I'm comming from Croatia, and no I do not drive an esprit Just a month ago I traded my BMW 535i (my first V8 ) for an Alfa diesel And no, no esprit in plans for me, I'm still young and can not afford one, but that does not mean I can not hope for one in like 20 years from now The first time I saw an review in a magazine I just ... dont know, well mine face looked something like this I am a big fan of esprit, as of V8 engines, hence the reason I bought a 3.5 liter V8 engined BMW Well, I will try not to bother you much and simply enyoj reading posts from esprit owners. So much from me, if you have any que…

Yo yo Picked up the address from a thread on glcforum in which Bibbo was telling of the wonders of Lotus ownership. Personally I have an S2, not the kind you guys would own, but the Audi variety. Kinda my dream car, however I have always had a soft spot for Lotus weapons, probably through my childhood fascination with a certain spy movie franchise. Anyhoo, just thought I'd put me head round t'door and say hello and have a gander at what you're up to! Cheers Kris

Lotus owners will understand this. Others will just think I'm odd. Yesterday I brought a long-lost lover back to Douglas (Isle of Man) in the SuperSeaCat's belly. She's a glorious red Lotus Esprit Turbo SE that I bought new in 1990 (when I had lots of money) and laid up reluctantly in 1997 after I'd moved to the island, couldn't find work and had none. She sat gathering dust in a lock-up for 5 years (

Howdy from Dublin. Been considering an Esprit for a long time now - test driven 3 over the past 2 years. All advice to date for a beginner like me is to go for a S3 or S3 turbo Yesterday I was about to buy one in Ireland when it slipped through my fingers as the previous owner chickened out of selling his 1983 S3. Quote "when I saw you drive off in the car I knew you were really serious and that scared me - I'll never get one as good again" So today.... I have decided to start all over again .... looking farther afield to my friends in the UK. Folks, I would welcome any comments / advice / warnings etc, or anyone that can point me in the right direction f…

Hi Everyone, My names Martyn as you've probably already worked out !. After wanting an Esprit for as long as I can remember I've finaly got one here it is It's a 1989 Turbo SE. Was originaly looking for an S4 but saw this SE in a dealers and decided it might be a safer bet than buying privately after reading the advice on LEW, plus it was the colour I wanted and had the glass back and sun roof which where high on my list of wants as well as that nice big wing on the back. It's done 44,000 and has got a full service history and lots of bills etc. The guy I bought it from has been servicing it from nearly new and he reckons its as quick now as it was when …

Thought I would pop in and say Hi, and maybe get some of your tips and suggestions. This would be my first Esprit, however I owned a Detomaso Pantera for about 11 years. When I bought it, it needed help and it took me about 7 years to restore it to the point that I was happy. I sold it about 2 years ago due to the traffic and my wife complaing she could not put her new BMW in the garage. I have moved to a different area and am getting the itch to do another exotic. I know nothing about the Esprit so I would be in your debt to get some advise. The Pantera had its quirks and things to look and watch out for. Parts were not real expensive but not cheap either. F…

Hello ! Well, it's time to introduce myself it seems! My name's Alireza, 23, from Geneva, Switzerland. I'm rather into classic Italian cars but i always said the only Brit car i'd buy is the Lotus Esprit... and well, it's done! When i was young(-er) my dad had so many exciting cars, and i remember he always said the one he would love to have was the Lotus Esprit. Fascinating he said. So... during the summer of 2001, he got his S2 JPS ROW #012 in immaculate condition. Let's say the car was a breathtaking car to look at, but it kind of lacked peformance to match its look. He later sold the car... and never found another top condition Esprit to buy again. …

Time to say hello, as I have been lurking around gathering info from the tech section which is excellent (as well as many other websites too). Finally confident enough to start checking insurance quotes. Oh and checking the exact width of the garage doors...... ..... a V8SE or Sport350 is going to have to go through that gap one day soon! Just checking for import rules into France now.

I have always been a sucker for the Esprit. Now, I am thinking about actually buying one. I believe I am most interested in a S4 or S4S. I am in the US and am wondering the best way to find a good example as well as to test drive a number of cars. What is a reasonable price? Also, I am wondering what specific problems have arisen in the S4 and S4S as well as maintenance costs in the US .

if the admins dont mind i have posted this here.. well i have been let down again twice on esprits. i managed to get in touch with a friend who has two and he wanted to get rid of one, went to see him saw the car liked it, i wanted it. Now the thing is hes liked my z32 since i got it, its a rare edition and a rare colour so he offers a trade, i say yes. now the crux, the esprit needs to be serviced and mot'd , mine is due for mot and service, so we both agree to get them done then exchange, problem is i drive there to do deal when his is finished and... hes changed his mind!!. i then find another esprit go there offer to buy guy tries to rip me off!!! want 4k more t…

I am finally in the confusing stages of buying a Lotus Esprit and have found one - a Stevens 1987 Lotus Esprit Turbo. Here are the faults: 1) Air con doesn't work 2) Passenger Side window is slightly slow 3) There is a squeak in the engine 4) Slight bubbling of paint/surface rust on top of engine Good Points - 63000 miles - Clutch has just been replaced - Looks amazing! Bit worried about what (3) could be, any ideas (I know it's difficult without seeing it, just wondered if this is a symptom of a common problem) Thanks in advance Andy

Hi all, After dreaming for years I finally did it and bought myself a nice 91 SE. Pity it's been raining here pretty much continuously since I got it. Hope to be out on the suburban NY roads this summer.

Hey all, Requisite newbie post, here I am! To make a long story very short, after a long time thinking about the Esprit, I'm finally in a financial situation where it's... well... more feasible than before. I'm still combing posts here and search engines, but haven't yet been able to track down some info... So I was hoping you kind people might help with a sort of "rush" question on one car in particular that I've been eyeballing. It claims to be a 1988 SE, and the VIN decoder I tried (http://www.espritfactfile.com/VINDecode.html) seems to agree with this assessment. However some material is vaguely written to suggest that the SE wasn't available in 198…

Hello my fellow Lotus owners, Well after 20 years of a dream , I finally bought one. YES!!!!! I bought a 1989 white on black with 53000 miles. First ride was a dream. Everything I wished for. Then something horrific happened. After owning the car for three hours (after the prior owner dropped it off), the clutch burned out and I was stuck on the 405 freeway in So. California. What a bummer. A little embrassed. A guy with the best exotic car and I'm on the shoulder of a freeway waiting for a AAA to tow me. An NSX drive by and laugh, I nearly gave him the finger. Well, now I need to tow the car to the dealer and get a new clutch. But if anybody knows of a good indepe…

Hello everyone. My name is Pat, and I'm thinking about buying an Esprit S4 later this year. I've been doing a bit of research and I thought this would be a good place to start. This will be my second car (currently own a Honda Civic) and I was wondering how difficult it is to drive. I know a lot of these exotic cars were built mainly to go in straight paths, but I was wondering what the performance and handling is like at high speeds. I'm also up for any and all advice as to buying and owning an Esprit, so please, impart some wisdom onto a youngster like myself Thanks! -Pat

I'm looking for a series 1 (ideally) or series 2 (possibly) Esprit to restore. If you have one or know somebody who has one for sale please let me know. I've looked in all the usual places and only UK please. Thanks, Paul Coleman.

Hello all, I just purchased and picked up a 1997 Esprit White on tan with 16 K miles. I picked it up in Marion Illinois and drove it to Tampa Florida. Great trip! with the exception of a break down outside of Atlanta. But all the looks along the way was still worth it. And if anyone posted a spotted for Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Gorgia and Florida. It was probably me! This car had battery tender and I guess it it was just time for the battery to start dieing. Anyway hello. I will be asking a few questions along the way. Thanks and what a great site!

Well... I am not sure how to introduce myself, but if you cant guess my name then I think we may have problems. I have been searching for a new vehical for quite a long time. Every time I think about purchasing one, I always draw back in hopes of finding an Esprite that fits not only my tastes, but my wallet as well. I have placed bids on No-Reserve auctions, only to have the car withdrawn when it appears to be in my grasp. "Sorry I sold it localy..." Yehhh.. sure you did, see you again in 3 weeks. With all that aside, I think I may have found my Esprit. Its an 88' model, and although I was hoping for 90' I have no problems with the slightly older edition. …

hello everybody currently a Porsche 968 owner and am in blissful love with this car looking down the horizon both the Esprit V8 and the early-model Elise are tickling my fancy newer Elises are WAAAAAY too busy styling-wise for my tastes. . . I am into more reserved and refined styling. I have always been into cars that are a bit unique, eg., not so interested in the 911 but the 968 and 928 are definitely on my must-have list. Anyhoo, my fantasy list doesn't include a British car yet, so I thought I'd research these two Lotus models a bit and see what might be in my future. If any California owners would like to meet up that would be swell! …
