Hi all, I`m after a set of rear brake hoses with the a banjo fitting at one end (for an m12 banjo bolt) and the standard fitting at the other. I`ve seen some kicking around ebay and such, but I don`t know the specs (length, thread at the non caliper end) of the originals to make sure they are the right thing. I found this page, but I`m not sure what to put in the options boxes - https://furoreproducts.co.uk/custom-brake-hose many thanks! Mark

Hi Guys, I am finally back working on the front suspension of the car. I need to fit the front pivot polybushes however it seems on one arm the bush has gone in but not all the way. Do I need to use a press or are they normally push fit? On the other arm, the bush seems to thick to go into the arm. I remember reading a while ago that there is some metal sleeve inside the bush housing that needs to be removed or modified? Can anyone confirm this?

I was looking around for alternatives(though my originals are ok for now) , and looks like pnm`s kit is based on vw passat/audi a6 etc calipers (00-05 ish i think), the s3 version they have looks machined, but the s2/s1 version looks like the exact same caliper and the pads match too.. would be good to know if they are one and the same.. i might look into it with my s3 as one of these calipers can be grabbed for less than £30 on the ebay. ta, Mark

Anyone got any experience of the Polyurethane bushes that appear to be in two halves? Are they any good? Thanks

Esprit CV Joints appear to be 108mm diameter, 40mm deep, 28 Spline, 10mm bolts with 94mm PCD. (Originally manufactured in Germany by Lobro). These dimensions are the same as the Porsche '930' CV joint used on many 911 variants of a similar age. If the Porsche item is not suitable, I can only assume it does not articulate through enough degrees (doubtful) or perhaps the internal Spider somehow has a different offset, or there is something else I have missed? What's puzzling me is that if it was that straightforward, the Specialists would be selling them.... Had anyone else used the Porsche spec items as a replacement?

I have just been fitting some new "proper" pre-85 front shocks which are back in stock at SJ. Previously had post-85 with the spring platforms machined off. But they were not good at all. When coming off a speed bump there would be a loud clonk, which was the shocks going to full extension. Also the ride was terrible. I suspected the post-85s must be shorter. This turned out to be absolutaly correct. The picture shows the post-85 with spring platform removed and the new pre-85 from SJ on the left. Both are on full extension and clearly there is a difference. I think this issue must have caused internal damage as there is no compression damping resistance at…

Hi guys, Is it possible to adjust the steering rack to remove the slop. I have quite a lot of play at the steering wheel. I've replaced the u/js which made no difference so must be the rack? Pete

I have a set of new front discs for my 1984 Turbo that I fitted. I checked the runout and endfloat on the discs and hub and all good, but I'm still getting a judder under braking. I've checked the steering and suspension etc and am sure its all OK. I spoke to Steve at SJ and he said the best thing to do is have the discs turned on the car. It looks like the caliper has to be unbolted and held out the way for the cutters to access the full faces of the disc. There are special adaptors for the machine to attach to the hub wheel face. Looks like the PCD is 5 bolt on a 120mm PCD. I have actually found someone locally who can do this but before I commit has anyone…

My Esprit is almost roadworthy again, but I was having some rubbing in the rear. Sounded like brakes, other than usually something like that would stop if you applied the brakes (and this doesn't). Ordered new rotors and pads, but when I got under the car I see that the rotor is rubbing the inside of the caliper bracket. Looks like it would take about the width of a shim to center the rotor in the bracket. I figured I must have put the shim in the wrong side of the rotor when reinstalling, but after pulling everything apart I had a shim on each side of the rotor. My monkey brain thinks I should move the second shim onto the other side (two shims) to make up the diffe…

I'm about to bring my S3 N/A out of hibernation and wondered what the latest thinking is on tyres. Does anybody have tyres that they are particularly happy with? There seems to be quite a lot of fronts available (195 60 15) but as ever the rears seem to be the issue (235 60 15). I'm not keen on advertising a chocolate bar but keen to hear any thoughts.

Can someone shed some light on this front bar below the Anti-Roll bar on the early G-Cars (picture saved from the internet some time ago). My early S1 (105H) car doesn't have such a bar. Was it introduced on the S2s as a re-inforcement of the front end of some sort? If so is it worth considering adding?

Hi all, I see that SJ-sportscars sells "original" rubber bushes or the two piece polyurethane bushes for the anti-roll-bar to lower link. There is also a choice for rubber or polyurethane bushes for anti-roll-bar to chassis. Any comments or preferences or experience on the choise to make here? Thanks geert

I recently bought a seal kit from SJ to rebuild my rear calipers, unfortunately it didnt come with the square profile seal that goes in the handbrake mech between the body of the caliper and the bit that bolts on. 1 of mine was fine but the other was shot. Does anyone know who can supply these ?

I have an '86 Turbo that I think is a little high in the rear end. I know there were some changes in ride height from the early models to the later models, but this seems excessively high. In my searching for springs, it seems that the rear springs were changed to later ones that are longer than standard? I would like to try to return my car to a level ride - currently the rear of the side sill is more than an inch higher off the ground than the front - so I'd like to drop it an inch. Searching for springs has drawn a massive blank, as have spring rates - I've seen some reports of 155 lbs per inch but can't be sure if that was a Turbo or A/C or not. Does anyone …

Lower link modified for air ride. I'm putting the car back on coils and will convert to post '85 (adjustable platform) dampers, which means I can just remove the original platform to make the repair easier. Cutting the MIG welds for the inner reinforcement was pretty easy, but there are a couple of spot welds that put up some resistance. There is some wear in the anti-roll bar holes, so I may swap the links side for side when I make the new reinforcing plates.

I was working on my car yesterday and noticed that this suspension bush at the left rear wheel was all chewed up (see photos). Question 1: Is it easy to change without springs and parts flying everywhere? Question 2: What is this bush called so that I know which part to order?

As per title, I have a knackered servo booster unit on my 1984 S3 NA. It is no longer holding or even able to vacuum up. Hoping someone here can give leads as to who might rebuild them or sell them new/used. TIA

Hi Guys, i never orderd adjustable suspension for a Esprit Turbo, so i have some questions, hopefully some of you can answer them, i have 2 LHD esprit turbo cars, and both they are still standing on orginal suspension, and that orginal suspension looks awfull, because the wheel gap is just to much i need to lower both car, the paperwork from both cars is 1986, BUT i have check the chassis numbers from both and also the front brakes, and one of the 2 cars is not from 1986 but its a 84 car, (so it has the old brake discs) the qeustions, are : i never orderd adjustable suspension for a G turbo esprit, and i am from the ne…

Hi I am sure there will be others in my position or people who could be interested in a spare. I have been making enquiries into have the Esprit S1/S2 Steering Wheel pad made. I know someone who is a film prop maker and works in rubber, plastic, specialist printing, CNBC machining etc and he might be willing to make a small batch. Wondering who would be interested for possible numbers. Secondly would someone be willing to send there's for him to copy. He might also be able to make early S1 ashtrays too as he is a man of many skills but one small project at at time. Thanks again Ross

Hi All, I realize this topic has been addressed before but I wanted to re-inquire since it's been quite awhile. Specifically, is anyone aware of any company/individual who can overhaul the original Armstrong shocks ? I purchased a set of Spax quite some time ago and even though the car is not fully assembled, from what I already see, I'm expecting a much higher then acceptable ride height (especially the front). Springs have been changed back to the originals and the problem persists. I would hope the Armstrongs (in their refurbed state) would provide an acceptable ride height similar to when I first got this car many years ago. If anyone knows of someone who ca…

When I replaced the brake light switch on my car a few weeks ago, the old switch had this red thing connected to it. The new switch (which looked identical to the old one) didn't come with this red thing so I just fitted it to the car without the red thing and the brake lights now work perfectly. However, at around the same time, the audio sound from my cassette player started playing up (the sound from the radio is still OK). Now I'm wondering if this red thing could possibly have something to do with that. It's probably just a coincidence but I'd be interested to know your opinions. Obviously I could re-attach the red thing to the brake switch to see if that corrects th…

This is the rear damper on the driver’s side near the exhaust. All bolts are removed, spring is compressed. Because the top damper mount shifted towards the rear of the car, it now prevents the damper from sliding out. I am preparing to try and cut the central bush sleeve. I figure that is replaceable should i end up keeping the dampers. Anyone other ideas?

Started stripping the suspension on my early Federal S1 (105H). Does anyone else have these adjustable rear lower links? Are these factory or replaced afterwards? The poly bushing is gone and the rose joint on the other end has play in it. I am thinking of going back to fixed rear arms.
