I've owned my S2 type 54 since 1980, drove it a lot in the early years as it was my daily driver. In the late 80's it was getting very tired, so spent 2 years rebuilding it. At that time I replaced the original dampers with spax adjustables as even then the original Armstrong ones were no longer available. But I did keep the old dampers 'just in case'. The car after the rebuild, handled well, but never seemed quite as good as I remembered it, but I put that down to 2 years of not driving it and faulty memory. Since then, it's had GAZ adjustables and the last few years the Protec adjustable dampers from SJ with the matching springs. Over the years I think I've tr…

Working on a friends TC that had a dragging brake, we found the RR trailing shoe had debonded with about 0.141" of lining left. And on the LR, there is a crack at pretty much the same place on that shoe. It seems to be near the notch in the shoe, but I can't wrap my head around the shoe flexing there. Has anyone seen this before and does anyone have a guess what caused this?

Hello, can anyone tell me what the Lucas Part Number is for the front fender side/blinker lights, on a 1971 Lotus Europa S2. Or are they the same as another vehicle.

My Dad is considering selling his 1972 Lotus Europa and he’s not sure how to value it. A few details: 1972 Lotus Europa Twin cam 57000 miles from new, first owner from 1972 until 1976 and the second owner (my Dad) from 1976 to present. It has had a full restoration and the bodywork was done by Mick Miller who my Dad knew well. The car has been off the road for a few years so will need recommissioning. I’ve looked on EBay but prices vary a lot. Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you, Pete

Hi guys, I think the title tells what I come up with. Some years ago I drove with my son from Montreal to Ontario, north of Toronto. I planned to buy a Renault Europa. Once at the hotel, I called the seller who said : oh I'm sorry you're there, I don't sell my car anymore. I was disappointed but I did not yell anything I would be ashamed to tell now. The next day, the seller had probably slept on it and concluded he was a complete a..., called me back and explained he wanted to switch to a Twin Cam, which was the reason of selling his car, and he eventually changed his mind. He had already spotted a Twin Cam and said, since i won't buy this car any more, why w…

Greetings; I'm about to remove a, Renault engine from an S2. It seems a very simple task, unlike a modern machine, but I was wondering about the inner axle "taper roll pins". I understand there design and function - I am just wondering what would be a proper and available (drift) tool for the purpose of R+R ? Also, is there something that could inadvertently go wrong ? Thank you Clawed (MET)

digging in some old pictures I found one of how it all began.... (many moons ago LOL) Richard from Banks Europa Service advised me not to go faster than 50mph but found out 80mph was a nice speed. I traveled at night to avoid heavy traffic, channel tunnel was quiet 5 in the morning and I arived around sunrise in French. still remember that look in the eyes of a ferrari owner hitting full on the brakes just to have a look what that was on top of my little astra. best trip ever!

Hello, my name is Stefan. I'm an Industrial Engineer from Germany and newly registered to this forum. This is the first time that I signed up to a British based Lotus forum. Before that, I just visited a German based forum and a forum, which is hosted in th U.S. I didn't do it on purpose, but back in 2010, when I started my Lotus Europa racing project, these were the only forums that I found. I guess, it could be very helpful to be active in a British Lotus forum. As you know, there are lots of troubles, usually serious. Some of you may already have experienced similar things and solved them. So there should be a lot to learn for me here. In Winter 2010/2011 I s…

Hello Lotus enthusiast!! I am a member of the Wheeler Dealer production team which is back in the UK filming the latest series!! We are looking to film a meet up of specifically classic Lotus Europas on the 27th July in Worcestershire at the Shelsley Hill Climb. We are desperate to find as many Lotus Europas as possible to make this meet up epic. It is quite likely you would be interviewed by Mike and Elvis about your car as they usually love to go around talking to each owner. There may also be a cruise around with Mike and Elvis driving our very own Lotus Europa. This will all be filmed and put into the series that is to air later this year. If you a…

Hi Everyone, I've purchased a basket case that's been dry stored for the last 36 years, prior to that it has been repainted in red (worst respray I have ever seen) I attach a copy of the Typenschein which is the initial registration document when the car was imported into Vienna in 1973 (car is LHD), this includes a picture of the actual vehicle that was imported, this picture appears to show a JPS logo on the bonnet, however, the car was built in October 1972 and I have read that the JPS's were only built in 1973, is this true? The car was originally laid up because of a driveshaft problem and seems to have been forgotten about, I'm sure that there will be a lot mor…

Hi All, Some advice please, for me the Europa has always been one of my favourite Lotus's and I've been holding out for a JPS but at the Hethel 70th I saw the below which I loved and found out recently it is up for sale, basically a 5 year restoration, just wondering what peoples thoughts are? Obviously not original but I love what the guy has done, would you go for it, worth the money? it is almost a modern take on the Europa but the flip side you are buying a car that looks like a Europa but really isn't. I just don't want to buy something that is not really considered a Europa if that makes sense, the other option is something like this - https://www.uksports…
