Anyone know of anyone selling a lotus esprit turbo se car or parts?!

28 February 2012 - 04:19 PM

I'm looking to get my 1991 se rebuilt and back on the road. The major stumbling block seams to be the engine, the nikasil liners are fubar’ed and before it was broken down into bits it was hand turned over it sounded like it was full of grit!

it has been recommended to me that a donor car may be the way to go because of all the little bits that will soon add up to a big bill.

However I would consider anything from a complete vehicle to just an engine with ancillaries, front end crash damaged doesn’t bother me (I’ve spent lots of cash on new parts for the front already), so ideally I’m looking for an abandoned project, a complete cheap vehicle or just parts.

I figure I would pay better than a breaker, because I’m not trying to make their margins out of it.

Any help would be much appreciated

Rad removal tips please

1st proper post.  I have a 1992 Esprit SE. I also have a workshop manual- its been great the rest of the time but for this one it seems a bit vague.

I need to remove the radiator,  my question is how much of the front end of the car has to come off to get the rad out and does anyone have any top tips for making my life a bit easier whilst I’m doing it! is there a guide for this online? (i can dream!)

On the bright side i do have a proper lift for this one, but it still looks like it could take a while!

I had no choice but to buy it...it looked so sad!

Hi All

I’ve been lurking on other forums for a while now, this is my first post, this group seems more active than the others(to put it bluntly!).  Long time fan of Lotus, i had a picture of an esprit up on my bedroom wall when I was 12... now I’m lucky enough to own onePosted Image

I’ve bought a 1992 Esprit SE, An Epic Restoration Project, the previous owner took the gearbox out 9 years ago to get it refurbished and it never went back in. since then for various reasons everything has been removed and stored, and I’m looking forward to putting it all back in! I should have some photos of a gleaming engine in a couple of weeks, if anyone’s interested.  The first picture shows what it looked like the day it arrived, the second I put in cus it made me laugh after I spent three hours cleaning it!

Rob.
