after being rushed to Hospital by helicopter. His co-driver, Jacub Gerber is reported to be unhurt.

This reshuffles the deck for Lotus v Lotus on track

Real shame for Kubica though, as his next drive really should be as a potential world champion, season out wont help

Damn. Hope he is OK - why do they let them do 'dangerous' stuff when they are already contracted to do 'dangerous' stuff?

But it begs the question too, Senna or Grosjean?

Thats really disappointing news.

ey ho, we can see if Sennas is real deal and not a journeyman living off a famous name sake.

As for Grosjean? Who?

He had his chance and did bugger all. It would be a travesty if the seat went to that lack of talent.

It's crazy to allow a driver to risk themselves, let alone when the guy's such an asset to the team. I hope he's ok, but I fear this will put him out of contention for a few races and leave him trying to play himself into the new cars/regs when the rest of the field are well on their way. As for a replacement... anyone got Kimi's number?

Liuzzi is one of the best drivers floating about IMHO. Cannot see Petrov or Senna or Grosjean being able to set a car up on their own

ventilating him like that looks a bit more serious than a hurty leg / wrist

Senna is the contracted and nominated reserve driver. Mind you, what about Hulkenberg? He has shown signs of promise.

Anyone see TF or Gascoyne near his car prior to the start? :innocent:

I hope that he recovers quickly. Theres not a better driver around at present IMHO. The finishes he had last year by far exceeded what was a mediocre car.

Youtube has footage from a news report showing the car after the crash. (it's not gruesome).
At 0:23 you can see what appears to be the hole made when the armco pierced through the front. :(

My understanding from an unofficial report was that he was not on stage when it happened but was travelling between stages!!

All the best to him though, hope he pulls through quickly!!
