5 years ago when I bought my S1 restoration project I emptied all its bodily fluids out, including the oil in the gearbox. I've never taken the lid off the box and it's sat inside my garage the whole time. I'm now worried that it may be rusting inside? Should I just fill it up with any old oil until I get round to looking at it or is it probably too late now. Of course, when I emptied it I didn't expect it to take this long but you know how it is!!

I wouldn't worry about it as long as it's sealed no moisture is going to get in & do any damage but pouring in some oil & rolling it around a bit & then spinning the input & output shafts wouldn't do any harm if you're worried. Posted Image

Okay, I'll probably put some cheap oil in it whilst it sits there, I guess it can't do any harm. Then I'll get some proper stuff when I get that far.

Cheers, Paul.

Yes, no worries. Take off the complete cover. Not only the cover of crossover shaft.
Nothing will fall out.

Harry Still looking into it !!Q the ratio the same on n/a and turbo then, they have numbers on one box c3952 and on the other box i have its got e3661,is the E3661 early and c3952 later box ? <and later revised casing>?
also the gear ratio are they the same na /turbo? so interchangable <not sure if bell housing diffrent>.
so are CWP the same ie: final drive ?
the boxes look the same to my untrained eye both have slave cylinder on the right and gearchange looks same as well also on the right hand side of both and one has thicker main arm and an angle bend .not sure relevent..
any thoughts peeps done search on here and the net and going bog eyed now. :help:
thanks in advabnce.

Hi, ratios are all the same. Numbers on casing are only for production and are matching numbers for casing and bellhousing.

there are 3 type imho. Non Turbo, Turbo " previous Citroen" and Turbo C35.
Non Turbo and Turbo "previous Citroen" have 2 drainplugs, Turbo C35 only one.

Turbo version allways has clutch control on the side.

C35 has thicker and angle bend main arm.

cheers,

Harr
