Red Evora In Newbury 8.50 a.m. Sunday

06 May 2012 - 11:47 AM

Saw a lovely '10' reg Evora at the Robin Hood roundabout heading north up the A34.

As it accelerated away up the dual carriage way it sounded glorious.

Anyone on here?

Cambelt Snapped

Well, the title says it all.

Sue's lovely 84 TE decided to celebrate in an unusual way after passing its MOT today.

Just a few hundred yards from home the car stalled whilst coasting to a stop at some traffic lights.

Fortunately at low speed but still prepared to find 16 bent valves when I take the head off.

The only comfort is that I wasn't driving it at the time otherwise the thread would be entitled "I broke it yet again"

Blue Smoke From The Exhaust?

18 February 2012 - 02:14 PM

Hi

I am helping a fellow with a 84 TE 910 LC engined esprit.

Sadly I did not see the problem for myself but he tells me there was a lot of blue smoke from the exhaust. A non specialist garage has removed the engine but then stopped.
I helped him to strip the engine today to look for any obvious problems.

All looks fine

Apart from two points which I would like opinions;

1) there appears to be a lot of up and down movement in the turbo shaft not end float

2) I can fit a 10 thou feeler gauge between piston and liner but the manual says 5 thou.

Haven't stripped the head yet presumably worn inlet or exhaust guides might also be a cause?
