Thought this might interest some. I lived near this pub and remember seeing the tv report on it's opening night. A F1 car was parked outside. What isn't mentioned is that the beertaps were in the style of a gearstick .. you selected your brew as if you were changing gear. Great fun pub while it lasted.

I understand only one car was built (circa 2006) with 4WD and a V6 engine, does anyone have any information on the whereabouts/history or do Lotus still have the car?

Hi folks Following on from the thread about the Lotus open day (1977?), I came across these photos I took at the 1984 Motor show in Birmingham which some of you may be interested in. Sorry the quality is not great but it gives you an idea of what the Lotus stand was like and of course the Etna

Hello, On the verge of purchasing 2 fairly pricey components from QED, thought it prudent to survey whether anyone has done business with the QED chaps recently? Cheers

I am rebuilding a Lotus 18 - one of 6 that were exported to the US then Mexico in 1960. I believe that these 6 has a BLACK chassis, not the usual battleship grey. Can anyone confirm this (black chassis) as I an getting ready to paint soon. Any advice would be appreciated. Graham.

(hoping not true)..... im 6ft slim build... does anyone on here own one in a reasonable distance of colchester i could come have a sit, and be educated on? or even have any knowledge they would care to share to stop me form outing the elise or evora for one? i think it would look bloody good in the garage, and it would suit my need better.. ive priced up to build my own and i reckon on 18=20k and whilst tempting not sure i have the time commitment right now.. anyone? andy

The nuts on the door hinge are inevitably rusted together. It can take months of penetrating fluid to get them off. I'm impatient. After 2 days of f**ting about I centre popped the locknuts in the direction of undo and pulled out my pneumatic hammer gun. 2 seconds later the locknut was undone, all of the others followed in a similar fashion and speed. Job done except it took me a day to adjust them............ Richard in sunny Spain - call me if you need help............

The other day when I came across a recent copy of Autocar, the same shop had the new Octane magazine. Naturally drawn to it by the cover story on the Countach, I noticed the Lotus Etna concept car also sharing the front cover. Inside there is a 5-page article (including a 1-page photograph) on the history and subsequent "restoration" of the car by Olav Glasius. I put restoration in quotes because the car is now more complete than it has ever been. In typical Lotus form, they had forgotten the car had got the V8 engine in it and it got covered over. This discovery by the restorer, Neil Myers, led to Olav changing the direction of the restoration from making it a sta…
