Evora Headlights / Headlamps I'm trying to get a handle on the extent of the problems with the Evora Headlights / Headlamps with a view to seeing if we can get the Factory / OEM suppliers to provide additional support as there seems to be issues causing early failures including: Peeling of protective layers LED bulb failures Etc. As these units are sealed, replacement is hugely expensive at around £1000 / Euro 1300 and $1500 per unit. As sealed, we would expect these to have a reasonable life span of say 10 years. If you own, or have owned, an Evora, and you have had a problem with the headlights / headlamps please could you either update this topic, or PM me with the …

Following on from my weekend thread about my drivers door window not closing properly against the top seal, I dropped in to Bell & Colvill this morning for a diagnosis. As feared/expected it's been diagnosed as the dreaded window regulator going bad and that'll be a cool £730, including fitting, to you sir! This is quite clearly a not unusual problem on the Evora and, in fact, I already had one replaced on the same window, with the same fault when the car was only about 4 months old but at least that was covered under warranty. So, what is causing this common issue? Is it poor location that is allowing the elements to corrode electrics? Is it poor design that jus…

I know it’s been discussed many times but I can’t find the definitive procedure for resetting the electric window, so can somebody please advise? I noticed this morning, the drivers door window of my GT410 isn’t sitting all the way closed, ie it’s dropped as it does when opening the door but won’t close fully when shutting the door. I sat in it, turned on the ignition, lowered the window and held the switch for 5 seconds, then raised the window, holding the switch again. However, when doing this, the window does go right up as it should but then a second later, even whilst holding the switch in position, it opens an inch of its own volition as though I’ve just opened…

Every once in a while when I use my left turn signal I get the fast blink like one of them is out. Sometimes it changes as the signal is flashing (goes from fast back to slow). This seems to only happen on hotter days (80F/26C or hotter) and has never happened with the right signal. I haven't been able to catch it in the act from outside the car, but a couple of times the steering angle seemed to affect it. This leads me to believe it's not an intermittent LED in the headlight/side marker/taillight, but something is up with the stalk and/or wiring inside the steering column. I removed the column lower shroud and inspected the wiring and don't see any chafing or dama…

Hello, After a little help. I have a 2014 Evora in Nightfall Blue C105. I am having some of the panels touched up before having new PPF fitted. But my local (trusted) paint supplier has no code for the Nightfall Blue. They are dealer for Lechler, they have been in touch with Lechler and the only thing they can offer is for us to send the fuel filler cap to Germany so they can create a match. I can just get some off the internet but has anyone got an online supplier they have used and could recommend ? Many thanks in advance.

Quick question for the Evora owners.. I was topping up the screen fluid, and put the access hatch back down but it doesn't seem to sit flush with the clam. I noticed it when sitting ^in the car, and it sits slightly higher than the clam?! Normal? Doesn't seem to go down any further

Following an earlier thread about mysterious phono connectors on my 2010 LE, I knew the day would come when I had the opportunity to take a good look at my non-functioning Sub (A familiar problem I know !). Most of the threads I've seen on this seem to end up with upgrading the whole system to get any decent sound, but my objective (as a non-audio buff) is to at least see if I (or anyone else seeing this thread) can get the maximum (such as it is) from my existing set-up. I've got 2010 LE Evora with tech pack and Alpine INE-W990BT. There is a Sub-Woofer behind the driver side rear panel and what I assume to be a sub-Woofer Amp next to it. I think I've trie…

My 2015 Evora has air conditioning failure. The system has gas, it was checked last week, so that is not the problem. The orange spanner lights up on the dash for 30 seconds on start-up, indicating an electrical fault, which I'd guess is the air-con. My local dealer was unable to do anything about it ( Lotus agent, but mine is the only Evora they've ever seen! ) . They have now told me to take the car to the main Lotus agent in Firenze, where I'm going tomorrow morning. Any Ideas what this could be? My thought is a fuse or a relay perhaps.

I am just about to apply new film to the headlights. Looking at removing the old film, has anyone tried using a heat gun to soften and peel the old film off? I can sand them down and polish before applying the new film but that seems a bit of a a faff.

Just for info: if you need to remove the AC compressor from an NA Evora, you need a 7PK-1988 (mm length) serpentine belt. Just removed mine for a rebuild/replacement and had a few hours trialling various lengths until finding this one fits perfectly now. Posting here to save trouble in future for others.

Tailgate struts 1 2
by DrRick- 38 replies

So, my late 2009 Evora is struggling to get its end up. And by that I mean the tailgate struts are struggling to hold up the tailgate when I open the back end to access the boot. I presume the seals inside have given up as there's no external leaking, just a lack of stiffness in holding up the body panel. i know from Deroure, the part number is C132B0058F, and that I need 2 and they start at £20 each. However, is there an alternative part that Lotus has just snaffled from a parts bin that is cheaper, or not? Also, has anyone else had this issue and had to swap them out?

by Hal- 11 replies

Good afternoon will someone kindly tell me where is exactly the horn relay in 2017 Evora please? I had to use my horn yesterday, snd it stuck ‘on’! Then after half a minute, it stopped but there is a lot of noise coming from the passenger (lhd..)foot well. And the horn is being activated in small stabs. itried pulling each visible relay, but could not stop the noise! I pulled fuse C1 and this stopped the noise, but I am worried that I cannot find the relay. thanks!

I am hoping to have mine delivered next week (hopefully on a day I can sneak it through the house when my wife is out). It seems a number have been ordered by TLF’ers so I thought it would be useful if any tips and tricks could be posted in one place.

Has anyone refreshed the upper mesh grills on a front clam of a Evora GT410 , mine had started to have there paint peel away a bit and the dealer I bought from touched them in with some paint which has now faded so looks bad. I know to remove these its clam off job which I have done on previous Evora but not so keen to do on this one (only 3 years old etc ) Anyone recommend a paint type colour code etc even if I touch in myself for now thanks all.

I do not know if it is the climate here or if the Evora battery is 'too enclosed', but the vent from my battery appears to condense and seep out under the battery tray and beginning to eat into the carpet. Not a problem really, a quick clean and fit a gel battery. Well, hunted everywhere, but cannot find a 70AH gel battery the same dimension as the lead acid one in Europe! Plenty of 56AH, but no 70AH (oh yes, plenty in the US..!) Does anyone in Europe have a gel battery fitted, and if so what make and where did you get it? Assuming I do not use the Alpine or parking lights without the engine running, can anyone say how a 56AH battery would fare? Is there an…

Hi all, Having to press the sport button every time really annoys me so I got thinking about how it might be automated. After a bit of rooting through the wiring diagrams I decided to have a go at building a simple timer to simulate the button press. Timing is important. I tried starting the car with the button pushed and it didn't engage sport. So, it needs to be off when the engine started, then on briefly, then off again. Pencil out I explored a few designs & options but settled on the 555 timer as I had some to hand and they are one of the few chips that can handle 15V. My circuit employs two 555s (you can get a dual 555 chip - the 556 - but I…

Are Evoras any better long term out doors than the Elise . Does the fibre glass react the same way ( ie osmosis etc. )as the Elise to open air cold, wet winters etc. Thanks

Following on from my thread asking if anyone knew of an Evora breaking for spares in the UK.... I thought I'd post my experience as I don't recall reading about anyone suffering a similar issue. So my Evora clearly wasn't impressed that I'd test-driven an Emira. Later on the same day I had my Emira test drive, I closed the (drivers) door as I exited the car and heard a weird crunch. I didn't immediately associate it with the frameless windows doing their sealing movement after you close the door. It made a noise again when I got back into the car and that's when I realised it was the window mechanism. I opened the window all the way down - no noise, all seemed good -…

Glass still drops and rises when opening closing door but that's it . Car still has a Lotus approved warranty so hopefully they can fix . But any ideas or experience of what could be the problem please?

I’m not a fan of the number plate mount that sticks out at the front of the car and have removed mine temporarily. Instead I am mounting the plate directly to the front grill, as low as I can get it so as not to compromise airflow. Does anyone know if airflow is likely to be materially affected by placement of the plate? I’d like to move it up a bit further eg, like some 410s ( see the red one below). I don’t expect I go fast enough to affect downforce, so guess this is primarily a question in relation to cooling.
