I've heard rumours from two independent sources that a famous Warwickshire based coffee & motors ('C&M') venue have finally found a second location to expand to. Luckily for me, it's about 15 minutes away from home, the former Chequers pub site north of Ampthill, Bedfordshire. As I've been discussing with a fellow Lotus owner on Instagram (who I'm not sure is on here) this is quite well placed with Millbrook, Bedford Autodrome and the motorways/large towns in easy reach. I think they're keeping it under wraps for now while the site is being developed, so let's not say their name.... but I couldn't resist sharing some good news to brighten up the 'summer…

Going to need a separate licence in Australia to drive any super carwith more than 370 bhp per 1000kg. Is this the future else where? https://uk.motor1.com/news/680455/australia-drivers-license-supercars/

Has anyone on here seen the new R version of the A110 in the flesh yet, or even better had the opportunity to drive one? At 1082kg all up it certainly seems to represent the ‘old Lotus’ hardcore weight saving, aero & chassis handling philosophy. That’s almost in S2 Exige territory, with considerably more comfort & utility. The 1.8l 4 pot with 296bhp/340nm & dual clutch transmission is probably the obvious weak spot on paper & for serious grunt on track between corners, but it certainly looks the part. Relatively expensive at £95k+, which is full spec Cayman GT4 territory and £10k+ more than an Emira, but 300kg+ lighter. Respect to Alpine for producing so…

https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/23690965.norfolk-neighbours-upset-lotus-staff-leaving-hethel-site/ Looks like the late night shift is not popular locally! Hopefully they can convince staff to leave quietly before they start putting cameras up (especially those new noise finders)

https://cardealermagazine.co.uk/publish/bmw-halts-the-sale-of-all-police-cars-to-forces-in-the-uk-with-immediate-effect/277526 Also says.. The halt of sales to the police follows a number of forces across the UK restricting duties carried out by BMW police cars featuring the N57 diesel engine. Some forces stopped the cars being used for high speed pursuits and relegated them to ‘less stressful’ duties. The N57 engine features in the 330d, 530d and X5 models used by police up and down the country.

I know this was posted somewhere ese, but maybe it warrants its own thread. The renowned museum of Lotus and Jim Clark miniatures Lotus Museum (Little) in the South of France is up for sale. My good friend and nearby neighbour, Marc is selling the complete inventory as he is downscaling his life in retirement. https://www.facebook.com/groups/845127388984842/permalink/2526525144178383/ It's a unique collection of cars and memorabilia that should not go lost.

Rather than make it free as they promised all those years ago, the price is being increased again to £2.50 for a car (from £1 in 2008) and you have to pay online or by phone (in in a shop or payzone, whatever that may be) as of Sunday 30th November. http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/cost-of-motoring/dartford-crossing-dart-charge.html Don't get caught out, the fine for not paying is £105, which is lovely and proportionate.

Car Transport 1 2

Interested in peoples experiences with getting their treasured Lotus (or other brand) cars transported. People seem to get cars transported for a variety of reasons including holidays, servicing, track days, renovation/upgrades, new purchase etc. So a couple of hopefully simple questions: 1. Why did you use a "service" to transport your car instead of driving it yourself? 2. How did you choose your service provider? (what was important to you? recommendations, price, professional approach/look, etc) 3. How much did it cost, how long in miles was the journey? (and what did you "feel" about the price? too cheap/expensive or good value for money). …

Hi all, Looking for advice. I've just been sent a reminder to pay £280 road tax on the Esprit which was manufactured on 19th October 1979 so well over the 40 year threshold. I can't get through to DVLA on the phone or via web chat. I want to keep the car taxed (runs out mid June) so I can use it. Any ideas on the quickest way to get this resolved? The V5C says the vehicle is PLG as opposed to historic but I assumed it would change automatically on the DVLA database. Obviously not... Cheers, Pete
