Mine currently coat the wheels in black soot like brake dust after 30 miles of driving. They were bought from PNM with new discs a few years ago and although hardly worn drive me insane, Can anyone recommend an aftermarket pad that isnt track biased and has low dust qualities?? Shaun.

Since I bought my GT3 I've always thought it had a slight lean to the rear but I wasn't sure if this was because the back was too low or the front was too high. Curiosity got the better of me today and after consulting the workshop manuaI I measured the ride height. ( as an aside I was surprised to see that the GT3 is set up with a slightly higher ride height than the s4, anyone know why? Is it just a result of reduced weight? ). Anyway it turns out mine is riding about 15mm too low at the back. I then went to measure the front but how on earth do you measure the distance from the front cross member to the floor? Obviously you can't crawl under the front like you can the…

Has anyone experience of Esprit X180 N/A fitted with electric powered PAS? I understand "Lotusbits" can convert. Any other Company that can convert? Apparently its not possible to fit the "Excel" version of the hydraulic PAS.

Hi everyone, I own a 1989 Esprit turbo and am contemplating with the idea of electric power steering conversion. Tired of the heavy steering. I heard Hilly had some pictures posted could you please point me to the right direction? By the way I leave in Los Angeles. Thanks Roger

Could you tell me what is the x-ref PN for the Esprit power steering rack? Introduced in 93MY, (see section HD). For sure, it is a GM Saginaw power rack and pinion. Pump is a GM Saginaw (P320) unit. I suspect the rack to be off some GM car, or Saab. Which one? Do you know? I'd like to retrofit my car with it.

I have got my new ABS Switch from B & B Sportwagen ( Mr Ralf Burk) in Germany. The Switch (180,- Euro) is a plug and play solution from Bosch (three times the lifecycle of the original Switch), fitted the Switch, plug in the original connector and my pump is running correctly. Cheers Andre

Need some help here. Following pot-hole damage I am trying to replace a bent rear rim. Tried all the usual suspects (7 at last count) plus a few breakers but no luck so far. The experts assure me that my rim can be repaired and even welded if it cracks but I would prefer to replace it if possible. If anyone out there has one (or even a pair) they are willing to sell perhaps you could let me know. Thanks Roy

Probably not the right time to post this but a while back @ian29gte asked me to have a look for a non-ABS replacement master cylinder and servo for Delco equipped Stevens Esprits. I didn't pursue it too far but I think it is a possibility. Looking at the service manual that system looks like a right fookin' complex nightmare and has to be worth ditching?

Has anyone that has changed steering wheels got an original boss for the standard 3 spoke steering wheel (88-92) going spare? Happy to pay any reasonable price. It seems they are NLA unless someone out there knows any different. Or is it possible to adapt the 2 spoke boss for a 3 spoke. Steve at SJ says not but perhaps someone has done it. Or any other bright ideas? I know I can always fit a momo boss and go that route, but I want to keep to the Nardi.

My 1989 Esprit turbo has factory 15 x 7 front rims and 15 x 8 rear rims with Falken Ziex ZE912 195/60-15 and 225/60-15. The tires are very old and need replacement. It is very challenging to source 15" performance tires these days. I found Falken Azenis RT660 205/50-15 and Falken Azenis RT660 225/45-15 but I am concerned the Azenis have a diameter of 23 inches compared to the 24 and 25 inch diameter current tires. The car will sit 1 inch lower in the rear and 1/2 inch lower in the front. I know the spedo/odom will need to be calibrated somehow. These performance tires look awesome but my diameter concern is holding me back. Any advice and recommendations would …

Two fasteners and plate fell off of the drivers side rear wheel opening on my 1989 Esprit Turbo non-SE. The passenger side fasteners are still in place. What do these two bolts secure? The gas tank? Thank you in advance for any insights. Jkorvette

Hi folks! I need your help again. I am done with the work on the suspension of my 92 SE HighWing, but the car is now 2,5 cm higher on the right side than on the left (measured at the top of the wheel arch). I did new springs, new dampers, new rubber seats, replaced all bushes on the suspension (Poly-bushes). I see no way to adjust the height of each side?! Can anybody help? What went wrong? Thanks, Patrick PS: the top of the springs have the same distance to the ground on each side….

I am thinking of having a friends S300 engine brace and mount bungs copied at a fabrication shop near his house in Minnesota USA. They have to build a jig so there are some up front costs. We will not know exactly what they look like until they are done so there would be a non-refundable deposit. There is substantial effort required to install the mount bungs on the chassis so keep that in mind. If anybody is interested in the $1K US range please reach out. Shipping over the pond would be terrible I am sure. If anybody knows of a place that can knock out an engine bay brace please let me know before I order. Cheers!

Hi all, Been debated numerous times, but after reading all of it, more or less, I still haven't come to a solution on what to chose. What I can say is this: - I like the standard suspension for it's roadholding, in keeping the Wheels on the road. - I don't like the soft springing, and the roll, which to me at least resembles an old woman's Rolls. - I think the rideheight is a bit too high right now, after fitting V8 Wheels, and will be still, when putting Futura's on later. - I am not inpressed (or let's say convinced) so far, with the various alternatives from non-Lotus brands. Some people say the are too soft, some say too low, some say swap the spring…

Hi all, I am trying to diagnose an issue with the Delco Powermaster III ABS system on my 94 S4 Esprit. I already have a pressure gauge installed, but I still fitted the special GM gauge TOOOT1112 in-line with the accumulator for comparison. I have the Australian Lotus Marques dual switch conversion too which was fitted a good few years ago. The pressures are correct I've set lower pressures to match the updated grey switch pressures (1900 pump on & 2300 pump off) but I have the same issue with the old pressures of 2200 pump on & 2700 pump off, so it isn't that. My issue is the pump runs every pedal press which I'm sure most will agree, points to the accumulat…

I'm mid-job on @shaunw's lovely GT3, and encountered a very nasty anomaly today. On every Esprit I've ever seen, the pedal pivot shaft is secured with a split pin at its outboard end; this is accessible through the fuse box aperture. I encountered no pin in this position yesterday, so investigated the other, inboard, end of the shaft. Impossible to see, but I could just get a fingertip on what felt like the top of a pin. Retired indoors at this point, thoroughly depressed as I though i might have to remove the pedal box (aaaaagh). Alcohol helped. Refreshed, I attacked it repeatedly today with a pick, completely blind, until it felt like the pick had engaged with…

Hi folks! Can anyone descibe the difference between the SE rear hubs and the V8 hubs? If I got it right, documentation wise the V8-ones are replace parts for the earlier SE ones, but.... Someone said, they have a different handbrake mechanism. Since my rear left one has a hairline crack, where radius arm is connected to, I am hoping it can be welded but I am looking for options. First option is a set of remanufactured hubs (V8) from JAE starting at 3500$ plus shipping and tax/customs 😮 Secend option is a set of used V8 hubs, not knowing what real condition they are in. Can anyobne help me out with a reliable statement to interchangeabili…

Hello all, I want to preface this by saying that 1) I am looking for all of the Delco ABS threads in the forum I can find and am reading them, and 2) I am in the process of acquiring a Tech 1, the related cartridges, cable, etc., and have the manuals from both Lotus and Tech 1. So lots of reading ahead for me. With that said, I would appreciate any advice from others' experiences on where to look first as I try to resolve my growing brake system issues. The car is a 1991 SE with the lovely Delco ABS system. About two and a half years ago, the right rear brake caliper was beginning to drag, getting hot while driving. No iss…

Does anybody know the paint code (color) for the OZ rims used on a 1990 SE? Searching on the forum revealed that the question has been asked before but I could not find an answer. I hope that somebody knows the answer.

Hi everyone, I have an nteresting problem. I have finally worked out that I get an ABS light whenever I turn on the interior fan. I also get no fan by the way. When I turn the fan to the off position, that ABS light goes out. There have been times that I have taken the car for a drive and fan is in the on position. No ABS light. Hit a bump possibly and I get fan working and no ABS light. Another bump and you guessed it. Gone. So out with the trusty manual and on Sheet 2A, there is a -ve post shown on the drawing, but I am wondering if anyone knows where it is situated? The earths are the first thing that I want to check as everyone knows, a dodgy earth can throw…
