Evening all,
As part of a front suspension/hub overhaul, I've replaced the front lower suspension link bushes with polybushes from SJ Sportscars. The original spec bushes (lower link to chassis) had a rather Heath Robinson spacing washer arrangement. It doesn't look as though they are required with the polybushes but I want to check before reassembly. The polybushes were supplied with a couple of washers.

Has anyone fitted the polybushes to the front lower links on an S2 and if so can you advise on any spacers that may be required.

Any photos or diagrams (hand drawn will do) would naturally be helpful!

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Will.

hi Will, ive fitted these bushes recently and as far as i can remember i fitted the washers, but im not sure their spacers? i assumed they protect the ends of the bushes from rubbing against the lower links, i could be wrong of course!? Cheers Paul

Thanks Paul,

You're right - they can only go in two positions:
1) Under the head of the bolt/nut;
or
2) Between the polybush flange and the chassis spigot.

On the older bush, the washers were in position (2) but different sizes (and shapes!) which looked like they provided some form of spacing in the horizontal (front to rear) plane.

Upon reflection, I can't see why they'd need spacing (as top wishbone link is centralised), so I'll go for the suggested option (2).
Let's hope those misshapen spacing washers from the old set up don't have to be part of the new installation!
Thanks Paul,
Will.
