If you look at the non V8 Esprit, you will see that a diagonal frame pipe has only been welded in on the right front side of the frame cage. Anyone know if Lotus added a pipe an additional diagonal frame pipe to the left side when they did the V8 frame. Has anyone added the pipe after the fact? Am I safe in assuming the frame is Galvanized Chromoly?

Hello Asking for a friend who has seen two of these rare cars for sale in the U.K. recently. Its not a technical question which is why I’ve posted here but does anyone know how many Sport 350’s were actually produced? Figures seem to vary with he might of Wikipedia reckoning on 42 cars in total and I thought there were 50. It seems hard to believe that with such a rarity, two could be on sale just now of all times. Thanks in advance of any knowledgable replies Simon

HI, does anyone knows what is the colour code for the Sport 350 silver? There are a few silver for the Esprit in LEW, and I am not sure which is the correct silver. Appreciate if someone can let me know... I don't have a 350, but I like the silver and would like to paint my X180 to the same silver colour. These silver colour codes are listed in LEW A03 Silver Diamond P4229167 A075B6249F A076B6067 A35 Silver P4217379 A076B6162F B076B6067V A40 Silver P032-918 A41 Silver A45 Silver Frost P4217805 C082B6091J A082B6087V B09 Silver Frost AB L9056 D082B6091F B15 Pearl Silver A082B6315F B38 Quicksilver H9594 B92 Silver Metallic P1384 L36 Silver …

Just for interest factor - I received my cert. of provenance from Andy Graham today. My #002 was purchased new by me back in early June 1999. The data from Andy confirms what I was told at the time. 1 prototype car produced #002 was the first European S350 to be finished, so first of 42 for Europe and the only S350 registered without A/C. If you don't have a cert. I would recommend contacting Andy Graham, as it's nice to have some additional detail on our cars. Mike S

Well guys old and new, I ran the ownership registry with the factory for many years, owned my car since 2001 and I still have no 26 in Monaco car. 6 speed 500bhp (I built the car like it is now) Ok why now, well why not, getting our limited edition cars together has to be a good idea, or at least you the owners can meet greet and maybe get a good reason why or how to get your cars made legal once again with help via the registry and each other I think a very good idea back. Fact at this time there is 8 cars legal on the road of a total of 15 left in the UK. I will be at Castle Combe for club lotus day on Saturday may 25th You can contact me via thi…

Hi folks, I know the wing thing has been done to death but I'm going to fit a slightly larger carbon wing and want the uprights to look like S350 ones. Is there a diagram or technical drawing about or will I have to just go off pictures on the internet? They will be in 6082T6 ally and will be machined so no Stevie Wonder style drilling or filing. I intend to attach it without any spreader feet on the topside but reinforce it from underneath so it is super sturdy. (It will have to be!) Here's the wing, http://elitecarbonfibre.co.uk/motorsport.php it's attachment stubs on the underside are the exact dimensions for the rear hatch (rather convenient) and the en…

Hi Guys, I have just recieved my sport 350 (number 14) from the UK which i bought off Mike Williams. Very excitied ! The car has 17000 miles and is in great condition with the 2002 rear light upgrade. I have had the engineer out today and i am seeing the registration shop tomorrow which will supply me with the documnts to get it registered which i am told will take about 2 weeks to recieve my Australian compliance plates. The guy who will inspect the car has asked me to identify the engine and VIN numbers that are stamped or on a plate (not the stickers) I had a look and couldn't easily locate these. Can anyone tell me where to look for both of these. He will h…

hey guys can anyone provide detailed tech info on what lotus changed about the gearbox to allow for the increase availability of torque in the lower gears? I understand also that after it was implemented in the 350 sport, every v8 produced afterwards has the same strengthened gearbox? Does that mean theoretically (ignoring the weight difference) that a v8 made post 350 sport era with the added 350 sport ECU would be nearly as fast?

where are the weight saving differences between the v8 and sport 350. apart from lobing out the spare wheel, taking out the fast food waist and getting on the treadmill i cannot see were the savings are made.

While I'm changing discs & tyres, I decided to have the wheels repainted.... I spoke to lots of different alloy wheel painting/refirbishment companies and found that most wouldn't work on magnesium wheels. I found one that would (about 1hr away) and they sounded ok and confident in the work. So, I went to collect them today. And instead of spray painting them in a (closely matched) grey with a matt finish. They decided to (powder coat) paint them with a metalic gloss finish..... (the closest powder coating they had!) They didn't look bad at all BUT I feel that I want to keep my car standard 'looking' (a sport 350) So now we have a problem, they are going …

I believe the new owner is called Andy, My friend Chris had a message saying you had bought his car. The telephone number given does not work.! I ran the sport 350 register for about 8 years, but the UK numbers are so low now, no one seems very interested any more. Any way I have No 26 in white and it's Bonkers Wild. . If you Andy or any other V8 owner is seeking advice or data/dna ref the Esprit V8/ Sport 350 then please mail me at [email protected] Having owned V8 Esprit's for some 15 years now and working on just about every part, uprating modifying etc .... my back ground is ex RAF (Autospark) . I would like to point out there was 5…

Found a bit of trivia the other day about the S350 chassis that may be of interest, Lotus used a thicker gauge for the engine bay chassis tubes to stiffen the chassis up a bit

The 350 needs new rear pads, currently has some unknown cheap things in, front are fitted with green stuff and have plenty of life left but I cant say I am a lover of green stuff having ran it in other cars, bearing in mind it is only for road use (might get 1 or 2 light track days........I hope !) whats the latest thinking and what are you using as I may as well fit new all round to match.

As a recent new owner to a sport 350 (no.16) I thought i had done enough reasearch to answer most questions but was stumped last night by a fellow Esprit enthusiast who asked how many 350s are left in this country (GB) I know a few have recently broken for spares, some exported etc, sorry if this is already covered in another thread but could not find the answer tonight. Accurate nos. or a near guess ???
