I know very little about Buckethead's guitaring, but I know he's popular in the States.

I had a chance the other day to play both the Gibson Buckethead Les Paul Studio...
...and the even nicer Buckethead Signature Les Paul...
...and was blown away. Despite knowing the man on a first name basis because I used to go see him almost weekly for years, I've never owned a Les Paul because they always felt too heavy too me and I don't like solidbodies with carved tops, but these Buckethead models are fascinating. The body is 10% oversized and chambered and incredibly comfortable and well-balanced. But despite the target market (and not being able to play a lick of shred myself) because of the 27" scale length it has a fantastic semi-throaty clean tone that sounded amazing through, of all things, a Fender '65 Super Reverb. Also great with moderate overdrive on the amp. Oddly, I thought they both sounded like crap when really cranked or run through a Tube Screamer clone. And the kill-switches are a pisser with a delay.
