I just found this early 2ZZ powered S3 Elise R for sale with a sports car dealer not far from me in the East Mildands. Not many of these around as the Certificate of Provenance for my early 2ZZ S3 Elise R says there were only 36 produced for the UK market including mine which is the only canyon red one. It seems to be a special edition of the Elise R to do with the Queen guitarist and has his signature on the side. Unfortunately the hardtop doesn't appear to be included. The car look very similar to the one pictured in the MY11 Elise sales booklet. That one was white with spider wheels, black interior, black diffuser and no aircon. I'm wondering if it's the same car…

I have replaced the Bosch k-jetronic in my 1988 turbo with a ME221 ECU. The car runs good but I have caused myself some grief with the alternator. In my haste to remove unused wiring to neaten up the install I have inadvertently removed the brown/yellow wire to the alternator. Now I can't seem to work out how it plugs back into the loom. The ignition light is off on the dash and the alternator is not charging the battery. According to the wiring diagram I would expect to see a brown/yellow wire from the loom coming into the engine bay via one of these plugs. However, I do not see such a wire, I do have the wire from the alternator to what I believe went into the roun…

Hi All, I know there are other topics covering the development of various intercooling solutions for the V8 Esprit, however I think this new development needs a thread of it's own. There has been some significant progress mainly thanks to @nick_wannop for his help and extreme generosity. A few years ago Nick commissioned a one off intercooler solution for his V8 Esprit that doesn't intrude into the boot space and he has very kindly agreed to offer up his kit back to Pro Alloy to use as a template for more kits of the same to help the Lotus community. That's quite an upheaval and this opportunity couldn't progress without his help since Pro Alloy did retai…

Dry Sump Register 1 2 3 4 39

Hey Guys I want to get a Dry Sump register started with Dan and don't want it to be a hidden database but understand some details like full chassis numbers may be a little sensitive so happy to give anyone who contributes full access if they provide email addresses and keep a more visible one public if that suits best? What do you think? It is only ever going to be as good as the information built through fellow members and lots of research. Andy Graham will help usually like he did with the early M100 one once we have most of it together to fill the gaps. I have quite a lot of cars details already so won't take long to get something together. Dave

In the spirit of the Happy and the Unhappy threads, comes this one. I'll go first. Watching a car on the way home doing the ol' 'duck 'n weave' to get further along in the traffic. I just kept tootling along in the left hand lane and about three sets of traffic lights later, I came to a stop no less than four cars in front of him. Traffic lights. The great rush hour equaliser.

Hi All I've been losing coolant for the past few drives and I think it's vanishing somewhere round the front of the car - there's a faint smell of coolant from the front rad vents, and one or two drips on the undertray that taste a bit coolant-ey... I've got a couple of questions before I investigate any further... 1 - can you get the the bottom of the rad by removing the undertray, or is there more ducting etc in the way? I was hoping that you could get access to enough to figure if it's the rad itself, leaky hose etc. I know to replace the rad you need to take the clam off... 2 - Is the 400 rad bespoke to Lotus, or did they re-use something from ano…

Good evening I know little or nothing about 'modern' Lotus - those cars with electronics and fuel injection etc On Friday my 95 S4 stopped in traffic and wouldn't restart enough to move the car to safety. It fired, caught, then fluffed under load and wouldn't pull away. Previously it had and has performed faultlessly. It felt like it had run out of fuel yet I had at least half a tank following my recent return from Croft racing circuit. I pushed the car off the main road and tried in vain to start it and eventually, after a long 17 hour wait for the RAC, I got the car home. The starter turns the engine perfectly and everything seems normal although …

My next door neighbour is super green and has a Tesla, Solar panels linked to her car charger and loads of other stuff however, one thing she has looked into that definately didn't work for her was a Heat Pump. "Total Con" was her words. I watched this recently as I am a dunce with all technology except cars and then not brilliant, but this guy not only nails it but says it in laymans terms. Really worth a watch!

Hi all, I`m after a set of rear brake hoses with the a banjo fitting at one end (for an m12 banjo bolt) and the standard fitting at the other. I`ve seen some kicking around ebay and such, but I don`t know the specs (length, thread at the non caliper end) of the originals to make sure they are the right thing. I found this page, but I`m not sure what to put in the options boxes - https://furoreproducts.co.uk/custom-brake-hose many thanks! Mark

Is it wise to put all "our" faith in electric only cars which will require probably 25 million charging stations minimum from 11 thousand today. Shouldn't we also be looking at other alternatives hydrogen maybe or even liquid nitrogen :- https://dearman.co.uk/dearman-technologies/dearman-engine/

I'm actually pretty far into this project already, I wouldn't say near the end because there never really is an end with project cars 😂 I wanted to share the build from the start on the forums though as it seems so much of this stuff just gets lost on social media. I want to ensure that whoever ends up with this car next has something to refence and maybe have an opportunity to answer those "WTF was he thinking when he did this?" questions. So I'll start from the begging and update this often. I haven't actually cranked the engine over at this point build but hopefully will be doing that mid Oct. This rebuild isn't for the purists and I assure you things might get weird b…

Thought I'd start this early as @Kimbers always asks for suggestions, ignores them all, and ends up going to Cyprus Where are people thinking about going in 2023? For us, we had an epic Mexico road-trip (Acapulco to Cancun) in 2022 - highly recommended if anyone is looking for something out of the ordinary, and easily doable with booking.com and Hertz (or similar). My 60th is in 2023 so I want to do something a bit different in Africa. We went for a one week break over Christmas 2019 to Uganda to see if the kids liked it (they can have Ugandan passports if they want). They really enjoyed it (phew), especially the 2 nights we spent in the National Parks (ye…

Greetings fellow TLF members, Since 2018 when I first purchased my second Lotus (the first one was an Elise first intro to TLF), it has been pure joy and pride taking her to the tracks and winding roads. Sadly, two years ago she had a "fender bender" accident, which she had been sitting in the garage. Until now this "recreation project" is finally started, hopefully to bringing her back to a new life, and some. To begin The Exige starts off is a Roadster S, which she had a very very soft stock Bilstein suspension. On tracks, every brake, it was a pretty bad nose dive, and the front couldn't hold any grip, which always ended up very b…

I’m looking at getting some copies of the original badges fitted on the centre console just below the clock for the Eclat 2.2 and Elite 2.2. These would be in the original overlapping Lotus outline typeface. I think the cost should be in the region of £15 each. Please let me know if interested
