World’s First Michell Engineering Orbe SE-R Build!
I was really pleased to be able to sell and install the worlds first Michell engineering Orbe SE-R recently, thanks Darren :-) It really is a stunning turntable and is Michell’s new flagship turntable based on their Orbe SE but the base in now integral into the design, it has the normal stunning Michell look but incorporates a few tweaks to further enhance performance.
The customer also specified a couple of brands that we
Ok so no for something a little different We are giving one lucky person the opportunity to win 5 passenger laps around Donington Park on September 7th being driven around by my coach, Tom Gladdis, who is a professional racing driver and is seriously quick so this really isn’t for the faint hearted but will certainly be a day to remember if you are a petrolhead or thrill seeker.
All you need to do to enter is e-mail the answer to the below question to my e-mail address and we
We went to the Wilton House Supercar show on Sunday, not sure how this event passed me by as it has been running for a few years now but I was only made aware of it a few months ago, but I have to say it was one of the best car events I have ever attended, amazing selection of cars in a beautiful setting, If you love cars I'd definately recommend it for next year smile emoticon[/font
Unbelievably I have had the Wilson Audio Yvette Speakers here since Christmas but they have been stored away mainly due to their weight, as at around 80KG’s each speaker there was no way we could lift them to our upstairs demo rooms so I have had to wait patiently knowing that we would soon have 2 new showrooms on the ground floor, this was not easy as I have really fallen for the Wilson Sabrina’s so have been really keen to hear what the next model up brings to the party.
Now I must admit that I am a bit of a speaker tart, I really do love speakers, for me it is the most important part of a system and it can also be the hardest part of a system to choose as it is the part of your HiFi that actually talks to your room which can transform how your HiFi Sounds so careful choosing is a must.
Now I have always been a floorstander kinda guy, I always felt I was being short changed by a standmount speaker, well that was until I heard the awesome B
Just got back from our first day of training at Wilson Audio and what a great day it has been, we did spend a lot of time in their conference room learning various things like their history, told to us by John and Sheryl Wilson and how they started from their garage with pretty much instant success only to fall on hard times loosing their house then rebuilding Wilson Audio to where it is today arguably making the best speakers in the world, then we learnt about the materials used to
In preparation for the launch of our new showrooms we have bought on 4 new brands so that we have something to put in them :-)
Firstly we are really pleased to add Wilson Audio Speakers to our portfolio, I guess this is what you call Highend as their speakers start at £18,498, hardly entry level, and go up to the £100′s of thousands for the newly announced epic WAMM.
To be honest I have read about Wilson Speakers for years now and how many respected reviewers consider the
Just a quickie to say that I am really pleased to have the Wilson Audio Sasha 2 speakers on demo, I’m not going to go on for a change but I just want to say that they are incredible, the whole speaker is brilliant but I have to say in particular the mid range is absolutely captivating, I guess this is helped as this is the first Wilson in their range with the separate head which contains the tweeter and mid driver so helps with isolation but also gives you the ability to alter the a
I just thought I would do a quick blog on an install that I did earlier in the week as one of the things that annoys me is when people say big speakers in a small room can’t work, when I had PMC MB2′s at home before setting up HFL they were only in a smallish room and they absolutely sung so in reality there is no reason why a big speaker can’t work in a small room but this install was definitely going to test that theory.
So after our PMC Fenestria install struggles, whic
I just thought I would do a quick blog to say that I have a traded in pair of the Wilson Audio Sabrina Speakers, these really are one of my favourite speakers.
These are a customer trade in who has upgraded to Wilson Sasha DAW’s, they are in black, as new condition and boxed with all the accessories.
New Price - £18,998
Our Price - £13,998
If you’d like a listen anytime please feel free to get in touch.
For our next Open Day we are going to be showcasing Wilson Audio Speakers, without doubt makes of some of the finest speakers in the world, you get certain moments in your HiFi life where you hear something for the first time and you know that is the sound for you, it happened many years ago when I heard my first pair of PMC Speakers and more recently I got that same feeling again when I heard my first pair of Wilsons and to be honest with the release of the new Sasha DAW there
I just thought I would post a few more pictures from my recent trip to Wilson Audio when we spent the day doing the factory tour, I have to say I came away so impressed with the level of detail these guys go to when making their speakers, you can really see why they cost what they do.
Firstly they have developed their own materials to make the cabinets from, if you ever get a chance just tap a Wilson cabinet and hear how ‘Dead’ it is, they have also invested over half a million
I have no problem in saying that when it comes to speakers I have quite a soft spot for Wilson Audio speakers, it was only a couple of years ago that I heard my first pair of Wilsons but it was one of those moment in HiFi that I will never forget, very much like when I heard a pair of PMC BB5 XBD’s, it really changed what you think is possible from a speaker.
So when Wilson announce a new speaker then that is big news indeed, well being that the new TuneTot is Wilson’s sma
So we are unashamedly big Wilson Audio fans at HFL, I feel extremely privileged to have been to David Wilson’s house to hear the extraordinary Wamm Master Chronosonic Speakers a few years ago and although they gave the best HiFi Experience I have ever heard at knocking on for £1 million with the subs that was never going to be achievable but quietly I have always dreamed of adding a pair of Wilson Alexx’s to our ‘Highend’ demo room so with the news last week that Wilson will be
So next in our post Lockdown new demo kit announcements is rather special, what with the Munich Highend Show cancelled this year we thought we would up our reference system to bring a slice of Munich to Millow so starting with the speakers we now have the awesome Wilson Audio Alexia 2's on permanent demo, these are the next one up in the range from the brilliant Sasha DAW's which are a really popular speaker for us but the Alexia really takes it to the next level with a more op
For the eagle eyed amongst you some of you hopefully noticed that we have put a direct link to our eBay store on the navigation bar of our new website so I just thought I’d mention this in a quick blog as we do quite a lot of trade ins and some kit is listed on our site under the Ex-Display / Pre-owned section but all of it is listed on eBay, this is updated regularly so please keep an eye out.
So if you are after any new HiFi and have anything to trade in just let me know and
I think it is fair to say that one area where we haven’t got a lot of choice at HiFi Lounge is quality phono stages, yes the Dynavector P75 and Rega Aria are excellent stages but I have been aware for some time that there is a whole world above this price point that can really add to the enjoyment you can get from your vinyl collection so it gives me great pleasure to add Whest Audio to our Portfolio.
A good phono stage is vital to any vinyl system and with Whest Audio this is
Well, for once I really don’t know what to say other than a huge thanks to everyone involved who helped make our first Boys Toys Event something very special indeed, it certainly looks like the big man above is obviously car and HiFi fan as he really did lay on glorious weather which really helped make the day something quite special.
Now for the Oscar speech :-) Firstly I’d like to thank everyone at PMC Speakers who really did got the extra mile on this one, without them this woul
One of the highlights for me during 2018 was hearing my first pair of Fyne Audio speakers, the F501′s, I really never expected them to be as goods as they were and they really filled a gap in our speaker lineup as I had never really found a speaker at this price point before that I could really recommend and since that moment we have sold quite a few pairs to some very happy customers which is great news.
But it was always Fyne Audio’s plan to bring a full range of speaker
At the moment Wendy is on a jolly, sorry I mean working hard, in Germany as a guest of Sennheiser, today was a factory tour amongst other things + she got to listen to the new Orpheus HE1, a snip at £54,000, we have been mad enough to have ordered one for permanent demo so watch this space as it is very special indeed, hopefully we’ll have it at Highend Headphones in time for Christmas.
Please find a few pictures from Wendy’s trip so far -
I know this is not strictly a Lotus but a Westfield replica of a Lotus Eleven but I have just bought this in my quest to put together a collection of Lotus's from every decade since formation so hopefully posting it on here is OK, the originals go for around £130K now so this will have to do for my 50's example.
It is brand new but the fly in the ointment is that it is nearly finished being built by the current owner but it has yet to get through its SVA test to make it road le
Just a quick update to say that we have been busy setting up all day today but are now all ready for a 70’s vinyl fest tomorrow :-)
I’ve been sorting through all my records and actually have more 70’s vinyl than I thought, I’ve been listening to quite a lot of it today to get the vibe going but I resisted listening to Saturday Night Fever as I thought we should save that till tomorrow :-)
Anyway hope to see a few of you tomorrow for what will be a fun day.
Really looking forward to this weekends Fyne Audio Open Day and to get in the spirit, quite literally, we have decided to go all Scottish, firstly thanks to Loch Fyne Whiskies who have sent down 5 bottles of Whisky and a bottle of gin to help us enjoy the day, thanks guys, better bring your sleeping bag if anyone is going to try a tipple from each or at least organise a lift home.
The Menu for the Day!

Many of you already know this but in true HiFi style we are upgrading :-) Well we are opening 2 more showrooms to be exact so I thought I would start a blog that I will update regularly with progress reports and pictures.
We are now in our 5th year, not quite sure where that time has gone to be honest but firstly Wendy and myself would like to thank everyone for your support over that time, it really has flown by and has been great fun. Looking back I would say We have tried to
Firstly it goes without saying that I hope everyone has stayed fit well over the last few months and also you have stayed mentally sane as these have certainly been times like no other we have been going through with a variety of different challenges but it does appear that the worst is now behind us, well let’s certainly hope so and like most of the country’s ‘Non Essential’ shops (although I would argue we are pretty essential for a lot of our customers) we will be reopening
