S4/S4s VSS connector Note that the V8 doesn't have this, it taps off of one of the ABS wheel speed sensors.

Pre-95 (early) S4 cars had mechanical speedos. The late S4, Sport 300 and the S4s have electronic. The vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is mounted in the rear RHS hub and is the same as the crank sensor used in the V8 (Lotus part number: A910E6939F obsolete, replaced with A918E6080F - V8 crank sensor part number). Info and cross references here: Note that the V8 doesn't use this arrangement but taps off the rear RHS ABS sensor as an input to the ECM to drive the speedo (amongst other functionality):

I had a conversation with Bibs and the subject of Esprit wheels came up, particularly alloys. It looks as though this is getting somewhat critical too, as the manufacturers (e.g OZ Racing) have disposed of the tooling to make spares. Apart from getting on the alternatives track - we want to try and keep our cars original, yes? - can I suggest that forum Esprit owners keep their eyes peeled on eBay, Gumtree etc. and if they have some spare cash buy up any that they see - within reason of course? I'm happy to invest in a few wheels for the greater good. If we can have a pool of spares for anyone unfortunate to crack or bugger one then at least we can keep the cars…

From a conversation between Ian and myself. -------------------------------------------------------------- ian29gte Started conversation: yesterday at 10:11 · While I've got the front suspension in bits, I've been doing a bit of digging about track rod ends.
