A labour of love... Using all available sources - the V8 parts manual, service manual, Google, Google Images, forums and threads and with one or two leads from old databases I have compiled a comprehensive list of ECM related parts, manufacturers cross references and alternatives. It is as close as I can get it, but I accept no responsibility for imperfection. Errors and omissions excepted. Caveat Emptor! If you find any inaccuracies or have more information then please let me know. When Bibs sorts out the table editor I will add this in a post but for now it is in downloadable spreadsheet form. Associated diagrams below. Some of these parts are applic…

Is there really a Torx bit in the V8 toolkit? I've acquired a toolkit and its missing one tool. the only image I can find online shows a t20 Torx key. In the parts manual it looks like a Torx key as well. However I'm unaware of any Torx screws in the v8?? Does anyone know or have an image of a complete toolkit Cheers Andy

Does anyone know where I can find the LCD odometer display? Mine is slowly dying. I don't need to replace the speedometer just the odometer.

I’ve had a look but can’t see any threads within pictures showing how to remove the tanks on V8. I have the engine out so thought I should check them. Any have any pictures or a thread which I’ve missed? Thx Chris

So this morning the ignition cylinder on the Lotus decided to lock up, I have messed with it for some time trying Graphite Lube, then Lock De-Icer, then taping it, then hitting it a little harder out of frustration and it will not turn. I have also tried turning the steering wheel while doing all this it is just locked up for whatever reason. I noticed a GM Stamp in the casting but I have not found any reference to what this part reference might be for me to look one up and hopefully find one in the states. Would be great to also get the car running again just so I can move it around to my back pad and keep it there and just use this as an opportunity to do my intake…

Hi all! I need a favor. I am creating a parts cross reference list. As you do work on your V8s I was wondering if you could send me label information from parts like alternators, power steering pumps, fans, etc. So far, I have most of the A/C components on my list as well as headlamps. If you contribute I will make surethe proper credit is given. Hopefully once I have completed this list, LEW could post it in its parts section. Thank you.

It would be nice to have a reference of the estimated labour time it 'roughly' takes to do maintenance/repairs/replacements/modifications for some of the Esprit V8 specific tasks. It would help to budget for future maintenance/modifications and check invoices. I would like to know the labour for the following tasks : timing belts - engine rebuild - gearbox rebuild - new clutch - new radiator - new condensors - new brake discs and pads - new suspension - new fuel tanks - new exhaust. A rough estimate/range in hours is sufficient.

Every time I go to the fuel station it takes me for ever to fuel my Esprit V8.. I understand that the fuel tank is split it 2 tanks and there is a hose connecting the two, so it takes extra time for the fuel to move from one tank to the other.. Furthermore, I recently replaced the fuel gauge, but still it is fairly inaccurate when the fuel is low.. It shows zero and then jumps up to 10%.. Too risky not to fuel up.. I have never been able to put more than 50 liters, even thought the tank says it can carry 70 liters.. Also with 50 liter I can do around 125 miles / 200 km for aggressive spirited driving.. Highway it becomes almost double.. is this n…

Anyone know an alternate source or part call-up for the round button switches on the top of the late V8 centre stack? Lotus only? I don't see them listed as available on the SJ site. Thx Stu

V8 vs S4 Weight 1 2 3

Just doing some suspension investigation and queried the unladen weight differences between S4, S350 and V8GT/SE. According to the LEW models pages there is bugger all difference. All around 1320KG ? My understanding to date has been that one of the reasons for the S4 0-60 time being so close to the V8's was the lower weight of the 4pot engine against the v8. This however doesnt appear to be the case. So are the weights right ? and if so were does the v8 make up the weight difference to account for the much heavier v8 engine ? or is there not that much difference in the weight of the V8 against the 4pot ?

I have found various options for the filter such as Mobil 1, Fram, K&N, NAPA and "compatibles" with no name (that I would avoid!) My question is, is there one that is "best"? or failing that which are "bad" my oil looks like new, but I may give it a change anyway. Many thanks!

Hi Alan, I don't suppose you found an alternative for the fuel filter, #15 below. I've just drained ~20L of 6 year old fluid and I think the filter may benefit from a replacement. :-) cheers -Chris

Hi, In the service part list code, there are 2 codes which are referenced for the OEM Radio/CD Player (there is also a cassette option which I am not interested in) A082M6631F, then substituded by A082M6677F. Both codes refer to an ALPINE system. This should be OEM for the Esprit 1996-2004 model and was also original spare part for S1 Elise and Exige. Unfortunately, the S1 was never fitted with an original radio, but only a radio fitting kit. I am trying to figure out to which system the OEM codes refer to. Could you help me out and tell me what is the name of the Radio/CD as standard equipment on Esprits around 1999? Many Thanks

Having been a member for almost 12 hours now, perhaps I shouldn’t start right in by taking before I give. However, as a Lotus newby I have precious little knowledge to share. So - here are a couple questions I couldn’t answer using the search function. First, my car is a 1997 Turbo Esprit V8. I am the second owner and bought it with every service record from new. But, no original key (only one after market key) and no owner’s manual (I think Lotus calls it an owner’s handbook?). Any potential sources or leads would be greatly appreciated!

I saw a picture on the google machine of an esprit with some round lights, after much hunting down, I found they were Hella per the following part nos. Sadly they are a bit plastic heavy and expensive to 3d Print. There still maybe a bit of filing and triming on the rear p…

I've been lucky enough to find a glass roof panel for the Esprit, unfortunately it came without the rear latches. The mounting blocks are attached and I believe my original latches are interchangeable, but I'd like to be able to use both roofs without swapping parts over. Does anyone have a spare one knocking about? Were they pinched from another cars parts bin? Have you ever cross reffed these @swindon_alan? Any help much appreciated.
