She passed.

21 June 2011 - 12:08 PM

Well, she finally managed to do it.  After six months of trundling around with L plates on, in a combination of her instructor's Citroen and her own little Christmas Pressie, my daughter passed her driving test this morning at her first attempt, with only 6 'minors' she's keen to point out. (One of which was for "Eco Driving"  That's my girl. :D )
Came back home and with some frantic keyboard pressing we got her insured for a not unreasonable £1300.  That included having a responsible adult included on the policy - which knocked off about £700.

She's just left for college all on her own and is extremely pleased to be mobile.  I'm gutted, because it was quite handy having a cheap runabout on the driveway to use!

Sir Stirling retires.

10 June 2011 - 08:48 AM

After over 60 years of being a legend Sir Stirling Moss OBE has decided to hang up his competitive racing gloves.  My cap is suitably doffed.

"This afternoon I scared myself and I have always said that if I felt I was not up to it or that I was getting in the way of fellow competitors, then I would retire.”

Denmark to ban Marmite!

25 May 2011 - 03:47 PM

It's being reported that Denmark may force Marmite off the shelves as it hasn't been submitted for any of their tests for such foodstuffs:

A spokesman for the Danish Food and Veterinary Administration said: "We have no record of an application for the sale of the product, so we have neither forbidden or accepted it."

BBC clicky  I like the bit about potential civil disobedience if it does get bannned! :D
