In my eyes the perfect N/A: the best colour, with the best interior, and with a few enhancements to improve spirited driving without detracting from its ability to travel long distances. These early Evoras (2009 Launch Edition) had the best combination of the most magically supple suspension, plus the long-ratio gearbox (the same ratios for the first two gears, but longer 3rd-6th for much quieter & more efficient motorway driving – think 35+ mpg on a run). Then you put it into sport mode, it becomes an absolute attack dog, with a savage engine note and sublime steering feel. These qualities, plus the back seats for bags, make it one of the best sports car / GTs ever,…

Hi guys I’ve had overheating problems with my car (84 Turbo) since I bought it last year. Initially I think it was an airlock that was causing the problems. I changed the coolant temp sensor, checked the fans were in working order, replaced the header tank which was leaking and flushed and renewed the coolant. The temp gauge now stays consistently at just below 90 degrees all the time when driving. However, if I get out of the car when it’s fully warmed up and leave the engine idling for a couple of minutes then the temperature keeps rising until it gets worryingly high. The fans do not seem to come on so I manually turn them on by putting the AC on …

In whats called a "Major escalation" Unite Union have announced strikes as per below. "About 2,000 officers who are members of the Unite union will walk out for 31 days between 24 June and 27 August. It said workers had rejected a "below inflation pay offer of 10.1% " There's a couple of things that I don't agree with. As Someone who got 6% I think over 10% is very, very generous. Especially based on its losses over the last few years! " The strikes come as Heathrow is struggling to recover from the impact of the pandemic. The airport's operator recorded a £139m loss in the first three months of this year. But Unite's Sharon Graham said: "This is an incredi…

@Rambosuggested in another thread that it would make sense to have a TLF overview of Emira issues. Since I had a few experiences in the weeks of ownership, I thought it might be a good idea to list them. I'd like to underline that my intention is not to paint a picture of an unreliable car, we should remember that all manufacturers have these kind of issues with new models. And as always in life, it matters most how problems are handled. My dealer did an excellent job at doing his very best and I had the impression that Lotus HQ was very keen to monitor and hopefully learn in the process. So here is my summary after 3 months and nearly 3000km: 1) …

Is anyone familiar with a company named DJS Automotive in Earl Shilton. They make some pretty extravagant claims on their web site about being able to Service a Lotus without affecting any Warranty that may be left on the vehicle. Neil Fellows [email protected]

Only available as part of the French Frolic package The Circuit du Var is located on the French Riviera near Toulon. The 2.4km track was initially a F1 test track in the 80s for AGS, a F1 team located at the circuit. When the team ceased to operate in F1, it was decided to create a racing school where F3 and F1 cars could be driven, which is still the case today! ONLY AVAILABLE AS PART OF THE FRENCH FROLIC PACKAGE Arguably the most fun you can have at a ‘proper’ race circuit with your pants on! Ledenon is an anti-clockwise circuit providing a roller-coaster ride with steep crests and descents and a superb variety of swooping corners. Situated just a few miles from the ancient Roman towns of Nimes, Ales and Orange while the Pont du Gard is a few minutes away there really couldn’t be a circuit placed better to take a few days to relax and sight see. Open Pit Lane – what else would you want! PLEASE READ OUR TERMS & CONDITIONS, BY SIGNING UP FOR THIS EVENT YOU AGREE TO ACCEPT THEM. The post Ledenon | Friday 16 August 2024 app…

Hello, I recently purchased a 1977 S1 Esprit (148H) off BAT and I’m hoping I can get some help from the community to get it back on the road. Unfortunately a number of missing parts were omitted from the description of the car in the listing. I’m currently missing LH filler neck, filler hose, LH tank, fuel pump, flow lock and a number of hoses. Because I don’t have the old tank as a reference SJ is having trouble letting me know what is the correct tank to purchase. Also apparently the filler neck is no longer available. Does anyone know where I could purchase a used LH filler neck? Also does anyone have diagrams/pictures of the fuel line routing and fuel pump mounti…

Hi all, I've started to experience an issue with the revs dropping very slowly when the engine is hot, especially after it's been sat for a while which makes changing gear smoothly a bit of a nightmare and it's as if the throttle is on/off. There's no progression to the accelerator so lots of kangarooing and the engine idles at about 1500rpm. No problem when cold and idles at 900rpm ish and no problem driving when on the go. I have a feeling is might be something to do with a new butterfly spindle I fitted to one of the carbs that is possibly stiff/sticky. Replaced the return spring at the same time but I wonder if there's anywhere else I should be looking at. P…

Apologies if this has been discussed before, I did a search but didn't see it. I noticed at the weekend that the engine management light flashes 10 times then goes back to constant prior to engine start. Everything seems to run fine, and no errors with my diagnostic tool. The car is trying to tell me something but can't quite determine it. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. Dale

Nah. Not on the streets here. Liz has been binging on Midsommer Murders on Prime and It was parked out the front of some swanky house. And then the director had the presence of mind, as part of the story, to crash a tractor into it. I was quite upset at that.

I am just starting off a 1985 Turbo Esprit Restoration. The previous owner has already done a fair bit of work and it looks great - he has clearly had the body off the chassis, completely restored and repainted the chassis including renewing the suspension on all four wheels. Brake pipes have been refitted along the chassis as well. I also know from his very detailed notes that he has gone through the engine and given that a thorough overhaul too. The body has then been refitted to the chassis - but in reality it is not much more than resting on the chassis, with just 4 bolts holding it on currently. The interior is completely stripped out and I am i the process …

Here guys I was sitting in my little box the other week in the middle of the Caspian Sea and started deliberating the problems with Global Warming and the receding water levels worldwide. Strange what you do when sitting in a tin box miles offshore. Well the train of thought went something like this. Governments worldwide are charging a fortune in tax on fuels and saying we are burning up fat to much fossil fuels which in turn creates global warming, again which is causing, or so they say the melting of the ice cap which in turn you would think would increase water levels worldwide. Well think on it this way. drilling companies drill lots of big long holes in the seabed…

My mud flap brackets have corroded to dust (top marks to lotus for using un painted mild steel on the one part of the car most likely to be exposed to water and salt!) I have new brackets from Lotus, and plan to paint them before installation, but does anyone have any installation instructions? I looks like I need to remove the lower body panel behind the front wheel and the wheel arch liners. Any hints, advice, pics would be much appreciated

Hello!! First post on the forum following a year long restoration of a 1980 Esprit S2.2! I bought the car from a lovely gent called Peter in France and have enjoyed the restoration albeit much more expensive than I expected... !!! Thought I would share some pictures of the results so far. Think I will need some community help for the snagging bits that we can't figure out but I will bore you with that list another time. p.s I know the wheel colour is the wrong shade... will fix after the summer!! Love to know what you all think. James from Edinburgh

Who has owned their Evora long term? Mine is a one owner car (me!) from new in Sept 2012, so about 9.5 years. Who has owned theirs longer and is it a keeper?
