I bought the membership upgrade because it included access to parts/service manuals. I’m having trouble navigating the website. If someone could point in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated.

I am hosting a parts cross-reference file which is available from here. The list is in MS Excel format and is primarily for Stevens and S4 cars. Please let me know if you have any additions or corrections. More information is being added and the list is being refined and updated regularly - the intention is to make this the definitive Esprit parts x-reference resource on the web. Please PM or mail me if you have any comments or suggestions. Ian >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I have made a spreadsheet available on my website which has s…

Hi there, I'm new to this forum and now a proud owner of what I am finding out to be a rare Esprit S Turbo and wondered if there is any other owners out there that could share some information about the car.

Hi All, I bought my first Lotus end of last year. It is 1989 US spec Esprit turbo non-SE. It didn't come with any handbooks or other helpful documents. Now I'm looking after required documents. Which are the correct documents I need? According to VIN, car is MPFI (VIN ends 25XX). After some research are these the correct essentials: - Parts manual (downloadable here after I upgrade my membership) - Lotus Esprit Turbo service notes 1988-1992 MY (Is Service Notes same as Workshop Manual?) - Service Notes Electronic Multi Fuel Point Injection - Owners Handbook (Part number for 1989 US MPFI? or will any X180 Turbo Handbook do the job?) Anything e…

I have had a bit of a look on the internet and through here, but can't seem to find any information on where I could get replacement rubber switch boots for both switches on my S4 that are for the courtesy lights on both the rear hatch and the bonnet. Anyone have any clues as to where I could pick some of these up? All I can get from the switch is that it is GM< and it also has TRW M molded into it. Also PA and the digits 39 & 95. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi. Does anyone know how high I would have to lift the bodyshell up to roll out the chassis on my Esprit please? The reason is I have limited headroom in my garage. Thank you in advance.

I need a new battery for the S4s. I see no real benefit in anything exotic so - does anyone have any recommendations? Cheers 'all

For those, like me, who aren't fortunate enough to have a ramp or any other method of lifting her up sufficiently to work under her, short of jacks and axel stands, I've been thinking about a simple low cost approach. For an S4 (maybe S4s and GT3?) the angle between the bottom of the front wheel and the foremost front side of the plastic lower bumper trim is 7.5 degrees: I'm thinking a solid wood ramp made to this angle could be secured to a garage floor and the car driven up this ramp. A stopper of some sort at the front edge of the ramp put in to ensure it doesn't go too far. Once driven up there, the rear could be jacked up and static wooden stands plac…

I am a new member and I have just purchased an 88 Esprit Turbo. Te Lous has been sitting for 24 years. Is there an equivalent battery for the Tungstone type 088 that is specified? Thanks! Mark

Hi FFM, I'm hoping that someone can use some of the parts I'm clearing away now that my 1988 Esprit has gone. I've put the details of the parts for sale link shown: https://www.lotusforsale.com/ads/stevens-esprit-x180-garage-clearance/ If any existing members in Essex or near enough to make the trip to my home CM13 2SF are interested please send a message and we can agree on a good deal for you. Sorry moderator if I should have posted this elsewhere!

I would like two know if these two different Lotus V8 part numbers are actually the same item. A082P4461F (diagram 18.05-06) and A082L6210F (diagram 44.05-22)? ACDelco 214-1091 and GM 15759044 are crosse reference part numbers for the A082P4461F. Is A082L6210F the same part? They look very similar.

The slave clutch cylinder is badly corroded and has seized up on my S4s. Is there another cylinder made of alloy I can replace it with , like the ones on the land rover? If so, does any body have a Xreference part number. cheers Dave

I have seen a few threads about brake problems so I thought I'd provide a detailed explanation of the symptoms the car exhibited and the fix as I imagine others might have the same issue in the future. Before I bought the car I noticed that it had a flashing ABS light, the brake pedal pushed back against my foot and sort of modulated in and out in a 2 second period, and there was about a one second delay between when I pushed the pedal and when the car actually began to stop (something quite terrifying at times). I had the PO replace the ABS accumulator and that cured the ABS light. Others on this board said the "push back" feeling was normal, so I bought the car a…

My aerial is missing, I didn't notice when I bought the car as the top fitting by the driver's mirror had a bit of black filler hiding the problem. I've removed the filler and it looks like the aerial has broken off at some point and I can see the stud of a cable looking into the small hole. I may be able to pull the cable out a bit with nose pliers? I want to replace it, but it looks to me like a pain to access? Does the driver's door need to be removed to gain access, just the inner panels or worse? Would it have been an electric operated aerial or manual pull out? Thxs Stevens S3 1988 N/A

Do the workshop manuals give a better write up/indication of how the car was built in relation to the pictures in the parts manual? I’m trying to work out the correct orientation of the nuts bolts and washers that go to make up the headlamp inner and outer pivots, and the part catalog is a bit misleading. for instance:- does the inner headlamp pivot also double up as the bonnet hinge? any help, greatly appreciated.

Info gratefully received from @Chillidoggy: In my deliberations with my driver's door mirror, I found some info which may be of use. I found the twin motor assembly inside is used by a number of cars, GM, BMW Saab, Ford etc. I think this is because it is a patented design by IKJ, but probably now out of patent. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SAAB-9-3-93-9-5-95-900-Etc-Electric-Adjustable-Door-Mirror-Motor-AActuato-M4-/282755313867 The other thing I found was the control switch has a specific connector plug and comes not from a Vectra, but instead a Calibra from 1988 - 1997. The version fitted to the Esprit has a little yellow lamp incorporated, all the others I foun…

First I must apologize for the delay, life and health sometimes get in the way. Can’t post pictures but this is really pretty simple. Bosch number is 0 390 241 132. Fits 98-99 VW Passat and 96-01 Audi A4. You may be asked if the car has a blue or green dash, color doesn’t matter. The motor is the same, only the controls are different. Rearrange the wires in the ORIGINAL plug as follows. Hold the plug with the lock tab facing you, wires pointing away from you. Left to right, green, blue/light green, black, red/light green, blue/light green. When you fit the plug to the motor, green should be farthest from the moter, blue/green closest. Remove arm from Bosch motor and fit …
