Did anyone figure out how to install both harnesses and belts on 390FE or cars with similar seats? SimplyLotus told me their solution doesn't work, it's only for carbon seated cars.

Hi Guys, It has been a while since posting on here, so please forgive the radio silence since asking after a Roadster back in 2020. At the time I was interested in the Blue/Tan one that Stratton's had for sale but shortly after seeing the car I found out that my wife was expecting, which quickly put pay to even the most optimistic of man maths! Some 2.5 years later, I'm back in the market and noticed that that same Blue/Tan was recently advertised on AT albeit at silly money. The car has since disappeared but I don't believe it has sold. Therefore, if anyone knows of any manual Roadster for sale with ideally a contrasting interior colour I'm all ears and eyes! …

Hey folks! I need some clarification and I hope you can help me. Since Brexit, things are getting complicated. When I order spare parts, VAT is beeing deducted/not charged in the UK and I have to pay 19% taxes when importing it into the EU. So far so good. But what about complete cars? If I buy one at a dealer, is he able do sell it without VAT (20% less/cheaper), or do I have to pay taxes twice? Any help appreciated! Cheers, Patrick

My V8 has developed the infamous hot start problem. Starts fine cold but if the coolant temperature is over 70 degrees then it just won't restart. The CEL stays on but there are no ECM error codes. Weird. The solution is to wait twenty minutes or so for it to cool down. Very frustrating. I have trawled the forum for solutions and found these two: I met a chap called Tony at a Club Lotus Wessex shindig last year and we were discussing V8 problems. I mentioned my hot start problem and he smiled. "Yes", he said. "It's the camshaft sensor. I changed mine and it fixed it". Ah ok. The V8's crankshaft sensor is also used on a Ferrari F50 Coupe 4.7 (1995 to 1997). Uh o…

i am looking for the original color of the OZ Nova wheels. Is the crystal titanium being said here the original color? If so, does anyone know the color code and what company the paint is from. I had mine refinished and the color match was terrrible.

My reconditioned gearbox have a small oil leak when i drive the car for a longer run. It looks to me the oil comes from the second screw from the top near the right outputshaft gasket, you can see the oil.Can i unscrew this bolt and reseal without having some problems? At first i was thinking it is leaking from the outputshaft gasket itself so i used a transparent gasket maker to find out the leak.I will remove that again. Any advice welcome......Gotti

From what year did they change to the stepped stud? It looks like this one is not stepped but I won’t know for sure until no get it all out. Any advice is much appreciated

Apparently a bank employee who was sad at losing his job if one is to believe the news. And then Liz just told me there was another one very near that one. The mayor lost a good friend in the first one. Just a tragic waste of lives.

I signed up for my gold forum membership a little over 7 weeks ago, but I’ve seen and heard nothing about the free detailing kit. Does anyone know if these normally take a while to come through? I used the “contact us” form on the site to ask the admin team about it a week ago, but received no response.

I'm looking for the parts that sit at the end of the cam - the spindle, hub and oil seal housing. Happy to pay postage from USA - assuming all the bits are over there! 😉 Thanks Pete

Only two owners from new, the first being Dany Bahar the ex-CEO of Lotus so it has some Lotus provenance and essentially everything was added to this car for Dany. I have owned this car since 2012. It is in fantastic condition inside and out with a unique and fully loaded specification including the 400 front bumper. 53,500 miles, MOT until January 2024 and last serviced in January. 2 keys and FSH dealer / Lotus specialist This is a launch edition and thus came with all the packages (tech, sport & premium pack) plus plenty of additional extras too including the close ratio sports gearbox, the lighter forged alloys in stealth grey which was a cost option (I also ha…

Working on a friends TC that had a dragging brake, we found the RR trailing shoe had debonded with about 0.141" of lining left. And on the LR, there is a crack at pretty much the same place on that shoe. It seems to be near the notch in the shoe, but I can't wrap my head around the shoe flexing there. Has anyone seen this before and does anyone have a guess what caused this?

I've been looking for something Lotus themed for my son for a little while, and finally spotted something on eBay today. Not seen this model before and it looks quite cool although it's definitely a project car and needs some work. The decals are almost certainly not available anywhere so I'm going to have to get them custom printed to replace the tired ones. The front wing looks like it's been in a few first corner skirmishes so that and some of the other plastic bits... well if they need repairs then I may need a 3D printer or something to build pieces to glue together and fix them. But it's something a bit different and I'm looking forward to the challenge of rest…

Hi everyone, I’m new here and have spent the last 12 months or so looking into Lotus cars with three in mind. An Exige S2, Elise Cup or an Exige S3. However after looking at various lotus’s of each model above with an itch to scratch it was a tough choice. A few days ago I found the perfect car after being let down by many S2 Exiges not meeting my standards and opting to leave the V6 Cup for a later scratch to itch as they say, so I didn’t end up with an S2 Exige, but instead I found the perfect and as described car in the S2 Exiges ultimate evolution/successor and I couldn’t be happier, an S3 Elise S-Cup. Some photos attached 👍🏻

Hi, simple question, what does the Sport button actually change? From what I can tell when driving it brings more throttle to the top of the pedal travel, and although maybe placebo effect seems to run a different map with a little more fuelling and hence burble and pops from exhaust. Is that about right or is there more subtle magic to it than that?

Today, just before 4pm, a Chrome Orange 70-plate Evora heading away from the Broxburn/Uphall area (passing the Houston House Hotel) in the general direction of Bathgate/Livingston. I was about to flash my lights and wave when it dawned on me that it might cause the driver some confusion, my being in our Alfa Giulietta dog-mobile at the time. Typical, despite it having an injured face, I've still done several hundred miles in the Evora over the past couple of weeks but never had so much as a sniff of another Lotus of any model, then the first time I'm in our other car and just 5 minutes after leaving home what should come along?....................... .

Woohoo! Finally spotted another Lotus while I was driving mine, so for the first time in months I was able to exchange waves with a fellow enthusiast. Yesterday, early afternoon, in Linlithgow High Street, a yellow Elise with what appeared to be a private plate - didn't catch what it was as I was too excited at just seeing the car, .

Incredibly rarely, my ABS engages inappropriately. Always at vey low speed, sometimes on slippery ground (but not always). For the last 6 weeks, this is now happening once a day. I do 15 miles a day and probably use the brakes 40 or 50 times and actually stop 10 to 15 times. The ABS engages just at the point of stopping but this is a bit unnerving if pulling up to a wall or another car as it seems to make the brakes less effective and increase the stopping distance by a matter of inches. The car is a '97 V8 with 95,000 miles and I have had it for 20 years and maintained it regardless of cost. I am also getting a suspension bush type creak from the rear of the car with an…

Superdudes! And beardy types. I am about to return my Esprit to the roads of Britain and thought I would give you a bit of a heads up, seeing as you're into this type of thing. But, please note; a, this is not a restoration, and, b, I have not done any of the work myself (thankfully for all concerned, including the car). Background - two and a half years ago I decided to buy an S1 and modify it (on the basis that the car in original form could not be considered a daily driver). But, it became clear that to modify an S1 would be a bit like touching up the Mona Lisa, so I decided not to take on the sandal and pipe brigade and settled for an S2. Now, at the time, t…
