Lotus Indycar and ALMS – Long Beach, CA

ALMS

AMERICAN LE MANS SERIES – LONG BEACH Lotus AJR’s Evora took the chequered flag in its first ALMS race at the weekend at Long Beach. Bill Sweedler was at the wheel at the start of the race and was hit from behind as he braked to avoid a stopped car. He was spun around and then, moments later, hit for a second time which caused severe damage to the exhaust and robbed the Evora of valuable horsepower. The crew made repairs, but Sweedler and team-mate Townsend Bell were down several laps. They soldiered on to take the flag. Bill Sweedler: “It was an unfortunate … [Read more...]

Evora takes the spoils in second Lotus 1000km

Evora

Gavan Kershaw and Stuart Hall have won the second Lotus 1000km, driving a Strattons-run Evora. Whilst the team were favourites for victory, they were pushed all the way by last year’s pacesetters GWS. The thirstier V6 was barely three minutes ahead of the challenging Exige and potentially required an extra stop before the 515-lap distance was completed. However when Jamie Stanley brought the GWS car in for an unscheduled stop in the final hour and was unable to resume battle, the matter was settled. This left Doug and Chris Setters, plus Chris Headlam in the … [Read more...]

Evora-CAI-5

Oregon, USA based Radium Engineering have released a new product they claim will release up to 21.5 extra peak horsepower over the OEM intake system for the naturally aspirated Evora along with a significant increase in torque throughout the range. We've not tested the system directly but a few TLF members have fitted the kits and are so far very impressed with the 'seat of the pants' dyno results and induction sound improvements. The Radium CAI (Cold Air Intake) kit includes everything you need to replace the stock system and they say it takes less than an hour to … [Read more...]

Chris Evans

Broadcaster and car enthusiast Chris Evans visited Lotus yesterday to agree the final spec of the Evora S he bought at auction to raise money for Freddie Mercury’s charity Mercury Phoenix Trust. At a glamorous, star-studded event at the Savoy last month, the great and beautiful gathered to mark the late Freddie Mercury’s 65th Birthday and boy, was it a party!  A guilt-free party at that, for at the heart of the celebrations was a very deserving cause, the Mercury Phoenix Trust who work relentlessly to improve education and awareness of HIV and AIDS in the … [Read more...]

Lotus Evora Long Term Test – Moving on up…

Evora_S-4

After 3 months and 5,000+ miles in the Evora NA it's time to move into something a little more pacey! Before I go into all the details though I just wanted to wrap up the final month with the canyon red car, the very one Mr Alesi himself so famously graced in 'that' picture. Over the period of time I've had the car, it was good, very good. In terms of what I expected from the car it covered its bases and then some especially with regards to it's dynamic ability on the roads and how easy it is to drive well. The ride and handling is very true to form of a Lotus if not … [Read more...]
