Any idea what the white plastic "miniature venturi" bit might be? It's on my son's Saturn Sky Turbo, and I haven't a clue what it is or does. The picture was taken with the hood (bonnet) raised. The hood is hinged at the front of the car, and the headlight assembly is built into the hood. You are viewing the left front assembly, just forward of the left front wheel arch liner. With the hood closed, neither opening of the "tube" aligns with anything obvious.

Agree it's most likely a drain of some sort...possibly to drain condensation?

They are a guide for the screwdriver which you'll use to adjust the headlight alignment. Seriously.

Intriguing answer, El Bibbo. Since I assume that the alignment would normally be done with the hood closed (so that the beam was aimed parallel to the ground, instead of 45 degrees downward), how do I squeeze under the hood to perform the adjustment? Or is this a hobbit-sized mechanic's duty? <_<

Remove those orange light things you Americans are so fond of. Since it's a big of an 'eye of the needle' job to get the screwdriver in there with the bonnet closed, there's a handy guide :)

The pragmatist in me has a suggestion. Take it off and see what happens.....if nothing, don't put it back!!!

OK, I accept the explanation, and many thanks for providing it. However, I have to know how the heck someone in a "non-Saturn" part of the planet picked up this highly esoteric bit of knowledge. Are there other examples/precedents in the UK of this design feature?

The man is simply a wealth of automotive esoterica. A "car guy" guru awash in trivia, some of it even useful. :unworthy:
