Hi guys, Want to ask if its possible to lower the ride height without change the stock coilover? I understand that Ohlin TTX has a ready made solution specifically for Emira, but I want to explore my options with the stock components first. Thanks!

Thought I'd post here rather than the slightly moribund Type 14 section, as more folk likely to see it:- https://www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2019-05-18/cars/ref-1-1959-le-mans-lotus-elite-ex-dickie-stoop/ If only my dodgy knees still allowed me to roll around on the floor underneath old cars, I think I'd be bidding for this, for sure. I could recreate that oh so beautiful 😍 first Lotus I saw as a 9 year old boy. 10 years ago I'd have been all over this car like a rash!

Some may recognise this thread from the Grand Tourers site.. I bought an Excel a few years ago now with an allegedly rebuild engine. Having fitted it and found it had zero oil pressure and then rebuilding the oil pump and PRV both time with zero pressue as the result I then took the sump off to change the nylon olive I discover 15+ stamped on the bearing panel. On looking through the receipts with for the parts fitted during the 'rebuild' i find the mains fitted were not +15 OD. the result is now I have a crank that has to go be re-ground and polished. I also find that these +15 main bearings are a bit like unicorns to buy, however there seems to be an 'aftersales list' …

Morning all! Received my new (to me) 340R last night, and very excited! The car was owned by one private owner from new, and has done just under 8.5k miles. The previous owner was actually working with the Lotus management team at the time the 340R was being designed and produced, so the car was actually purchased directly from the factory, and has the 190hp upgrade. Very happy/excited about the new toy and looking forward to getting to know it. The car is in lovey condition but having Have started to draw up a list of things that I’d like to do, but lucky to have something in great condition as a starting point. Some initial pictures……

One of my Excel's went for it's MOT on Monday, and Failed because the Nut had come Loose on the Front Lower Ball Joint. On investigation I found that even though they Both were Replaced back in late 2018, and it had been for 4 MOT's and Passed in each year and traveled less than 1500 miles. On Closer Inspection the Thread is now Damaged so am Replacing it. I can't remember where I found the Correct Torque Setting for it. I have looked in my Manual that has some Settings Listed, but not this one. I have also tried looking on the Net but again no Luck. Can someone Please tell me what the Correct Torque Setting should be, or where to Look. …

My 2011 S3 Elise is fitted with the original Alpine CDE-111RM CD radio head unit. This had a redundant factory fitted aux lead for connection to an early Iphone or iPod. I searched to see if a different led with a lightning connector was available, but Ifound on Amazon an amazing Bluetooth receiver that is a straight plug in replacement for this lead! I’ve plugged this into the back of the head unit, connected up the + and - to the power. Result: I now have Bluetooth audio without having to replace the head unit. Result!!

Excel SE in Monaco White with Red leather and Grey cloth interior. Not been run for some time but complete and ripe for restoration. Excel/Eclat in Jubilee Red Metallic. Engine removed and stripped. Gearbox gone. Interior pretty good. Would make a good donor or restoration project 2.2lt engine. Lotus Eclat rolling shell in Yellow. No engine or gearbox. Running gear complete so rolls ok. Front seats missing. Dash mostly complete. What can it be used for. Your choice. Ping me if any interest.

Hi Folks, Possibly mentioned previously, my Spoiler Brake light has water internally and only lights now and again. Where can you get a replacement and how do you prevent the ingress of water. i have heard that a MG 25 light will fit? Also is it better fitting clear or the red replacement. Thank you in advance.

On some Lotus special parts website or other site that I can t find anymore there was a special ignition module and the description of it was that it would give some kind of improved or more frequent ( 3x ) spark at lower rpm and then come back to standard spark frequency at higher RPM I saw a similar description of an ignition module in a 340R Japan blog ( in that case it was an MDI made by Nagai Denshi and recommended by Bodyshop Kobayashi ) but wanted to know if a similar product is available in Europe ? Thanks

My 1981 S3 has been converted to an Afla Busso V6 by a previous owner and I'm sorting some problems with the clutch. It had been standing for quite a while and when I tried to drive it around to the workshop, the clutch was stuck. Starting it in gear freed it off, but the bite point was very low. It was initially just about driveable, but started to drag and I was only able to select gears by stopping the engine and then restarting in gear. I managed to not get stranded in the middle of the street. The setup is an Alfa dual mass flywheel and clutch cover (a mix of 164 and 166, or possibly 916 parts) with a Maserati Merak clutch plate. The previous owner found it quit…

I am absolutely delighted to be associated with this vehicle again. It has had just three keepers and I have sold it to all of them, including when new, way back in 1998. The last owner has been the custodian since it was just two and a half years old and it is true to say that the vehicle has led a charmed life with servicing being undertaken on a ‘no expense spared’ basis with very regular attention both mechanically and cosmetically. A full SE specification in the beautiful colour of metallic Ruby Red with a fawn leather interior and optional red piping. In the current period of ownership, the vehicle has always been serviced by the same person, Esprit guru, Ma…

Hi all guys, here I'm starting a new topic about my engine, I will post all the rebuilding process as I did with my gearbox some time ago. The engine is a 912 LC and will be rebuilt and upgraded to HC spec. plus bigger valves, ported head, etc... I have started to disassemble the engine and I will show you just some pics of the engine conditions. The main bearings are not bad, the rod are worse with some discoloration and scoring, only the 1° main is in bad conditions, I have checked the crank journals and they are all on the limits but please look at the last picture and tell me what you think, maybe a good lapping...? Comments and help always welcome. Giorgi…

If my headlamp pods are disconnected from the motor and I switch the headlights on my motors just run constantly. Surely there is an internal micro switch to only allow enough movement to raise and lower the pods if connected. Thanks for any advice around this.
