Just a real quickie to let everyone know that Grado have given their popular GR10 and GR8 in-ears the ‘e’ treatment to now become the GR10e and GR8e in-earphones.
The GR10e’s are available now with the GR8e’s to follow shortly, I have ordered a pair of GR10e’s for demo if anyone would like to come and have a listen.
Lifted from Grado’s website is description of the improvements bought to these new models -
‘Learning never ends and the GR10e is a result of a constant desire t
I did promise myself that this year I wouldn’t bring on anymore brands, but so far we have added Chord Cables, Chord Electronics, Well Tempered and Isol-8 so that new years resolution didn’t go very well to be honest :-) but
Not really a Lotus I know but I've just got a new toy and it is just as cool as any car or HiFi in my opinion :-)
I need to get fit so have been looking to buy a Pashley Speed 5 for a while then I noticed on eBay the other day that Pashley had made a one off version for charity in a
I think it is fair to say that Astell&Kern have been focusing on the higher end of the portable market since they first launched their range a couple of years ago but with the imminent launch of their new AK Jr player they will well and truly have all the bases covered as this new and smaller AK player is going to be priced at a very competitive £399.
It pretty much covers the same bases as its bigger brothers, so it can play 24/192 files and DSD 2.8Mhz and can also double up a
I know a lot of people have been waiting for us to get the new Chord Electronics 2Qute Dac on demo so I just wanted to scribble a quick post to say that our demo model has just arrived.
For those who don’t know this is basically a Hugo in a Chordette chassis without the internal battery, so it runs of the mains, and no headphone output but still offers that award winning Hugo sound.
This really is the perfect DAC for home HiFi’s as well as the heart to a top end headphone rig, u
Sonus Faber have slowly been working their way through their speaker range with new models being released over the last couple of years, the latest make over is to their entry level range of speakers, so out with the Toy range and in with the new Chameleon range, I have to say that these look like a great speaker at an excellent price with a novel idea and a great name to match.
These are classic Sonus Faber, so expect plenty of leather and style but the main difference form any ot
Just a quick blog to let everyone know that we now have Naim’s new Super Lumina range of cables on demo. I must admit at first I wasn’t too keen to put these on demo as they are certainly not cheap and I did wonder how good they really could be, t
A quick update on the below blog, basically the open back EL-8′s are now with us and are running in as I write this, they really are beautifully built with a real solid feel to them, they come packaged very nicely indeed with a bag included for transportation, I know the EL-8′s have been billed as a portable headphone but I really can see lots of people using these at home, especially the open backs.
Needless to say, please feel free to come along for a demo, please find a few unb
At HiFi Lounge we are pleased to be offering the excellent PMC Fact.8 Loudspeakers in Graphite. These are a customer trade in who has just upgraded to Fact.12’s. These will come boxed with all packaging and documentation.
They really are in as new condition, I installed these originally 2 years ago and collected them so I know them very well, they have been extremely well looked after and only played at low volumes, they come from a child and pet feee home, also a non smoker. These are going
I just thought it was worth posting a quick blog with the latest information we have regarding the much anticipated Audeze EL-8 headphones and their new Deckard headphone amp, basically after a few delays we are expecting t
This is one piece of Naim equipment I have personally been looking forward to, I am a big fan of the NAC-N 172 as I found if you could go with a 2 box solution partnered with a NAP 200 it would give a nice increase in performance compared to the similarly priced SuperUniti.
So when my demo NAC-N 272 arrived yesterday I hooked it up to our demo NAP 250 which I guess will be the perfect partner, maybe even a NAP 300 would be worth considering, and left it running overnight so that I
Just a quickie to say that we now have Chord Electronics DSX1000 Reference Network player on demo, anyone who came along to our Classic Rock Day may have seen it and heard it as we used it for some of our streaming duties.
There is no denying that Chord Make beautiful looking equipment, quite unlike anyone else, when you first take it out of the box you know that this is going to be something quite special and it doesn’t disappoint. At its heart it uses the latest version of the FP
Both Wendy and myself just wanted to say a quick thanks to everyone who came along on Saturday and helped make our Classic Rock day so much fun, it was great to see so many familiar faces and a few new ones.
Also thanks for Barry for bringing along a great and varied selection of vinyl which proved very popular along with his record cleaning services, this also proved to be very popular indeed with many people trying the before and after experience and being quite surprised at the
Well its been a busy day but we are now all set for our Classic Rock Day tomorrow, the Bryston amps are warming up nicely to some Led Zeppelin as I just bought the last 3 box sets that were remastered and they are sounding great.
Barry dropped a few boxes of vinyl in today, starting from £1 up to £6′ish, there is a great selection there, so this could be a great opportunity to pick some vinyl at sensible prices, he will also be offering his vinyl cleaning service, I will be getting
Just a quick blog to say that our Highend Headphones shop is featured in this months (April Cover Date) HiFi Choice with a really great 4 page article written by Ed Selley starting on page 90.
Basically we put 3 Highend Systems together to show what we consider to be 3 of the best currently available today, covering open and closed back headphones with planar, dynamic and electrostatic drivers from brands such as Abyss, Stax and McIntosh with a variety of amps and dacs.
So I wou
Just thought that I would post a couple of pictures of my Exige LF1 car cover that arrived last week as arranged by Bips, looks really stunning and fits perfectly, highly recommended :-)
As the weekend is now fast approaching, we are looking forward to rocking out with some Classic Rock with Dave Lewis from the Led Zeppelin Tight But Loose fan club, I thought I would just say that we will be starting from around 10am with muffins and coffee w
Just a quick note to let everyone know that it is that time of year again when we get the annual Naim price rise so if you are thinking of buying anything within the Naim range shortly it may be worth thinking about getting your order in sooner rather than later.
I promised to all the enquiries that we have had regarding the PM-3’s that I would blog the minute that the they came through the door, well I will keep this quick but they have just arrived, so I dropped everything and took a few quick pictures.
Wendy has taken them straight round to our headphone shop to get them running in ready for all the demo’s that are booked, along with the Audeze EL-8’s that are due any day now I have never known any other headphones to get this much inter
I think everyone knows that we are big fans of Devialet here, from the configurability, its style but most of all how it sounds, Devialet really are offering something different and exciting in the world of HiFi.
Since we took Devialet on as a brand around a year ago the plan was always to have the full range on demo, we started off with the stereo versions, so the 120, 200 and 250 but now we have just taken on the 200 Companion so that we can now demo the Devialet 400 Dual Mono Se
I don’t think there is any better known or more respected cable company in the UK than The Chord Company so when we were looking to bring another cable company on to give an alternative to our Atlas range that we are big fans of then The Chord Company was the obvious choice, especially
Just a quick update regarding the much anticipated OPPO HA-2 portable headphone amplifier and PM-3 headphones, I am please to say that yesterday we received our HA-2’s, I can see this being extremely popular as it seems such great value for only £259, it has that quality feel to it that OPPO understand so well, when you are holding it you would think it was a £500+ product and comes beautifully packed as all OPPO product do.
The perfect partners for the HA-2 are bound to be the new
Just a quicky to let everyone know if you haven’t already seen, that at the Bristol HiFi Show this weekend PMC Speakers have launched their latest product to join their multi award winning Twenty loudspeaker range, the Twenty.Sub which surprise, surprise, is a Subwoofer which is designed to match perfect with the Twenty range of speakers and can used for both movies and music, personally I’m quite looking forward to trying it with the Fact.8’s also.
Available in April and priced at
We had the Journalist Ed Selley come into Highend Headphones the other day to do a dealer visit article for HiFi Choice which hopefully will be in the next issue, he took this rather cool picture of one of the systems he is writing about, our McIntosh setup being fed by a Naim Audio ND5 XS.
It is no secret that we are big fans of Chord’s Hugo here so inevitably I was intrigued by the rest of the Chord Range and after listening to their setup in Munich last year driving the mighty PMC BB5 SE’s and trying a couple of components to make sure that it performs wel
