The boo boo on the rear seatbelt mounting has been resolved and the seat base back in.
The carpet in the driver's side has been removed along with all-but-one of the metal fixings (the one that acts the the stop for the accelerator pedal). I may have to re-manufacture that fitting as the nut and thread section both look very bad in the wheel well area.

Well, I didn't have all day on the car, I had to pop and see somebody about a fresh place to store a couple of the cars, due to the passing of the owner of the previous location.
Last night I trimmed the rear side panels.
I've fitted the back of the rear seat, including fitting new galvanised tabs to the bottom section of it, I've made up the mounting plat for the passenger side rear seat belts and fitted it, the other side needs a hole drilled and nuts welded to it then it's ready also.
The S300 restoration project that I started last year is now in fresh hands.
As many of you will know, I decided to withdraw from Esprit projects and engine builds in order to give time back to my family.
The restoration of S300 #25 is now in the talented and capable hands of Dave Lisle (aka CHANGES). I would expect Dave to start a dedicated Blog for this project soon and wish him the best of British in bringing this great car back to a fantastic factory-fresh condition.
Almost one full year after the last dyno session where we experienced the clutch problem, we were back at it this weekend.
With approx. 8000 miles on the engine and the upgraded AP clutch fully run-in, everything was set and ready. We did a total of 14 runs, with adaptions in between - final run produced:
Peak boost: 1.1 bar (turbine housings limiting factor)
Torque: 437 lb/ft
Inlet temp: peaking 40deg C
AFR: flat 12.1
So, the plan had been to do all the mechanical work then MOT test and associated work followed by trim work. Having realised it will be easier to do the seat belt mounts etc with the interior coming out (or at least part of it) just once I have decided I'll do a fair bit of trim work before the MOT test.
As such I've ordered a carpet kit to match the one I got half way through fitting to the green one before I accidentally turned it into a boat. That means I have the passenger side kit already
After dropping a mail to the firm that supplied the upholstery cleaning chemical they asked if I had before and after shots, so today I took out the driver's seat and the rest of the trim so as to do side by side shots of a cleaned seat and one about to be cleaned. In doing so I broke two cobalt drills, obviously by applying force in the wrong direction.

Having been awake until approx 5 am due to a migraine then asleep for several hours after taking Sumatriptan I didn't get much done today, but deliberately didn't take 120mg - 24mg Codiene which would have stopped me bothering about the pain, if I'd taken that I'd have got absolutely nothing done..
I washed the interior parts that I washed yesterday, this time with a clean water rinse to remove traces of the detergent. It pulled even more dirt out, looks a bit brighter still and has less odour

I removed the rear panel one side, fitted glass tint (which will have to be removed anyway- dust got under it somehow). Today I've been watching / listening for the telephone as the Silver one was due to arrive and so I was due a call early to advise of ETA. That call didn't come until early afternoon and so the car isn't arriving until late tonight. That distracted me from the task in hand , the gold one.

During the week I've been doing the rear spates, they should now be ready for a final sand, prime then paint.
I did some more work on the front brakes, I'm going to go from 6mm spacers to 19mm spacers to get clearance for the wheels, so I'll be asking Buddsy to adjust some wheel spacers to become brake disc spacers. That will mean a 1-2mm spacer (aka washer) needed between the hub spider and the calliper.
Hi, On the 4[sup]th[/sup] October I Purchased a 1981 Esprit S3 in pieces, as you do!, or should I say as I do, this being the third car I have purchased in this way.
I thought I would try and document the events during the restoration and attach a few photos as we go.
Please be patient, as this is the first time I have tried this ‘Blogging’ process.
On initial inspection it would appear that there are a number of items that will need replacing and some that are missing!!

OK, not much progress to report today.
It starts and runs and so with most of the underneath work done (and the 7 inch vice grips removed that I'd forgotten about attaching to the chassis) I've lowered the car off the ramps. With that done I can get on with adjusting the dimensions of the front brake components.
The lights, well they are now working. What did I do to sort it? I don't know. I checked the wiring diagram and realised the number plat lamp was the only point at which I'd not ch

Today I fitted the modified front brakes, not finished because of a slight mis-measurement I will need to have a small amount of material machines off the shim and the calliper spacers.

Well, The Champagne Gold excel arrived home a week or so ago and so I've now started work on it.
The plan is to get the obvious bits done then go for an MOT test.
The rear brakes; well the callipers were seized solid, the discs were pitted beyond hope, the brake unions were rusted solid at every point and the backing plate for one side had more than half disintegrated.

The bit of the dash next to the windscreen is called the screen landing and is, infact, part of the bodyshell i.e. not removable. As outlined in other threads, this was trimmed at Lotus before the screen went in, so unless the screen is out/broken/removed etc, it needs to be retrimmed insitu, screen in the way.
