Hello from Canada! Just joined the Esprit fraternity by buying my first Lotus (2000 MY). I've always loved the car, especially after seeing it in Basic instinct and Pretty Women years ago. It is everthing I hoped it would be and more, plus it seems that most minor repairs will be easy to do myself!! Not sure how many other Canucks are members, but if there are fell free to drop me a line... bkmartineau@shaw.ca

Hello, everyone. My name is Scott. I am 31 and I currently live in Missouri, United States. By day I am a Computer Programmer currently specializing in Java web development, but I've always had a passion for sports and exotic cars. I've been in love with the idea of owning an Esprit for many years. I plan pretty far ahead before buying an expensive or exotic car, and I have my sights set on an Esprit sometime in the next couple of years (although I am also considering other options). The Esprit has always been BY FAR my favorite car as far as styling goes, and I've always appreciated the engine and interor design as well. Cars I have owned in the past and prese…

Hello everybody, It is a pleasure to me to visit this forum and to be a member from this day. I am redundant (63) since 2 years and living in the centre of the Netherlands, a country where Esprits are very rare. May be you see one on the road every two years; I estimate that the total number of all types of Esprits (S1-V8) in the Netherlands is approx. 30 units. Mine is from 1990; I purchased it in 1993 with 25.000 km; since my 13-years marriage with my Esprit Turbo SE I travelled 21.000 km; a total now of 46.000 km. It is in a pefect/as new condition and gives me a great deal of fun. My regular car is a classic Saab 900c from 1989, with 91.000 km on the tacho…

Hello from the other side of the pond. As a true American I worked my way through the Vettes, Vipers, and finally a dream (nightmare) car, an 88 Ferrari Testarossa. Then I tried the long awaited US version of the Elise, and turned in the Testarossa the next day for my current Lotus Elise. I have a leased Range Rover Sport, but have given much thought to consolidating to one car for both sports and daily driver. The Elise doesn't have enough of a boot (trunk) and getting in and out, particularly when it rains, is quite a job if one makes several stops in a day. But the lightness and handling takes me back to my TR4, MGB days of the 60s and 70s (I'm 56) for light…

Hello Chaps An avid Esprit fan here, from the Bond era - seen it, loved, bought it! Living in Birmingham and enjoying my '88 2.2 N/A. Ive had the car for 3 years now and am still in the honeymoon period. Would love to upgrade to an S4S or an late V8, but am not a super fan of the spoilers. Anyway, its nice to see you guys and if there's anyone from the West Midlands, it would be great to here from you. My mail and msn is dearboss@hotmail.com. Now onto my list of gripes with the Esprit... ...Well maybe later... Cheers Rash

Long time no see for many of the core guys here who would know me from Piston heads, SELOC, Yahoo and of course Unity1. I've been a little pre occupied with life outside of Lotus circles but now will hopefully be able to get Loti out every now and again (I've barely done 1000 miles in the last two years which is shameful). As a quick run down, Dee and myself have had a failed pregnancy which is where my life was re evaluated and I dropped off the scene, Moved house which enabled me to aid other family issues at the time and also a fresh start, Had a baby boy which although was touch and go at first is now a very happy and healthy 9 month old. Almost sold Loti due t…

I was surfing the internet for various car sites/message boards for information about 1980's model Lotus, Ferrari, and Maserati vehicles, stumbled across this site and decided to register. The main reason is that in the next several years I am looking into possibly purchasing one of the three so my other car has a stable mate. Granted I have almost given the up the idea of a Ferrari (308 or Mondial)based on the up front expense, but I am continuing to research the Lotus Esprit, 1987 Maserati Biturbo Spyder and a 1981-83 DeLorean DMC. Not that I believe that the cost of maintaining these vehicles is any less than a Ferrari of similar age, but the up front cost of purchase …

Hello to all, not so new to Lotus Cars but new to posting on the forum. Have a '98 V8GT Esprit which I have owned from about 6 months from registration and an '95 M100 Elan since last summer. Previous cars have included S1 and S2 Elise and a 340R which was fantastic fun but I am glad I sold it last year. Thanks for the great information on the site. If anyone is interested I just had Turbo Technic rebuild both of my turbo's and they did a great job and also had the cat pipes reconditioned at Hanger111 and they also did a great job. Booked for the jolly in a few weeks and hope to meet a few of you there. Marc

Hi Sorry I've not introduced myself before: I've been lurking on the Forum for a while - but now it's time to come out of the closet... My name is Ben Ansell, and I own an Esprit. There. I've said it. I've just taken the plunge and bought myself a beauuuuutiful 1994 Pacific Blue S4 from Paul Matty Sportscars. It's in great condition, and was obviously loved by the previous owner (if you're listening - thanks!) So see you on the Forum - and please don't be annoyed if I ask loads of dumb questions. All the best, Ben Ansell Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire

Hello all.I am new to this forum idea as well as being an Esprit virgin.I am the proud owner of a Norfolk Mustard 96 V8 beast,I have tried warp drive(where everone else seems to be going backwards) and I love the car.I'm hoping my stint as keeper of this beauty is not going to be too painful, and the joys outweigh the woes, but who knows?

Hello all, long time listener first time caller. I am looking at shelling out about 10k for an Esprit SE, but need a few questions answered and suspect only you guys would know the answers. Firstly, how usable would it be for someone to use this as a first (and only) car doing around 8-10k miles a year? and how expensive would it be to make it do that many miles in terms of running costs and servicing/repairs? Would it be reliable enough to use as an only car? All these questions are asked presuming I get the 'right' car, i.e, a well maintained one and not a complete shed. I know a 16 year old Esprit wouldn't be without its problems, but I am a few years off b…
