Has anyone bought and installed the upgrade gear linkage bushes from PNM? What are everyone's thoughts? I am thinking of installing these upgrade bushes alongside the SJ linkage cable upgrade kit.

Hi all, these two items are situated just below where the S4 twin header tanks are fixed. On the larger is written RISTS, has a rubber ring around it and sits in the white clip. How does it come apart to clean it, can find nothing on utube. Is the other rubber covered item in the thick white ,with red trace wire ,(starter circuit?) just a connector or something else. Does it come apart for cleaning and repair. Thanks for any help.

Not to jump to conclusions, but ~1hr driving ago I had an engine warning light, which OBD code reads as low Catalyst function. On the way to the garage I noticed intermittent reduced performance (a feeling of the engine being 'strangled') and at the garage the mechanic noted the exhaust rattles when shaken. I'm becoming concerned my factory cats are collapsing. The car is currently with Hoffmans who I took it to to diagnose the loss of power and engine light coming on. I read that this is not unheard of fault on the Supercharged cars. Looking at the website 2bular appear to offer a sport cat option 'power kit' & full system for £4675 plus fitting. A nic…

Hello, I am attaching a few pictures with a number of wires around the engine (1987 Esprit S3 HC). Could anyone suggest how to connect them or what's the use of them? 1. Two wires pictured in RED CIRCLES in my attachment are under the water tank. 2. One orange wire with a plug at the end is near the dipstick (pictured in a GREEN CIRCLE). 3. One cable goes to the A/C pump and a grey cable with a plug at the end looks alone... (pictured in a YELLOW CIRCLE in my attachment). Regards, Savvas

Finally got my esprit back on the road since before the covid lock down. Reversing it back into the slightly narrower garage I spotted one reason why its so awkward to reverse using the mirrors my door mirror have different magnifications! having looked I can get concave or flat relatively easily which are best /originally fitted? Any recommendations for an aftermarket reversing camera the eBay one I have works but has a narrow viewing angle and takes ages to stabilize. would it be sacrilege to drill the bumper for ultrasonic sensors? I have matching midlife crisis red paint.... car is a 1989 SE Esprit

Hello all While in the process of upgrading the software of my Alpine (in a shop), I had to take it off the car. As you all know, radio reception is crap. So I decided to buy a little antenna amplifier to improve it. And now, I really do not know where is a 12V wire to connect the antenna. Can somebody help me ? I wanted to pic the 12V coming into the radio, but colour codes doesn't seem to match. Second question. On the pic you can see 2 (or 3) plugs. aparently not used. Is it normal for a Europan car ? Thank you for your help. Arnaud

Hi guys! Im new to the forum and to lotuses/loti in general, so apologies if this isnt the best place to post this. So after a quick dabble with a Scimitar SS1, I am completely converted to the lighweight RWD classic sportcar. I had a few minor complaints about the SS1, so Im hoping that an Excel (or one of its siblings) might be the answer. The SS1 wasnt very practical, only had 2 seats and quite a small boot. And very little headroom with the hardtop. Also mine being the 1600 CVH engined one it was quite slow and very unrefined. So, is a lotus the answer to my problems? Does an Excel drive like a propper sports car, as well as being practical enough for day to…

So I asked the Exige guys (because there's a lot of Track experience there) and got some good options for brake pads for Road use with occasional Track days. Top suggestions were: Carbon Lorraine RC5+ or RC6 Performance Friction PF08 Warning on the RC6 pads was they eat disks, maybe a bit more Track only. So I went with RC5's as a first try. Now done 2-3k road miles and 2 Track days on them. Positives: Excellent pedal feel and bite from cold & in the wet. I'd guess coefficient of friction near double standard pads. Very confidence inspiring on the road. Also, brakes come back as good as new even after being overheated and smoking. Ne…

Thought I'd start this thread to keep track of my progress with this car, and to have some discussion on it. Tech questions I'll probably keep on tech-specific threads but we'll just see how this evolves. So, after living in Japan for 10 years and building a few cars including a Mitsubishi Evo I, a Mazda RX-7 (FC3S) and most recently a 550+bhp Mitsubishi Evo III, I've made my way back to England and got hold of this little beauty. Quite a few of you out there know the history of this car (owned by Team Lotus for 5 years, driven by Nigel Mansell & Elio de Angelis etc etc). But my job is now making sure its future is successful. I've got a short list of things t…

I understand that this has now been published. Has anyone bought a copy yet? https://www.veloce.co.uk/store/Lotus-Evora-p445897315 I was wondering how different it was to his original Evora book. It will obviously be updated but is it essentially a reprint (with a couple of additional chapters) or something more original? The sample pages certainly look very interesting: https://www.veloce.co.uk/warehouse/downloads/sample_pdfs/V5767.pdf

2023 has gone from strength to strength already. I’m still awaiting the finality of my divorce - but that’s coming. Work is somewhat problematic due to transporting Alice to and from her studies in Malvern some 12 miles away - so it’s just gonna have to wait until she’s got her driving license later in the year. The work diary is however filling with future prospects - and it’s possible Danny will come on board as an apprentice. Cars….hmmmm well…….I’ve been enjoying the Evora during the autumn and winter. The spring and summer it’ll be Esprit heaven I’m sure of that. Need to sort this spitfire I’ve got sat on the patio - but school runs, work diary and general s…

My old Carb Turbo! In for an 'enhanced' C service after spending a while out of action. Haven't seen it for over 10 years, and the cambelt is the one I fitted then.

As I said, and it begins! My first task will be to totally gut the interior, everything has a musky smell but not the enjoyable one. During this I happened to put my hand through the bulkhead( oops!) replace? YES. Now to my first of many questions, Is the bulkhead glued in?, or is just bolted, believe me, it doesn't really show in my car. I´ve been searching but can´t really find any thread that shows a bulkhead replacement.

Hi Everyone, Putting my Nov'21 420 FE up for sale. One of 34 UK 420's and the only one like this with black pack delete. Car will be on c10.5k miles. Only reason for sale is to release funds to move to an Atom 4, but will happily keep if a sale doesn't come through. Car is stock besides an Apple Car Play headset, a pioneer setup. The car has been maintained very thoroughly, with 4x oil changes and I had the gearbox oil changed last November by Lotus Silverstone. Always stored in my garage, with hubs and other exposed parts coated in ACF 50. I am reluctant to go down the dealer route if possible, especially while the car is under warranty until November 20…
