Wow doesn't time fly, i've had the old girl for just over a year now!. She has now covered 125,000 miles below are issues i've had

abs sensor failed
burst steel brake pipe. (knew they were bad it let go before i had chance to renew them)
burst water coolant hose (managed to shut down engine before temps got out of control & damage was caused) i was very very lucky
troublesome temp gauge, seems ok now dirty contacts inside gauge
faulty n/s electric window (dirty contact in multi plug behind dash).

All in i'm quite impressed after owning porsche's for the last 17yrs its certainly been no worse.

So far i have carried out all repairs etc myself. I have the car booked in with esprit engineering this weekend to carry out an A service, purely to maintain the collection of servicing stamps in the booklet & to let someone experienced with esprits to cast an eye over everything.

Future jobs will include replacing p.a.s. pipes, fuel balance pipe, clutch steel pipe and maybe radiator as they are all in very poor condition (not helped by daily use in all weathers) .

hopefully i will also fit a 350ecm & some other bits & bobs

I have been really pleased and impressed with the old girl so far & would like to thank all you guys for creating such a great resource of info within this forum as well as individual help and guidance

Steve,

Nice to read about your experiences. Also it is amazing how quick time goes. However glad to see you are getting lots of use out of your car.

Hopefully you get to use your boat just as much...lol...I know I do not get to use mine as much as I would like...

Had mine A serviced and MOT'd last week. When I called to book it in they couldn't believe they hadn't seen it for a year. Although I've been picking up bits and bobs from eBay etc for future use, the only thing I've had to do on the car in the past 12 months, is put a new set of tires on.

As for the MOT, she needed new brake pipes front and rear, a blinking ABS light sorted (failed sensors at the front) and a new top ball joint and gaiter at the front (I remember the pothole well). Oh, and the headlamp beam adjusting slightly. Not bad after 12 months and 7k miles (over 60k now).

Well pleased, as is my bank manager....

mark: glad to hear you've had quite a fortunate year with yours aswell, i also had to re-adjust headlights for mot, mainly because i had previously fitted new motor linkages & moved the adjustment to improve panel alignment. Lets hope this coming year will be just as uneventful

Chris: i re launched the boat in april after pulling her out the water in january & have only been out on her once since!!! mainly due to poor weather. I have been on her pottering about etc though, The weather is starting to really improve now so heres hoping to plenty of useage over the summer. The mood in Weymouth harbour is very sombre after the tragic loss of 3 fishermen this week r.i.p.

The MOT was a breeze this year but there were a couple of other niggles to sort so Craig wasn't to unhappy Al - A/C had to be regassed, this service included coolant and brake fluid replacement, small coolant leak needed fixing so he did get a little more than just the service fee out of me. Next one is the biggie and we decided to delay the new turbos, oil/coolant pipes, new plugs etc etc until then. So I'd better start saving. I'll be replacing the springs and shocks later this summer so he will be seeing me again soon.

I won't be at the June breakfast meet I'm afraid - its my birthday weekend and Jane and I are heading way up the west coast for the weekend.

Oh, and sorry about the tires. To long working with Yanks....
