I have managed to get a hold of two Panasonic cockpit roof stereos. Unfortunately I don´t have the amplifier for neither. The previous owner managed to get by with no external amplifier with the RM-310, and I have a pretty good clue about its connector wiring (only seven wires, of which four are for speakers). Does anyone have info on the connector wire colors for these?

After finishing my mass sacrifice of fuses, I am faced with another problem. The the pop up headlights work logically from the light switch and the flash function works too. Except that the drivers side (LHD formerly RHD) will not come down, either by the light switch or the flash function. It would seem to hint at the direction of the headlight motor itself. When driving the pod down manually, there does not seem to be any unusual resistance. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Why is it that by this point in time there exist no suitable replacement mirrors for the Esprit? It's not like the form is so terribly unique as to make this an impractical project.

Following a social media post about the noisy bulkhead bolts in my 1987 Esprit S3, I received some useful advice as it appears in the following link: http://www.lotusespritworld.com/EGuides/EModifications/BulkheadPlate.html?fbclid=IwAR1ESZK9jax3r9OR1pLoeLTzTLhkuss_tnbGpTOcy4Tg8BASwRKa1LPofTA I'm confused since the bolt plate mentioned in the above article seems to be in the engine bay side of the bulkhead and it's not accessible. Any tips please on how to tighten the slack bolts and stop the creaking bulkhead?

Staring to run out of ideas. The number one fuse in S2 burns up immediately when connecting battery power. The glow is quite pretty, if one is fast enough to catch it... So, the pop up headlights wont pop up. The lights themselves work fine. Motors aren´t the problem (tried with them disconnected). Just before I gave up for the day, I noticed a visp of smoke from the exposed turn signal assembly, while trying to flash the lights. I tried again with the stalk removed, but fuse burned immediately. I have truoble shooted the light and hazard swites. All the relays that I ca think of. Do the esteemed forum gurus have any ideas?

I fitted one of those 'Hawk' central locking kits into my wife's Micra a couple of years ago and its been 100% reliable - Took me 1/2 day to fit, so I thought I'd put one in the Esprit - As you may expect it took me 10 times longer and several failed attempts and headscratching.... However its now all in with rifle bolt action and I'm pleased! The first mounting of the door actuators was fitted using the flimsy universal brackets provided - Coupled with a flexible fibreglass door shell, they were just too flimsy and distorted in use. Back to the drawing board. Version 2 below was fantastic - except that it fouled the doorcards! (measure twice cut once) …

Would anyone know if the correct colour of the window frames is gloss black or satin black?

My inside door panels are 39.5cm high. Is this standard? They have a gap at the top that leaves the outside weather seal visible when the window is down (a black band on the window pane hides it when window fully closed) I see other S1s have the panel flush with outside skin

There's an odd bit which seems to have been fitted to my early S2 with RTV sealant and matte balck paint evident on its grey plastic, possibly for weather protection of cable or wire entry point on the body. Anybody recognize this?

I was driving my 85 S3 turbo on Friday night for the first time in the dark for a while. I turned on the lights and went to put them on the main beam and all the lights went off!! a little disconcerting!! I turned them off and on again at the main switch and they came back on and worked fine all the way home. However when I got home the red warning lights in the doors that come on when you open the door stayed on on the driver's side and came on and went off on the passenger side but stayed very dim irrespective of whether they were close of open. I disconnected the battery and locked it up. Looking again in the morning I found the same problem. I hadn't changed the…

Does anybody happen to have the dimensions (W x H x D) of the standard lotus condensing radiator C082P4160F for an 83 Turbo esprit? Mine has a slow leak and I’d like to replace it. SJ has a reproduction available, but it’s about 3x the cost of a modern, aftermarket unit. So I wonder if there’s a fitting alternative out there.

I'm pulling the interior out of a late S3 with the Lotus Gold half leather trim as it needs a retrim. All the leather has shrunk and much of it has split too. I was hoping to salvage the fabric used on the seat panels, tunnel sides, bulkhead panel and so on, but as I've removed it, it looks like even if I can get it clean, it will be horribly faded. I'd prefer to keep done the original rather than go all leather. Has anyone found a source for a good match for the fabric? It is sort of halfway between a coarse velvet and a carpet.

Presently in the process of checking electrical function of my wiring creation up front of the S2 I discovered something odd on one of my lift motors. The first unit fitted for testing is fitted with the expected regulator screw/nut whereas the 2nd I just gatherd up for comparison turns out not to have that kit. Instead one finds a plain capscrew, leaving me to suspect it has been changed out over time by the PO and wondering how this 2nd motor might be regulated. Insights?

Does anybody have a picture of what the mirror switch looks like when fitted to the door card. I am trying to determine what the fittings are that hold it to the door card. Thanks, Paul.

I am now reassembling my 1979/80 S2 2.0 Esprit 837G after an extensive 'nut and bolt' rebuild from the chassis up and getting to the fiddly bits under the dash . Can anyone help with / do you have a clear schematic of how the Heater /Aircon control cables fit from the levers in the binnacle to the heater matrix and also the correct routing and connection of all the vacuum pipes ? Mine is a factory fit Aircon Car if that makes a difference to the configuration. I have looked in my workshop manual, but to be honest the image is very sketchy and also does not include for the controls. Looking at the heater/evaporator under the dash I can see where …

I've just got my US spec '84 Turbo running after a 5 year 'slumber' in my garage. It was an engine out major service, new fuel, coolant hoses etc, clutch, belt. I've started it and its running so I checked all the electrics. The following are working: Sidelights, horn, instrument lights, wiper, clock, mainbeam flash (no pop up though), heated rear window, door windows, blower motor, brake lights, number plate lights The following are NOT working: Headlights, indicators, hazards, door lights (red in the door), interior light when the door opens, headlight flash pop up function. I only removed and replaced the ground/earth cable from the engine to the chass…

Hi all, I need to get my S1 MOT'd and it has failed on a rear light fault. The bulb holders in the unit are corroded and one has been melted slightly. All lamp holders in the unit look to be the same. They are marked 98.0002.775. any ideas where I could get them or has anyone fitted an alternative? The complete lighting cluster ... (which is ok although the silver paint is a bit worn) is Fiat X1/9 and has the part number Carello 12.217.748 (Made in Italy) Thanks Gordon

So never had the air con re gased since it run out years ago, it then used the old, now illegal, gas. Can the new version gas be put in without changing any valves/joints/seals?

Hello, I am attaching a few pictures with a number of wires around the engine (1987 Esprit S3 HC). Could anyone suggest how to connect them or what's the use of them? 1. Two wires pictured in RED CIRCLES in my attachment are under the water tank. 2. One orange wire with a plug at the end is near the dipstick (pictured in a GREEN CIRCLE). 3. One cable goes to the A/C pump and a grey cable with a plug at the end looks alone... (pictured in a YELLOW CIRCLE in my attachment). Regards, Savvas

Hi, Does anyone know which Key Blanks for the '85 MYTurbo Esprit? (All four keys - Ignition, Boot, Filler Caps, Doors) I have read Vauxhall and Toyota being mentioned - (I presume they are different from each other) Would a key cutter be able to tell which one? Thanks

Is there useful value in having a panel lamps switch? I don't recall cars owned where the panel lamps were controlled other than by the same switch used for running (marker) lamps. Cheers

Hi guys I’m in the middle trying to replace the voltage regulator on my car (84 Turbo). It’s the first time I’ve had the instrument panel out and I can see that the right rheostat is completely disconnected. There are a couple of wires with what looks like a black fuse box thingy nearby. It looks like they have been messed about with by a previous owner. See attached photo. Any ideas on how to fix this? I noticed that I cannot dim the lights on my heater control panel, they are very bright. The left rheostat adjusts the brightness of the instrument cluster ok but doesn’t affect the heater panel. I am therefore assuming that the right rheostat was for that purpose…

Hello, I am currently transforming an Esprit Turbo 1984 from RHD to LHD, and I am looking for an heater/AC assembly because they are different. I don't find new assembly or parts. Maybe could you help me to find an used one, or even give me LHD assembly pictures in order to modify mine. I have the parts manual, but it is not really sufficient to see the details. Thanks
