6th for Kimi and another lap 1 incident for Romain in Japan

2012 Japanese Grand Prix - Sunday

Kimi Räikkönen came home a solid sixth, maintaining his third position in the Drivers’ Championship, whilst Romain Grosjean finished a classified 19th after retiring from 15th position on track after an eventful Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka. The team remains fourth in the Constructors’ Championship with increased gaps of 103 points to Mercedes behind and 24 to Ferrari ahead. Both drivers started on Pirelli’s soft compound tyres. Kimi Räikkönen scored a strong fifth place in the Italian Grand Prix to move him into third position in the Drivers’ Championship after a hot and fast-paced race at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza. Kimi is now just one point off second-placed Lewis Hamilton, whilst the team falls to fourth position in the Constructors’ Championship. Lotus F1 Team finished in a strong fifth and sixth position after a fast-paced British Grand Prix at Silverstone today. Kimi Räikkönen led home team-mate Romain Grosjean in a dry race, with the former setting the race’s fastest lap, and the latter posting the second fastest time. Lotus F1 Team secured another podium finish thanks to a searing performance from Kimi Räikkönen to finish second in today’s European Grand Prix. The Finn was terrific through the traffic and was able to challenge at the front right to the end of the race. For Romain Grosjean, hopes of another podium were dashed after an alternator failure at two thirds race distance whilst running second. Romain Grosjean benefitted from an aggressive tyre strategy whilst Kimi Räikkönen ultimately lost out in a fast-paced and exciting Chinese Grand Prix at the Shanghai International Circuit. Romain went from tenth on the grid to finish in sixth, whilst Kimi ran strongly in second place until his tyres could no longer deliver sufficient performance, finally finishing in 14th.
