It's been a while since I've revisited the Esprit, I've been trying to get some additional finances together to pay for the engine rebuild.
When the sun comes out it seems to motivate me to do things, so I striped the engine down to constituent parts and tried to catalog everything by taking pictures, although my iphone seems to lose pictures all the time, what is with that! Anyhow all the castings were sent off to get vapour blasted and have returned shiny like new, a thing of beauty I can
Unbelievably I have had the Wilson Audio Yvette Speakers here since Christmas but they have been stored away mainly due to their weight, as at around 80KG’s each speaker there was no way we could lift them to our upstairs demo rooms so I have had to wait patiently knowing that we would soon have 2 new showrooms on the ground floor, this was not easy as I have really fallen for the Wilson Sabrina’s so have been really keen to hear what the next model up brings to the party.
Just wanted to say Congratulations to Charles Macdonald who won the Naim Mu-so Qb draw from last weekend’s Naim Lounge launch event, thanks also to Naim for donating the Qb for the draw :-)
Cue cheesy picture below, well done Charlie, couldn’t have gone to a better customer :-)
Now time to start planning the launch event for the Highend Room, I wonder if I can convince dCS to give away a Vivaldi system :-)
Both Wendy and myself just wanted to send out a big thanks to everyone who attended the launch of our new Naim Lounge on Saturday and made the day such a big success, we reckon we had between 120-150 people through the doors which is just incredible, at one point people had to queue to get into the new room and apparently there were traffic jams outside as people tried to find somewhere to park, so thanks again for everyone’s support, it really is very much appreciated.
So it has been full steam ahead trying to get everything ready for the Launch event on Saturday of our new showrooms but I just wanted to do a quick post as PMC have just installed the awesome BB5 SE’s which on the end of the Naim Statement are sounding pretty dams good I have to say, which is a relief as I was really worried how the rooms would sound, especially with the BB5′s in there with those huge 15″ bass drivers but in all honesty it is sounding really good, you just can’t be
It was a big day yesterday as Naim delivered and installed the Statement so that it will be nicely warmed up ahead of our Naim Lounge launch event in a weeks time, it has been constantly on since arriving but I haven’t hooked anything up to it yet, in fact I still haven’t played any music yet in the new rooms, but that is the plan for today, to hook up our NDS/555 to the Statement with a pair of Sopra No2′s to see how it sounds, all very exciting :-)
It has been a while since I
Well Piega have done it again, for the 2nd time the Piega rep has bought a pair of speakers in that I just can’t resist, in all honesty the last thing I need in here is more speakers but everytime Piega bring something new in I just can’t believe how good they are, especially for the money, so I end up buying a pair, I am so weak.
Obviously there is a lot of choice when it comes to speakers but the TMicro really does offer something different, firstly they are very slim, very d
Just thought I’d upload a quick video of Chord’s hotly anticipated Hugo II which is due in around 2-3 weeks time, I managed to borrow one from Chord for this weekends Head-Fi event that we are sponsoring in Milton Keynes but I will have it here for most of next week if anyone did want to come in for a quick listen, just let me know.
Look forward to seeing everyone at the Head-Fi Event, more info below -
Well with the fitting out of the new showrooms really gathering pace now I feel confident enough to announce the launch event for our new Naim Lounge on April 22nd, no going back now :-)
Basically the plan is to hook up the Naim Statement with a pair of PMC BB5 SE’s speakers to create a very special system indeed that will most definitely test the acoustics of the new rooms but if we do our job properly should sound spectacular.
We will have representatives from both Naim
Just wanted to give everyone a headsup that we are sponsoring a Head-Fi meet in Milton Keynes on 2nd April, we will be taking a long a selection of amp and headphones for people to try but the great thing about these meets is that fellow enthusiasts bring their headphone rigs along for others to listen to so I am personally looking forward to see and hear what some guys bring along.
We will be offering 10% off any headphone products purchased at the show so hope to
Thought I’d try something different for a change and do a small video as on Thursday we finally broke through into Highend Headphones so no more cold walks outside and through the car park to go from HFL to HH so please see below for the internal walk through from HFL to HH.
I must admit it isn’t the best quality video, for the next one I won’t swing the camera around so much and will try and keep my hand steadier but it will give you the idea :-)
I would actually like to
So yesterday was the day I had been waiting for for what seems like forever, the builders finally knocked through from HiFi Lounge’s downstairs demo room into the new showrooms so it really feels like all systems go now.
They are back next week to knock through from the new showrooms to Highend Headphones and finish hanging doors etc and they will be done, I have to say they have done an awesome job and couldn’t recommend the guys anymore highly.
On Monday the electri
At the Bristol HiFi Show this weekend Rega announced red versions of the excellent Planar 2 and Planer 3 turntables and I have to say that they look gorgeous, also look closely to the Planar 3 and see if you can notice anything else a little different, I had to take a double take as I could see the cartridge didn’t look like an Elys2 that would normally come with a Planar 3 and actually looked more like Rega’s top end Apheta 2 design, well it turns out it is a new cartridge called t
Another big week for the new showrooms as the partition walls went up to make the rooms a little smaller, over the next month it should really all come together quite nicely as next week we finally knock through from HiFi Lounge right through to Highend Headphones and have all the doors installed.
Also next week the electricians are coming in to install unswitched power sockets with 10mm cabling on it’s own circuit + ethernet points, the following week both units will be decora
As part of our expansion plans I am really pleased to announce that we have now added Audio Research to our portfolio and along with dCS and Wilson Audio this now completes our line up of new Highend Brands that will hopefully add another string to HiFi Lounge’s bow :-)
In reality Audio Research really do not need any introduction as they are one of the most respected, established and oldest manufacturers of Audio Components trading today and are credited by many as the founder
I just wanted to write a quick blog to say that we now have the dCS Network bridge on demo, personally I have been looking forward to this one as it has the potential to be the perfect device to link your digital music collection to your favourite DAC or digital amp, especially as it is Roon Ready.
So in a nutshell the dCS Network Bridge is a very powerful piece of hardware that links to your network and will see the data on your NAS and using the dCS app or Roon can then be
Just got back from an interesting day at PMC Speakers HQ just over the road in Biggleswade as they announced plans to launch and distribute German electronics brand AVM into the UK marketplace. Now I read a lot of HiFi mags but I must admit I had never heard of AVM until today which after spending a day with the the guys from AVM and PMC I find this quite astonishing as worldwide they are a huge brand, especially in their home country of Germany, where they are pretty much one of th
Well it was certainly a big week this week, after what seems like ages of waiting work really started in earnest with the builders coming in to start knocking through the walls and building the partition walls.
Obviously when you start knocking around a really old building you don’t really know what you are going to find but other than the adjoining wall between HiFi Lounge and the new Naim Showroom being extremely thick which took far longer to break through than the builders
Many of you already know this but in true HiFi style we are upgrading :-) Well we are opening 2 more showrooms to be exact so I thought I would start a blog that I will update regularly with progress reports and pictures.
We are now in our 5th year, not quite sure where that time has gone to be honest but firstly Wendy and myself would like to thank everyone for your support over that time, it really has flown by and has been great fun. Looking back I would say We have tried to
This week I bought the Nordost Heimdall II cable for the Focal Utopia headphones, more for myself to be honest as an experiment but I thought I would just scribble down my thoughts for other Utopia owners who may find it useful.
Basically as many of you will know I love listening on headphones and have been enjoying the Stax SR-009′s for a few years now, like many though once the new Focal Utopia headphones were released I found myself using them more and more as my headphone o
This is just a quickie to say that on Thursday we installed the new Arcam AV860 Processor in to our cinema setup, once we have the new showrooms opened then the upstairs demo room many of you will know will be mainly used as our cinema room so we decided to kit it out in style with a full Arcam rig with the new AV860 processor at its heart, I can see one of these ending up at home to be honest, as I have had the AV888 and AV950 that proceeded it and with the AV860 having Dirac on bo
When looking for a select few new brands to add to our portfolio for our new demo rooms dCS sprung to mind straight away, I have been reading for years how dCS have been pushing the boundaries of what is possible from digital so I was really keen to have a listen, they have been working in the digital domain for over 25 years now constantly improving and refining the digital experience and needless to say once I had listened I was keen to add them to our portfolio.
I have to admit that I am becoming quite excited about CD Playback again which has surprised me as I was quite keen to go over to streaming and wave goodbye to CD once and for all, a couple of years ago I really thought CD was dead and Vinyl and Streaming was all anyone needed now but just recently there has been quite a few excellent CD players released and there has definitely been more interest in CD players from our customers so it is great to now add the new Bryston BCD-3 to
