I am about to buy my first air compressor and am unsure about what to buy. I hate working on cars so it's not something I will be using a lot. Therefore I don't want to spend a lot of money. Ideally under £150. I would be using it to power an impact driver for removing stubborn nuts and bolts on my car. One other thing I would like to use it for at some point is sandblasting or media blasting metal parts to remove rust etc. What sort of CFM/PSI and capacity volume should I be looking for?

This seems such a simple question but I am stumped. I've got a 1985 Turbo model, but with the additional plastic expansion tank and other cooling mods set out in Service Bulletin 1987/26 (see below). From the look of the header tank, it bolts to the side of the engine bay somewhere. However I can't find any holes in the body or engine surround. I'm assuming it should end up somewhere near the front of the arch just behind the petrol tank (see photo) but can't see how. Am I missing a bracket or got completely the wrong end of the stick? Also, if anyone has a full copy of S/B 1987/26 and could upload it or provide a link it would be appreciated. I struggle to fin…

Dear fellow Lotus Esprit owners, I recently had the pleasure of acquiring my dream car, a Lotus Esprit 2.2 Turbo SE in that awesome pearl white that I searched a lot in previous months, from a used car lot. While I am absolutely thrilled with my purchase, I wanted to reach out to the wonderful community of Lotus enthusiasts to ask for your advice and suggestions. Consider that the car it’s stop since 9 years. Car has only 70’000km and was used by a really good owner. As with any used car purchase, I want to ensure that my Esprit is in the best possible condition before hitting the road. With this in mind, I am seeking recommendations on what parts and components…

Car went in for its 7 year service at 35000 miles last week and was found to have cracks in both rear upper wishbones along the bore in which the spherical joint should be a press fit. Consequently both wishbones were free to move along the spherical joints until they made contact with the retaining lugs on the hub carriers. The first picture is the left hand wishbone and the second is the right hand and clearly shows the the contact area with the hub carrier after the spherical joint has slipped due to the relaxation of the interference fit in the wishbone bore. It is also apparent in the first picture how far the joint has moved since this is the as removed from t…

Hi all. In true ‘if it ain’t broke don’t try and fix it’ spirit, I decided to carry out some maintenance this morning and found a connector not connected to anything (and no sign of what it should be connected to!). Anyone have any ideas?

4 anthracite wheels with new(ish) Avon ZZR tyres in very good condition. Price assumes collection by buyer. The stripe is just rim tape, so easily removed if not to the buyers taste. The tyres have done 3 track days & have plenty of tread left. The post OEM Forged Wheels from Sport 410 appeared first on lotusforsale.com. Click to view item

They have created their 3rd event..... cars were queuing to come in, reaching out to the main road outside, how they will manage to get up to 350 cars in will be interesting. As for cars stopping to pay £5 on the day - this may slow things down. Hendy had their Emira, and Ian and Mark had their Evoras at last weekends event. The queue for tea/coffee in the shop was better than the first event and there was an outdoor catering stand for bacon baps etc From their Facebook post: We will be having more cars, more trade stands, more catering and even the chance to book the Dad’s in for a passenger ride experience in some of the cars It’s …

My Lotus excel has been struggling to accelerate under load especially uphills but has always started easily albeit using full choke. Today it would not start. I can hear the fuel pump but it is fast and and continues for at least a minute before it stops. I can smell fuel. Any thoughts as to whether this could be a stuck needle valve or another scenario. Any ideas welcome. Thanks Bob

Hi, Does anyone know where the best place to source replacement reflectors for the arches on a 400/410? Mine are yellowed. Tried cleaning with Bleach, vinegar/bicarb etc but not much better and can't be bothered to remove them and attempt sanding and polishing in case that still doesn't work.. I can see Greg's Race Parts sell them for 40 dollars a pair but ideally I'd find a cheaper UK supply if poss.. Also not sure if anyone knows if they are Lotus or other manufacturer taken from another car? Thanks, Ed

Why is it so difficult to find a service manual (for less than silly money) for a 1989 car? I can get a 1989-88 manual easily and a post 93 manual easily, but the 88-93 manual is so difficult. Just wondered if people know why?

My right turn indicators suddenly stopped working on my way back from track this week. All indicators flash on setting the security alarm, so nothing wrong with the lamps, but the Hazard Warning only flashes on the left side so this indicates possible ICM failure. Interestingly I found two threads on Lotus Talk with the identical problem (ie right hand turn failure pointing to ICM, and in each case the ICM was replaced to fix the problem) https://www.lotustalk.com/threads/right-turn-signal-directional-indicators-not-working-on-evora-400.534879/ https://www.lotustalk.com/threads/drivers-side-indicator-issue-2010-lotus-evora.439081/. A coincidence that it was …

Last night, around 7.30pm, a Black Emira heading northbound on the A74(M) just before J18, Lockerbie South. I was heading southbound in my 40-tonner so no greetings exchanged. That's the first one I've seen 'out in the wild' away from an organised car meet and I have to say that it does have a certain presence on the road, .

Evening all. Just stripping down the bonnet of the Elite for painting and when I was popping the metal frame out it fell apart in my hands. Years of living in a field had taken their toll. So I realise it's unlikely that anyone just has the frame lying around but if they do please let me know. Failing that a bonnet, any colour, any condition but with a solid frame would be great. It's at this point that I regret the spare bonnet I used to have going for 99p on eBay...

Hi folks Nice to join this forum at last. I got my Exige 350 Sport a year ago - it's simply wonderful. The last owner did a few visual mods - I've added a soft top (oh wow what a transformation it makes to the whole experience), a decent CarPlay head unit, speakers etc and a new plate. Looking forward to meeting folks here and in real life! If anyone's a follower of JayEmm on YouTube, the car was featured a couple of months ago. It's had a good clean since then - it's amazing how grubby it got in 50 miles on the way to filming. Nick
