Went out for a drive on Saturday, parked the car and went to lock it, no joy. Went to start it, nothing, and I’m 50 mile away from home where the spare key is. Googled battery type, it’s a CR2025 and found a camping shop 3 miles away that had one. A kind couple sat in the car next to me offered to take me and bring me back with the battery. I fitted the new battery with the help of a borrowed screwdriver, and everything was fine again. The car is a 2010 and I’ve had it 12 years and never replaced the key fob battery, so it was well over due I guess. There were no warning signs at all that the battery was dying, it just went from working to dead - so if you haven’t replace…

I have checked a few reviews and photos but am still not 100% clear so I thought I would just ask! For background, I have been contemplating upgrading the power in my Cup 380. The logical but expensive option is to take it to Germany have Komotec do the big dog version. However, most my cars are modified and I am fond of the fact that the Cup is still ‘standard’. Hence I find myself enquiring about buying a 430 Cup. In close inspection, it seems that Lotus dropped some of the Aero that was standard on the full spec 380 Cup. Things like Titanium exhaust and Magnesium wheels seem the same but details such as the carbon barge boards are missing from the 4…

Hi, Ok, I have currently have, on my MY2011 N/A: Lotus Sports Exhaust 2bular Decat Pipe BOE CAI However, people comment on how 'quiet' the car is, given its looks demand some more noise. I don't want anything too hooligan, but just some more drama. So maybe valved. I've seen recommendations on the 2bular Exhaust, but also people still waiting. What can anyone recommend to give something a bit more theatre? Thanks Chris

Every time I get a new toy I always go through it with fine tooth combe and and carry out any projects required as I am very fussy and enjoy working on the cars as well driving them. I have had the Evora just over 3 weeks and carried out a few small improvements and changes as the major projects will be done during the winter months when the car will be parked up in the garage. Items done to date Replaced the interior and the boot light bulbs with 6 led. With having a short front number plate, removed the black plate mount and repainted it the same colour as the car colour. Removed the wheels and cleaned up and painted the brake disc centres. Adju…

1978 Lotus Eclat 521,no keys or V5 company invoice supplied. Been stored many years, we’ve dismantled ignition to get it turning over, sunroof glass missing (??shown in pics) but aside from that it looks all there, interior is grotty but all there, rolls freely for loading.underside looks pretty good. It’s a restoration project so best to just come to us and have a proper good look before deciding. hi I have an odd number of shimplates on the top of the wishbones. Drivers side has 1x3mm at back and 1x3mm (parts 40) and 2 x 1.5mm(parts 39) at the front. The passenger side has 1 x 3mm at back with 2x3mm and 2x1.5mm at front. So not the same side to side. That seems wrong to me. Is it correct or poor maintenance, Thx

Radiator. This is the radiator i took out of my '74 Elite (see pic. on right) made of aluminium. I have contacted a respected radiator re-builders, that have been in business for 40 years, with a view of getting it re-cored. I sent photo's and recieved a call, from the managing director no less, and he told me that in all the time he has worked in the industry he has never seen a radiator like it. He says it is a very unusual construction and as such he would not be able to do a re-core. He waxed very lyrical about its "uniqueness" and the fact the the end tanks were incorporated into the construction. This got me thinking. Given that Lotus liked to raid o…

6 Elises, 2 V6 Exiges, 1 S1 Exige and an Elan lined up in the Orange car park at the Eden Project in Cornwall yesterday - very nice display. A friend saw them heading up the hill in Newlyn some time as well. Is there a Lands End run going on maybe?

The ram pipes on my DHLA carbs are 48mm with just 15mm clearance to the filter plate. Shouldn’t there be more clearance using smaller length pipes?

https://cardealermagazine.co.uk/publish/bmw-halts-the-sale-of-all-police-cars-to-forces-in-the-uk-with-immediate-effect/277526 Also says.. The halt of sales to the police follows a number of forces across the UK restricting duties carried out by BMW police cars featuring the N57 diesel engine. Some forces stopped the cars being used for high speed pursuits and relegated them to ‘less stressful’ duties. The N57 engine features in the 330d, 530d and X5 models used by police up and down the country.

An early example of an Elise S1 in the great colour combination of metallic Storm Titanium with a red leather interior and just 31400 recorded miles. Featuring the highly desirable Metal Matrix Composite (MMC) brakes that were an innovative feature of early examples and now sought after amongst collectors. Also an aluminium engine cover; another early-car feature. This particular vehicle has had just four previous owners. I sold it to the last owner and the owner before that kept the car for over sixteen years. Prior to his ownership, the vehicle was serviced five times by Frosts of Shoreham, up to a mileage of 12927. With sparing use since, the vehicle was competently …

I’ve been using lockdown to get going with jobs long overdue on my esprit S4! Cam belt done! So next the drive shaft oil seals. The manual references a tool for inserting the new seals, with two different collars (18 & 20mm). But I was hoping to be able to use a standard seal drive set that I have or an appropriate large socket that fits the seals. The key seems to be the depth to which one insert the new seal into the recess. I’ve measured the existing depths before disturbing anything. But my question to the experts out there is how do I measure the required insertion depth? I don’t want to do the job but still have leaks cos I haven’t pushed the se…

I've knocked out this monstrosity... and now have this... We've had a chap round and he's said we've got a good 9" chimney and it's just fine for a wood burner with a 316 steel 6" flue dropped down the chimney, we can go up to 5kW. His quote for install is coming in at around £3.5k to £5k plus the cost of the stove which seems a little strong to me, or am I wrong? Anyone had one put in recently? PS We're having the whole room blue gritted/skimmed, there's a lot or artex!
