Out and about to day went to see some friends and while on the way stopped off at an old MTB riding downhill track I used to ride. I spotted this car and the owner Mike want's 10k for her.

Optimistic.

For less than £3k more you can get this baby with QED engine build, new paint and ace interior (granted it's a plus two):

Those are of course £20k elans...

But you have to do the following to your barn find to make it even close to the £20k cars you link to:

New old stock chassis, new old stock bodyshell, ground up restoration, type 26R body conversion, engine overhaul with new pistons. Restore it to concors condition, new wheels, tyres, suspension, rebuilt race spec engine. etc...

If you really can do that for £1000-£2000 then I totally agree you should do it mate, as a business!

Yes if I could do it for that from a standard barn find, that would be a great business. But I do know that this was put away from a project only a year ago. Mike has spent 5k working on her in 2010 and has no more spare cash to continue. This car runs and needs a bit of TLC.

If this had been left for many years then it would cost a shed load but maybe I should of put as a title. Project car only placed in barn one year ago.. :)

I just hope that someone may would like the work / project to do and maybe make a little cash.

Could be a bargain.  Could be a money pit.  However, it does let you bring up to spec with the new owner being confident in the level of workmanship being doen on it rather than buying a restored car which was done by some corner-cutting rogue.

Thats worth more than £20k done.

The S3 Drophead (and I guess it started life as a drophead, as the fixed heads are easily converted) are nearly as desirable as a Sprint.

50th anniversary this year. It'll be worth £30k by the summer if properly and accurately restored (which you won't do satisfactorily in time for the anniversary :)
