I've read the service notes and various other threads about this but there is one thing I'm unsure about. When tightening the crown wheel nut I assume it forces the bearing race out towards the crown wheel. If you then decided its to tight, then undoing it would not draw the race back as its pressed into the case. or am I missing something here any thoughts? Cheers Andy

Just spotted my first Emira, heading east at Mountain Ash, South Wales. What a lovely looking thing to behold in the flesh. Shame about its owner, blatantly chatting on his hand held mobile phone whilst driving.🤬

Hi, I’m at the stage of putting things back together….like the pop up headlamps! I have never seen these work before as the electrics were shot when I got the car…. So I’d appreciate your opinions….are these working properly? The arms seem to be parked in different positions between the two lights, and that’s why they seem to operate at different times when energised or turned off. Also I understand why they go down before popping up….but is that correct or do I need to adjust them? thanks 🙂 IMG_1904.mov

WIth the limited time I've had this week to fiddle, I can't get any DAB stations, despite there being great DAB reception in the area. Any top tips to get me started in the morning, before I phone the Dealer/CC?

My backup key is not working and I changed the battery to one I think is okay but no joy. Do you have to reprogram them if they go flat for extended periods? thx

Unfortunately for me, my starter motor packed up yesterday. Even more unfortunate, is that Lotus do not have any stock and don't know when they will (So i was told today). Have searched high and low on the net for a new replacement, to no avail. Evora is my daily drive so if anyone knows of any new starters available please let me know. Part number is A132E0014k. (previously A132E6052) Thanks in advance.

Hi all I am actively looking for an Evora and I've been speaking to a few people selling cars and hoping to start doing some viewings over the next few weeks. I've yet to encounter a perfect car, and the couple of owners I've spoken to have pointed out a few jobs that need doing or areas where the car would benefit some attention. As these are quite specialist are there any recommended specialists/dealers that will carry out a pre purchase inspection on any potential car I find? Also most cars I've looked at have come from or been serviced at Bell and Colvill. Would they be able to carry out an inspection and share any info they have on the car as if they suppli…

The car is a 1998 esprit v8. I have rebuilt nearly the whole car recently but there’s one thing I still cant get. The car will start fine cold, and start fine hot, but once stated it will misfire, run choppy and sometimes die. This will only last for about 10 seconds, and as wick as a snap of the fingers the car will switch to being perfect. On throttle and driving it acts perfectly normal, until you give it more than say 80% throttle and climb above 4K rpm and then let off the throttle, the same thing happens again, and it will feel lean and choppy for 10 seconds before instantly switching to perfect again. this only happens when the throttle is released and wi…

Hi all I'm actively seeking an Evora so if anyone has the urge to let their pride and joy or spots a good one then please message me. I'm ideally looking for an Evora S or SR but would consider an NA car. I'm happy to consider manual or auto cars but car has to be a 2+2 as the wife will kill me if I can't do the odd school run in it. The two things I'm really looking for are colour and condition. My ideal car is Motorsport green, orange (chrome or burnt) or aquamarine. After my last 4 cars being silver/grey I definitely need a change. I'd also consider red. As I say if you are thinking of selling then please ping me a message. Thanks Trev

Stunning Pearl White Evora with just 51,500 miles so averaging just over 4,000 a year and the condition reflect this. 2011 “S” Registered in January of 2011. This car also benefits from the plus 2 variant, and i have used it with my 11 month old, he loves it! The history is superb with a significant amount of invoices with the car, major works including the all important gearbox and clutch replacements, carried out in 2018 and 2019 at Lotus main dealer so there are no worries or concerns that these will need doing again for a long time, which was a main contributor to me buying this car. The interior is finished in the red leather Recaro seats in the front and the red a…

1986 HC, 1987 HC, 1988 X180, Bosch K-Jetronic Continous Injection System cars should have a separate thread because of their unique fuel system and unique problems. They are fabulous when they run. When they stop-it is not funny. There is no scan tool to tell you where to look for the fault. Most of the problems could be solved easily, but diagnostics is rather complicated. For example: my 88 X180 did not wake up from the winter hibernation. I checked the usual suspects, hoses, wires, spark, battery, etc. I can hear pump(s) buzzing and can smell the fuel in the exhaust pipe area after prolonged cranking. No start. My suspicion is that one of the "modules", like RPM or…

Hi all I’ve not had the car long... But I’ve seen that you can get carbon version of this par attached— Is it a tricky job to change? James

Took delivery of my Cup today and very quickly broke the engine cover release lever, so all my luggage remains locked away. I know it’s been covered before but it really is a pretty weak design. Looks like a trip back to the dealer !!! Main point really was to establish a thread for the foibles on a new Lotus. I had air bag delete which included the harness brace, but it would appear the plastic cover behind seats gets removed showing all manner of Cables. I was assured this was normal but would appreciate views on this. Looks a bit naff really but maybe it is the only solution Also Really would have liked the switchable exhaust button, as on my 380 an…

Despite having covered only 5700 miles, my wiper blade seems to be utterly useless. I've searched a fair bit but haven't found a V6-specific wiper blade available - are they the same as the S2? Also, having seen an uprated wiper arm on one site, does anyone know if such a thing would be of benefit, or is my miserable wiper experience quite unique?

Hi Guys I've just started my search for a S1 Elise for up to £20k. Not looking for a race/ track warrior as I already have a trackday car. Would also prefer non red, orange, yellow or lime green paint! I'm based in Birmingham but don't mind travelling to see the right car. Thanks Jas

The house we moved into 6 months ago is about 20 years old and has a 32 amp fuse at the consumer unit going to a cooker switch in 6mm cable where it splits also in 6mm, one piece goes to a ceramic hob and the other to a double oven. As a temporary measure until we redo the kitchen I would like to replace the ceramic hob with an induction hob and replace the double oven with a Bosch integrated microwave combination single oven. Should that work.

Forced idle 1 2

My Evora is now showing some erratic behavior... I would appreciate your help in finding out/guessing why I randomly have a forced idle and slight delayed throttle response. I have had now the car throwing twice a CEL and traction control light. When cleared, it normally runs smoothly, but today the forced idle came back once and then disappeared. I attach a picture of the codes I got this last time (this morning when I had to cancel joining a nice run out with some Lotuses and Porsches... brrr) Any clues? TIA

Hi, Does anyone know if there is a cheaper replacement option for the rubber seal/trim that fits around the headlight between the light unit and the body of the car? It is for a K series S2 Elise and I need both left and right. Over £100 seems a little pricey for two pieces for rubber trim. Many thanks for any help
