Petition for Classic car tax

26 October 2011 - 07:46 PM

http://epetitions.di...k/petitions/183

Hi Everyone
Please can you view this link and sign if you wish, this gent is trying to get 100,000 signatures using the Goverment epetition scheme to re-introduce the 30 year tax excempt policy for historic cars, with the help of clubs and forums hopefully the subject can be raised in the House of commons as the scheme should never have been capped at pre 1973 cars. Most classics are only used as second or third vehicles so don't use the roads like everyday cars making the current tax system unfair.
He currently has 9278 so needs as much help as possible.
Many Thanks
Dave

Excel Celebration Project

03 October 2011 - 05:27 PM

Hi Everyone

Here is my latest project, I bought the car from Copart listed as Vandal damage. From the pics the car seemed to have had the clocks removed and all the wiring was hanging out.
On getting the car back to Plymouth I soon had her running and all seemed well, on opening the boot I found all the missing parts so alarm bells started to ring....Why was it written off?
The car has done 62000 miles and apart from clear coat peel on the roof and spoiler all seemed ok, some of the wiring was damaged though which did seem odd.

As I had the V5 I wrote a letter to the last owner who replied by e-mail in a couple of days, he informed me a rat got in the car and eat some of the wiring behind the dash causing the loss of the dipped beam, wipers, radio etc. He was advised the car needed a new fascia loom which with labour and the risk of any further damage the car was deemed CAT D and written off.
He has confirmed the mileage and does have all the history which he is turning out, he was pleased the car went to a Lotus club member so is happy to help out.
I will keep him posted on progress.

I have since sourced a replacement loom as the car has a CAT 1 alarm which has also been rat attacked and needs removing now, the new loom will make this easier.
The car is now down the bodyshop having all the paintwork done before I bring it home and remove the dash.
Other items I need to fix are the headlights have rotted, front fog light is cracked and a little wiring under the bonnet where ratty has had some supper to finish off, he also stripped the outer silicone from the HT leads. Amazing as he even bit through spade terminals in the plugs.

I will keep progress updated as I am sure more problems will come to light before she is road worthy again.

Excel Fuses

06 September 2011 - 05:14 PM

Hi Everyone
Does anyone have a list of the fuses with the amp rating for the Excel SE 91 fusebox?

I have just bought a Celebration Excel needing some work and don't have a handbook, someone has removed all the fuses so not sure which one is for what and the rating.

I have tried to obtain a handbook without luck, if anyone can scan the relevant page that would be a great help.

Many Thanks
Dave
