I bought the component parts a little while ago and thought (stupidly) it would be a fairly simple job.
Having removed the airbox I can see the pressure guage outlet and having unscrewed I assumed I be able to swap in the electrical sender (http://www.merlinmot...oduct_info.html).
Turns out there's not enough clearance to fit it there and it's possible that the threads are different sizes.
Has anyone successfully done this? I'm thinking I'll have to create a short 'extension' to screw into the engine block. Does anyone know the sizing of the pressure outlet?

Hi Chris,
My car has an electrical oil pressure guage but I didn't fit it! I can however answer that it is possible!
It was done by Malc Holmes who owned the car prior to me, but I don't think he visits TLF these days as he no longer owns a Lotus.
If you want me to take any pics let me know. You can see the guage in this photo, which is my MDF dash mask which I am really pleased with!

Why should you want to change to some electrical thing that has more chance of going wrong? Also, being a pedant, it's a GAUGE...... not a GOO-AGGY(!) I had bags of fun simply changing the capillary tube on mine, after I'd torn the original apart by standing on it.... getting the new one fed through the bulkhead and along the centre spine was a pain. The engine fitting is a tapered thread, which probably won't mate to the electrical sender without effort....have fun.....

I humbly apologise on behalf of myself and Neil for our incorrect use of the Queen's english.
Thanks for your answer, it really helps solve my question.
Neil, if you get the chance, could you take a photo under your airbox where the outlet is for the tubing. I'm intrigued to know what you've got under there!

I would also like to say sorry for my spelling.
No problem Chris, I will probably do that Tuesday when the car is outside and I can get better access to it.

Ive done this as part of my s2 s1 dash swap. Type this into ebay...
Brass Hose 1/4" Barb x 1/4" Female NPT Water Fuel Boat
These should fit your oil outlet on the engine and if youre lucky your new sender too. All you will need now is a short length of oil pipe to join them together. Despite being in canada they took about two days to arrive and are far cheaper than any uk stockists I could find. A bit of electrickery and you should be good to go.

I've always got all my car plumbing bits from Think Automotive in Isleworth...was just down the road when I was in Kew. Great types, keep everything you can think of and make up Goodridge hoses while you wait.
http://www.thinkauto.com/ is their website...worth a browse.
As for the spelling....no need for apologies, chaps, I was being a bit grumpy that day....and with the weather where we are moored at Misery Factor 8.3, cheefulness is at a premium today as well....
