Hi, I’m at the stage of putting things back together….like the pop up headlamps! I have never seen these work before as the electrics were shot when I got the car…. So I’d appreciate your opinions….are these working properly? The arms seem to be parked in different positions between the two lights, and that’s why they seem to operate at different times when energised or turned off. Also I understand why they go down before popping up….but is that correct or do I need to adjust them? thanks 🙂 IMG_1904.mov

Out for a drive today and the driver's side headlamp starts going up and down continuously. The lights were off, think I had just indicated, maybe flashed when it started and it continued even after parking up with the engine turned off. Good job I have a battery isolator fitted. Restarting, sometimes it stopped for a while, then started happening again. Has part of the headlamp mechanism failed? TIA G

My fuel and temp guages move up and down in unison. I have just bought my 83 Excel in extremely tidy condition. I was told by previous owner that the fuel guage always reads low by quarter of the guage. The temp guage is always in the cold region, but occasionally they both rise and the temp reads around 90 degrees where it should run. This rise usually occures when on a long run. Is it coincidence that it happens together or is there a common link. Looking at the wiring diagram they are hooked in series ie one to the other. Is there a voltage stabiliser in the line somewhere

My 1974 Elite has the door cards with the mock wood strips near the top. Below that is a panel of corduroy which matches the seats. In cars with all-leather trim is the corduroy panel just plain leather? Does anyone have any photos? Could you get all-leather trim in the early cars? Just a bit of planning! Thanks Pete

Hello everybody, does anyone possibly have boot patterns, drawings or anything useful to reconstruct the boot carpeting or know of a supplier who can do so? I have got in touch with about 3 places that have interior patterns for the Elite, but they do not have the boot patterns. My car came without all but the battery cover, window brace and the side panels (albeit burnt to smithereens on one side).

I have been asked a few times over the past years for details of this particular conversion. Back then, my pictures were hosted on TinyPic and now long gone. But seeing as all my inlet valves are bent, I have had time lately to capture all the details of this conversion so its attached here for posterity. (This time I have a back up so if any one wants a copy via email, just send me your address and I will happily send on a copy) Hope it helps some one. Michael. Deep inside the o/s footwell is a recess in the side where the trim panel is, in this recess is the massive wirimg loom which has to be in a certain way to avoid pushing the trim panel on to the accelerator pedal .together with the loom is a set of white plastic pipes about 10mm thick which control the vacuum for the headlights these pipes are connected together with a T piece at the moment all these pipes are disconnected and it looks like pain in the a### job to get it all back together .Does anyone posess a wiring diagram for these pipes Thanking you in anticipation Roan

Hello, I have been in correspondence with the company that has the templates for the boot carpets. They have none in stock, but would require a minimum order of 5 sets to do a production run. The cost is an all inclusive £72 for a set . My car came without any of this so I am definitely interested. Are there another four takers out there? Brian

Anyone think these would be suitable for an Elite or Eclat ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184987203091?hash=item2b1218b613:g:7IgAAOSw8nVhJqhD&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA8CuP4nuFjA3Eet6kGD0MrsP4LGzjM9986gEGa8%2BNwwB7n4NmY4aN5q5GucFgmpeJE%2FWIyYoDHZYgopmT8fyUqtW%2F2fOeE5nK%2BB8DD45yl%2BVZmAPcnL4Ja1XhtK6MeMKvcUvh3gipx0RM9%2B0FMQezli%2BdtHQ4XEUhxVdYed1EHxxwKF2KqWIQUqlWlJSv4o%2BIECHPN8fTG57gpCbHR6v%2BNHuPot9FnzkBYgRC1v%2B7XnGeoElh1VYypEKeAsu76BgXCWPgECqVHx6u59jwE7FAuqLQHQ4OxHKIJRMpuf5dqsF5DipKhJuIez0i9FG%2FnIJGcw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABFBM2tbu0elg

Hello, my car is a 1976 Elite 504 (air con model) I'm sorting out some of the problems with the electrics and I'm a bit confused by the heater blower settings. There's a rotary knob with the usual 0, I, II, but instead of III the last option is "IID". I've got the workshop manual, there's an amendment which says some later cars had a revised control panel layout which has IID instead of III, IID is for dehumidify. But I don't understand how that works. At the moment, selecting option I runs the fans on slow fan speed, option 2 gives fast fan speed as expected but IID does nothing, I'm not sure if that's right or wrong. To confuse things even more, th…

Right next to the front interior light on the roof above the front seats is a tiny round light, what's this for? Mine is missing its front cover and had fallen back into the roof lining.

Right, there doesn't seem to be a really comprehensive report into this job on the net so i'll document it the best i can on here. Make no mistake this is a horrible job that fights with you from the start (may be easier on an Excel ?), i've been messing with cars for years but really tried my patience and half way through was left wishing that i hadn't bothered. Right, from the start the WHOLE DOOR needs to be stripped, no ways around this, and BOLTS WILL SNAP. The hinge pin goes through the door beam to form the hinge, EVERYTHING in the door is bolted to this beam, so the door catch, window frame and window regulator (electric window motor) needs to be unb…

Hi, I’m having fun finding lots of blown (or sometimes missing) bulbs in the centre console. So looking for replacements, ideally with a little more brightness - LED alternatives? Does anyone have a list of the bulbs used in the centre console. From what I can see: tiny bulb housed in the rear switch connector, capless type slightly bigger bulb used on the light switch (in a carrier that clips under the switch), capless type bigger bulb, bayonet type, that illuminates the heater controls single bulb that is powering the fibre optic lines, bayonet type thanks Terry
