Found this video of the launch of the X180 Turbo at Earls Court Motorfair from 1987. It still looks great all these years later.

So the task has begun. S1 striped to it's bare bones, chassis blast cleaned and two areas of corrosion found. To cure this a jig was built to keep the chassis rigid, corroded areas cut out and new metal set in place. 2 coats of zinc phosphate prier applied to all area's both inside the box and the outside then a special coating of rust preventative finish paint applied. Chassis all ready for rebuilding. All suspension and alloy components vapour blasted and primed with a preservative coating to await rebuild once all the parts are available. Inlet manifold and carbs vapour blasted in preparation for strip down and rebuild. Body shell sent off to the paint s…

In 2019, I got interested in this Bugatti Blue S4 (SCCFD30C5SHF61469) because of its unique color and (advertised) 415HP. Particularly, I was interested how such a power was achieved. The fact that it had Red Race chip +upgraded "T5" turbo and larger injectors, indicates that it was modded/owned by one clever Esprit "prototyper". For description look here http://www.2040-cars.com/car_info/?id=771623 . Interesting, huh? For a while car was owned by Alek Hegg in St. Lake City. He said he bought it with all modifications already implemented. In 2013, car was offered for sale in Salt Lake City trough Global Car Marketing 1301 Miller Ave, Salt Lake Cit…

Yep, need Ten Little Indians to play! Well..., actually only 6 now, LOL. I met in November 2014 with the President of EMCO Gears, which manufactured the UN-1 transmission upgrade kit for Holloway Performance. EMCO is willing to make more kits, but the minimum production order would have to be at least 10 units. EMCO is asking $4000.00 per kit, which is very close to the closing sale price of the original Holloway kit. This is a great deal, because the original production run required 20 units minimum. EMCO manufactures racing gear sets for INDY cars, Porsche, Ferrari and other high performance cars, so they have a proven track record. It would be great if …

While watching Harry’s garage visiting Gordon Murray’s new release, the T33 spyder, it was good to hear Mr Murray’s admiration for the Lotus Evora. Twice he mentioned and referred to the Evora with the development of his cars, that’s some recognition! Strange but he also went on to say he thought the Evora was the best handling car until he drove the Alpine 110, I’ve drove one before committing to an Evora and wasn’t that impressed but what do I know, I love my old Defender and think it’s comfortable 😝.

Junks is arranging a batch of windscreens for 340R (no longer available from Lotus and unique to 340R, size different to Elise and heated). This will be the third batch (2007 and 2012). Price is circa £450, which is a bargain. Info on Facebook and SELOC. The more orders, the lower the unit cost. Justin

Thought this might interest some. I lived near this pub and remember seeing the tv report on it's opening night. A F1 car was parked outside. What isn't mentioned is that the beertaps were in the style of a gearstick .. you selected your brew as if you were changing gear. Great fun pub while it lasted.

I am returning my Evora to road spec as I am no longer doing track days. Rather than get Chris to rebuild these suspension units I will replace them with new purpose built ones. Suspension is by Chris not the standard Nitron set up, for track use and fast road. This set up gives sharper turn in and better mid cornering control against wash out at speed. Basically it keeps the wheels on the ground without letting the body roll. The adjustable settings allow both road and track use. Also allows wet and dry settings to be set. Suspension consisting of dampers, springs and helper springs. Cost new was just short of 3000.00 pounds. £ 1600.00 collected from N…

I must admit the sound from the 400's stereo was pretty shocking straight out of the box. Lotus have been working on getting this right and attached is a guide. All cars being built from now will come with the sound set up like this but for anyone with an older 400 (!) or who has reset the battery etc, this is how to get it sounding much, much better lsl645 Evora 400 Equalizer set up for Alpine INE-W990BT ICE unit instructions.pdf

Hello, can anyone tell me what the Lucas Part Number is for the front fender side/blinker lights, on a 1971 Lotus Europa S2. Or are they the same as another vehicle.

Currently investigating why the operation of the door mirrors is flaky, they dont really move properly in the direction you want, although they do click in all directions and if you faff about with the switch enough they end up in the right place. I think I know what the problem is but not really sure why its happening. The switch has 5 connections, there is a common which is fed with 12V and 4 direction contacts. The direction contacts are diagonal so when the joystick is pushed over in each direction, 2 contacts are closed at the same time. This energises 2 out of 4 coils in the mirror which clicks it over. What is happening is when the joystick is half-pushe…

So I thought I'd do a bit of a build thread now that I am coming up to the first year with the car. That and I've got some time on my hands waiting in Frankfurt airport, so I though I'd bring together some of the little bits I have been doing… Previous to the 350 I've had a reasonable handful of Lotus's, S1's and S2's Elise/Exige with a K20 lump in an Elise and a komotec tweaked S2 Exige S, so though I had done my time in them. But for some reason decided I want to get back into the fold. After looking around for several weeks, I decided to order what I wanted. I know financially not the most sensible decision, but I thought I would get what I want as each previous t…

This Lotus Esprit belonged to my late father back in 1988, I believe he was the first owner of this car, I recently discovered from a family member a photo of the car having spent hours sieving through boxes of my mum and dads old photos trying to find a picture of the car and number plate with no luck. I am so pleased to see it still on the road ,and after some googling I found out it was last sold in September 2022 after the previous owner ownership of around 25 years. It still looks as amazing now in pictures as I remember it as a 7 year old boy when my father owned it. If anyone has any information on the car or know if it’s whereabouts I would love to hear with the…

My gear gaiter is non-standard looking, crafted out of vinyl and starting to look like it has been lightly chewed by a small dog... so I am working on a replacement closer to the original design made from leather - does anyone have a pattern or template I could have? I want to make sure it looks original if possible! Thank you very much in advance, Henry
